For anyone curious about the original guitar - Joe Balaguer absolutely offered to re-build or re-finish the Thicket from the first build for me if I'd wanted to. I decided to keep the guitar as is - I just wanted to make sure that anyone thinking of getting a guitar from Balaguer knows that Joe makes sure you will be satisfied with what you get.

love the stink face 🦨 the whole time you play
Trey! What amp did you use? The f sounds amazing! I got one of the balaguer diablo baritones (the cerulean blue one) from the limited run and it has their own hypernova pickups and I'm in drop f as well. 7 string.
Honestly, what happened to your last guitar is the exception to what Balaguer usually produces. You're the only person I know of that's ever had an issue with them and Joe stepped in, apologized, and offered to fix it for you after what happened which speaks to how much they care about their quality. One of these days, when I have the money, I want to pull the trigger on a Balaguer. It'll happen sooner or later.
May you have the Balaguer of your dreams.
I know it wouldn’t be your dream one but I was messing around and in early 2022 you can go for all of the cheapest options and get one for $1200-$1300. Same price as your cheapest American made guitars.
You can get a standard run one new for 950$ with premium specs
@@brendenginn6988 if you can get them in time
@@giovonemendoza6531 standard run is always available its the limited run thats hard to get
I can't put down my Balaguer, it's just too much fun to play! I have a 30 inch Espada with an evertune and I'm in my 3rd month waiting for a 27 with a hipshot hardtail. They make killer guitars 🤘🏼
What doesn’t make any sense to me is the boutique price for a guitar built in Korea and QC’d in the merica? I dunno man. Keisel is still top dog here
1000% with you on the headstock shapes! IT has to be reverse inline and look killer.
Happy NGD!! That thing is so clean. Storm Trooper vibes.
That is one SICK ASS Guitar. That looks fantastic Trey.
Joe and the squad always killl it!!
That has got to be the most badass user experience in ordering a guitar I've ever seen. I hear more and more about this company and I'm honestly incredibly impressed by everything I've seen and heard from them
The single bridge pickup look is a seriously underrated aesthetic in guitars.
Beautiful guitar, I ordered a Balaguer last week, now for the wait!
Looks and sounds dope! Awesome guitar!
Nicely done! I've been a Balaguer Artist 2017. They RARELY make mistakes and Joe ALWAYS makes good on them.
They should have this as a signature model because it's basically one I've wanted to get
broooo I love it sounds and looks so good man
i ordered mine in july and it is getting its final qc now!! so so excited:)
NGD is awesome almost no matter what it is. Doesn't need to be an expensive boutique axe to give me that smile like you have in the second half of this vid 🙂
When you were doing the selections on the builder I definitely was one of those people thinking “why is Trey picking bland options?” But now that it’s here, I’m eating my words. What a beautiful instrument!! Congrats man 🤘🏽
Simple builds sometimes look the best
They only do 16" radius fingerboards so I had to move on. and no fret size/material options, just medium jumbo SS. With all the other options they offer, I don't understand why they leave those out.
Ooh it's gorgeous! ❤️
Gotta love NGD!
I got me a baritone with soap bar pups… inspiring as hell.
Enjoy, Trey!
Looks and sounds great, but not really a fair redemption. It should have been a specialty finish IMO. You can’t really fuckup white and black. Then again not my money and I’m just a rando on the inter webs.
Sounds awesome!
Looks sick man!
You’re legit making me want to get this exact same guitar and specs. That’s delicious
They did some work on my Vega, no questions asked and at no expense to me, and after 4 months it's finally on it's way home.
Nothing is perfect, but Joe definitely stands by his work unlike other guitar companies. And their guitars play really good so the wait time and Joe's attention to detail are worth it.
Could you do a video walking through all the guitars you own? That would be super cool!
That thing sounds amazing, holy hell
This looks and sounds dope
Love my Balaguer and it looks pretty much just like the online build. Their customer service is second to none.
So would you say its worth it?
@@ophhate I'd say yes. I have one of the limited run baritone diablo 7 strings. It's my best guitar. But my 3 other guitars are 2 agiles 8 and 9 strings, and a solar 6 string. They are all good to me but the balaguer is my highest spec guitar. Swamp ash body, roasted maple neck (all my guitars are mahogany) , ebony board (all my guitars have ebony boards), hot passives, hipshot bridge, locking tuners.
Only if you like the fugliest designs out there. For all their customer service, their stuff isn't going to appeal to everyone.
Bare Knuckle are my favorite pick ups by far. I put a set of Rebel Yell in my PRS Custom 24, and a Riff-Raff / Mule mixed set in my Les Paul. They both Roar!
