Do an Internet search for the lyrics - some sites say "I'm feeling different" and some say "I feel indifferent". I think it's the latter and, in my opinion, it fits the lyrics and makes more sense. Well, I feel indifferent about it and searching for the lyrics...all that time, wasted!
When I gave Sarah Jaffe the lyrics about 12 years ago , when she went college( equivalent of my University), she was a little older but I was wittier and gave as " dorm" friend( internet dating sites oddity, she barely sang country on scene of her own and I suggested her for "feeling different although she can choose the other misheard which wouldnt have a positive definitive outlet but a negative one. If you follow the lyrics, you would know someone with a psychologic drama like me would know to put it in positive way " the wording follows the story and enhances it". Nonetheless my prophecies indicated most people are bad influenced, least are positive but this tricky wording has attracted people not to stand too much in negative states thus attracting great attention & fame. So now I am more famous than that Romanian music producer in Hollywood.

Heard this song 8 years ago when I was only 22. For some reason I have it associated with a feeling of being comfortable with who I was, being anxiety free...just feeling free, I guess. Clementine became a state of mind for me that I wanted to keep or pursue in my life, i loved the idea so much that it became permanent on my skin, a constant reminder to myself that there is a 'place' where I can love myself.
I got a clementine tattooed on my arm because of that feeling. No depression, no anxiety.

I hate thinking about what my life would have been like if I never left my hometown and decided against a last minute spontaneous weekend getaway with a friend. The song hits so hard and takes me back to relive those carefree, spontaneous, adventurous memories and the pure joyous side of me. every single time I listen.

For me, it's a song about disappointment and becoming cynical with age. I've been in a relationship for 5 years, very committed and willing to work on problems, trying to find hobbys we could share and being supportive in difficult times. And got dumped, because he decided that he wants to discover the world and i'm a burden. "All that time wasted". Now, I would like to have someone special, but it's difficult to believe that I would be able to trust and won't get rejected anyway. And I wish I could go back in time, to this teenage naivete and innocence and have faith in true love again.

I've been coming back to this song for years. I first listened when I was younger, eager to get out and change my life into something amazing. I used to listen and dream about travelling the world and moving to a new city to start a new, more exciting life. Then I listened as I did all of those things. Now I'm listening wondering where I'll go next. I am still at the start of my journey and already have the best memories from the past few years. Life has so much beauty when you allow yourself to see it.

for me, this song is about growing up and changing the way you perceive things and relationships. The girl changed her mind and feelings (and probably burned some bridges) and she is thinking about the wasted time and about the things she wants to change about herself. "I wish I was a little more delicate" describes me a lot because I'm 6 feet tall and kind of tomboyish so I'm not exactly "delicate". Sometimes I wish I could go back but I've grown out of it

this song takes me way back
This song reminds me of the summer 2013 with my best friends. Long trips, bonfires on the beach, crazy parties, late night talks about who we were and what we wanted to do in this life, and our first heartbreaks. It’s crazy how everything changed. Listening to this brings me back to the bittersweet ending of our stories, but I guess all stories are like that, it’s what makes them epic.

Who raised you lol? This song, and likely kate's character in the movie, is referencing the old country folk song, "oh my darling clementine". In the folk song, the singer is missing the girl who died. This song by jaffe is saying she wishes she someone would mourn losing her in that way(and write a song about her). She feels like she just gets discarded, and is the one doing all the missing.

I responded because it annoys me that people's understanding of pop culture is limited to the last decade or so, and usually very narrow in scope. If you look back further, and explore all genres and forms(books, films etc), you can begin to understand references made in current works. It makes everything richer when you see how ideas first started and have been adapted and reused over time.

I was debating writing this comment every time I listen but what the heck why not.
When I heard this song like... 10 years ago it really spoke to me and this feeling I had, a couple months ago I came out as transsexual and while the Song gives me some sort of comfort it also makes me sad because it makes me think of the youth I could've had.
I think she means through all her expierences she had some that should have changed her but she was to broken to to care. And now that she faced her demons her delicacy will show her to live to a more fuller life. Just mah take 😊
