  • Troubleshooting starting issues on a Bobcat 5600 Toolcat with a Kubota engine. The electrical system is very similar to the older excavators.

Really enjoy these videos, there’s not no many people on CZcams that specialize in bobcat equipment. I’d give anything to see a video on AC trouble shooting on these machines.

So glad you said "just because we have continuity does not mean it can't hold a load"
Very true and a lot of people think oh my dvom beeps the wire is good! No, can the circuit carry amperage thats the true test.

I’ve had this exact same issue but this happened on a T590 where the gateway controller ground signal to the fuel shut off solenoid was open circuit but continuity from the 3pin connector on the solenoid to the gateway controller was good and had 0ohms of resistance, I had bypassed the ground from the controller to the chassis and she worked. A new controller was ordered and programmed. Also another thing too is that there’s different resistance on the pull and hold wire when testing the coil. I absolutely love watching you guys, great to see the young fella picking it up real quick thanks to a great mentor.

Great job fellas.Nothing like telling the customer he needs a new 1500 control panel to fix his problem.

I always enjoy your stuff I worked on bobcats for the army wish you were around sooner.

Awesome video guys! It is so empowering to understand our equipment. We use our 5600 (which I will admit was bought on a whimsical impulse) waaaaaay more than we ever thought we would. It does a lot of things very well. We had a similar controller type issue with our S-185 with a keyless pad (where it would just periodically stop dead. Sometimes it would restart OK, sometimes it would take multiple attempts to get the controller to work. This annoying issue came and went for years with the only correlation being moisture or hi humidity. BC looked at multiple times on multiple trips and could find nothing other than the stop codes. They supposedly never seen anything like it....ever. I do a lot of low voltage control work and pulled the system apart multiple times only to find spotlessly clean and dry connections.
Finally I just ordered a new keypad and had it installed on the next maintenance trip out. No more problems since. Mentioned this issue to my son's inlaws who have an A300 and they were like "hey, ours does the same thing and BC can't seem to figure it out." Replaced the same part and their issue dissapeared. My guess is both machines were manufactured during an era of EPA mandated lead reduction in circuit boards. There was a period where this lack of lead and the use of improper substitute alloys in circuit construction would allow a crystal spidering lattice to form that would bridge circuit paths causing crazy effects and failures. Our firm has replaced many circuit boards built in that transition period with this issue on HVAC equipment.
Amazing skills on your end and your sharing of them is really appreciated! A less than 20 hours new S66 sits in our shop, that filter relocate you were working on looks pretty tempting.

I got my 751 Bob Cat skid steer working thought it was lift arm sencer but no Even though the fuses were ok one was shorting after 3 days and the Bobcat Dealer in Adare Ireland were very helpful

We need another new T86 video, they’ve been in service over a year now. I just got my case drain system modified by my dealer with factory bobcat parts from an E165 to reduce case drain pressures for running the mulching heads. Case drain pressures were too high with the stock system and it was blowing out of the mulching heads and putting the machine into limp mode.
It’s bobcats flagship machine please give it the spotlight it deserves👌🏼

Thanks for the suggestion, we only have a few of them in our area so when the opportunity arises I will definitely do some more videos.

Hi Brady and Mike, I’ve replaced my controller on my T300 skid steer. It would start then die. Yes, they are expensive. Thanks

You don’t have a vid on vale’s do you? If not, can you do a video discussing how to adjust valve clearances? I have a S595 with about 3k hours, and I believe it’s recommended.

I would really like to see how you load tested that circuit? Did you apply 12v and l9ok for voltage drop? Inquiring minds want to know!

Great question, we thought the camera was recording when we did the test but it was not unfortunately. We use a Load Pro that works with our Multi Meter. Great tool for troubleshooting. amzn.to/3I2gfrF

I have a S150 and just had a bobcat tech come out and diagnose a no lift no tilt said the computer is not recognizing the controler, joy sticks or acs. Said I need a new harness. Would you kindly give me give me your thoughts. Harness is $2000 thinking of removing the harness and checking for damage.

      @tetradgroup  Před 5 měsíci

To many possibilities to answer this question. I can only assume your machine has a separate ACS controller. Usually no communication with controller is a power issue. Do you have 12v to the controller? If not, trace back and see if you can find a bad wire or connection somewhere. Its very rare we replace harnesses at our shop.

I don't think you did a great job explaining this... As I understand it the controller and the panel act as one component but either can be bad.
In this case the panel is bad so that's all that you needed to replace.
Personally I find the amount of junk they're putting on new equipment to be horrible. The entire engine control module and other stuff on this tool cat could be run by a raspberry pi that cost under a hundred bucks... Just needs a few relay modules on it for the high current work.
