  • A mother's prayer for her son and his bride on their wedding day has raised brows. In a video shared online, the mother is seen blessing the new couple at their wedding reception.
The groom's mother said: "I know how many women I rejected before I picked her. And I know why I picked her. And that reason why I picked her, she will never disappoint you. She then prayed that God will bless her son and his bride, Ifunanya.

Difficult situation. The reality is that one marries into a family, be it bride or groom. Parents have a right to state a preference. Do you know how many spouses have been "picked" in the past, present and future by praying parents without saying a word? I

In my own case , my future mother-in-law felt I was not beautiful enough and thus rejected. Went on to make a life for myself . She made her choice for her son and regretted her choice. In my own case, I allow God to choose for my kids.

I guess so too! With all the kind of ladies we see now on social media, it would be wise for parents to look and pray well about their Child’s spouse.

I am from Peoria Illinois in the USA.
I know a lot of African people who want to do away with all of the traditions. I think all of the traditions are not bad ones. A lot of the traditions help keep things in order. The way the family approve the persons to merry into each other family is a good thing.
I think in this situation the mother was saying she approved of this girl not like she picked her out of the bunch. The approved of the girls attitude the way she carries herself she saw the girl was very respectful if she did a criminal background check these days I would not question that either. The son should be very happy that his mother passed a great woman to him. I feel the tradition that the family mostly the father and the mother have to approve the girl or man I think it's necessary I think they should keep that.

I think parents can advise based on genuine values, but the ultimate decision needs to be the bride's and groom's. Many people end up cheating because they married to please their parents.

Mothers can be funny when it comes to marriage relationships.... My mummy never consented to my sister marrying a man from Plateau state simply because he is from the north. Although she had to marry him because they were traveling abroad.

Unfortunately, women will always say things rightly or wrongly many times in the wrong places. A man will have to deal with all that as long as there there are women in his life.

I am a very nice woman and if you think because I am cool and respectful you will choose me because you think you can control me
    Na lie oh👌👌
Just like the Muslim woman there.🤷‍♀️
I will not change my personality for a mother inlaw
What I can not accept from my mom no matter how humble I am, there is a limit to everything 👌
So that woman should just give them their space
Not because you choose her, you want to make decisions for them or their marriage 😏
Issues can even arise tomorrow and the man will say “if not for my mother that picked you, I would have married my ex”
Just like Harrysong is saying right now👌👌👌
That he left his 10years r/ship because his family choose the young wife🤷‍♀️

When a man or woman is in love, that person can be shortsighted. You don't want any person/woman that ll come into your family and come and scatter your family. Even in the western world, parents always want their children to marry a good person. They don't want somebody that ll come and scatter their family

Your presumption is unfounded therefore wrong. Real men take charge put their mum in her rightful place by keeping her out of his marriage while standing up for and in defense of his wife and home.
Mum has already built her own home it’s now time for her son to build his.
With all respect, Most of these mothers are emotionally selfish and ignorant.

Having an opinion is different from being the ultimate decision making. This has red flags written all over it. It’s obvious she will be very influential in the marriage. I’m also considering the whole English language but to me it’s more of a personality thing. She seems she would be TOO involved in the man’s marriage.
