Some of the scholars from Bukhara were traveling to Iraq with some of Shah Naqshbandi's disciples when they arrived in the city of Simnan. They heard that there was a blessed being named Sayyid Mahmoud, who was a disciple of the Shaykh. They went to his house and asked him, How did you get in touch with the Shaykh?
He said, "One time I saw the Messenger of Allah in a dream, sitting in a very good place, and beside him sat a person with a very beautiful appearance. I said to the Messenger of Allah with respect and humility, O Messenger of Allah, I was not given the glory to be your friend during your lifetime. What can I do with my life to get closer to that glory? He said, "O my son, if you want to be honored by being our friend and sitting with us and being blessed, you must follow my son, Shah Bahauddin Naqshbandi.
I then asked, Who is Shah Bahauddin Naqshbandi? He replied to me, Did you see the person sitting next to me? This is the person. Keep your company with him.