What string gauge you use? I play 28 and 29,7 scale guitars in drop F# and it seems 27 is doing the job just fine. Sick guitar! Thinking about getting white baritone espada soon.
Perfect Jordan Peterson impression at 8:50
Hey Trey, you didn't speak to the new guitar weight wise? I believe the standard ash they use is the heaviest wood they offer for the last build + the evertune. Was this one considerably lighter and felt more like a standard weight?
Oh man that thing looks so fucking good.
So glad you went with the ebony fretboard. I was about to cringe out if you went with the maple. It just didn't look right with the white and black. And that Bareknuckle aftermath is fukn ridiculous! Sounds fukn brutal!
Been thinking of getting a balaguer myself. What are your thoughts on the thin D neck profile? Might get that on mine.
Nothing like a baritone guitar to simultaneously give you both "stank" and "happy" face.
That white is rad. But I really like the natural. Grandma's table be damned!!
Very nice! I had a squier jim root tele, white (sold for $ to move), and ever since then I have a thing for white guitars. Now I really need a white tele with a trem...
That's pretty slick. Sometimes the basic solid color scheme is exactly what you need.
Don't worry Trey, I've thought about having a decorative truss rod cover as well. I'm glad that I'm not the only one whose thought of that xD
I get what you mean about having a gloss neck, but as someone who owns guitars with both satin and gloss neck guitars, I barely notice the gloss after I've played it in for a while. Obviously I notice the differences jumping in between a gloss and a satin neck, but both feel great in equal measure.
Joe was a friend of mine…. Very talented and even better person
Man I don't think I could ever give up 2 pickups, but damn does this guitar look good. Congrats!
Yeah I mean every other guitar I own has 2 so I get that
Absolutely, I think I'm just a stickler for variety in tones, but when you want just an absolute riff machine, I totally get why you'd do that. Looking forward to hearing some originals with it!
Cool guitar bro.
I have a one pickup astra 28.5 scale used it in the most gonged song of the songwriting contest
Balaguer ftw!
the single humbucker w/ coil tap is the way to go, good choice bruh
I recently got an ESP E-II full thickness. It's probably the best feeling guitar I have ever picked up. Damn thing has pick-up rings and it drives me absolutely nuts.
the full thickness EC's are CHONKIN
Thinking about getting the eclipse 87 rainbow crackle
Trey! What amp were you playing through? Were you boosting as well?
Would absolutely love a Balaguer, but firstly don’t think my skill level is currently just for a custom built guitar, plus Australia’s exchange rate pretty much doubles the cost of one. But awesome pick Trey, looks wicked.
O MY GOD! I NEEEED THISSSSS!!!!!!!
Honest preferences please. I've been playing in drop c and d standard tuning for the best part of a decade now on 24.75 and 25.5 inch scale guitars.
What tuning would I have to go down to before I start thinking about using a baritone scale guitar ?? Been considering it for a while now.
B standard
Oh that BKP sounds NASTY and I love it!
Dude! What timing. I ordered a 27" baritone from Balaguer too, and it's coming ANY DAY NOW. I can't contain myself. What gauge string setup did you go with? I didn't catch that in the video. I went with 14-68.
I’m not sure but the low string is an .80 hahaha
@@treyxaviermusic Ok sweet. I'm thinking of keeping mine in C#/DropB. First baritone, 40th birthday gift. I picked the hardware and told my wife and kids to pick color and shape. I'm a madman
a gambler
@@idhindsight 14s bro seems pretty tight for only drop C# 12s will suit you just fine for drop B. 14s is definitely more for Drop A
@@davidlaturnus6200 thanks bud. I’m sure I’ll be messing with it a bunch.
“That’s huge” *that’s not what she said*
Genius haha great video man
Pambertones are nice custom wound. Daryl Braun build a few with them in it
It looks so much better on video. You can’t really appreciate the contours and little details on the builder.
ooooh, it sounds nasteh!
As an owner of 5 Balaguers, I can totally give them my full endorsement. Super nice guys as well.
So would you recommend them? Honestly
@@giovonemendoza6531 100%
I have loved white guitars since day one
Balaguer. The caviar of guitars!
Nissssssssssssssssssce 🍻
Gotta cop me 1 of these gtrs
Hey, so sorry to hear about your issue about the guitars, still an amazing video that doesnt fail to make life a little less painful, thanks for everything Trey.
@@tophertaylor69 oh hell, I knew it sounded familiar and like ghost but I didnt remember it was from Trey, thank you man, have a great day!
You can learn how to play it here: czcams.com/video/npVGKUY6lHM/video.html
@@treyxaviermusic I sure will, both ghost type videos were hilarious but yeah, thank you all for everything ❤
bring on the baritone "riff salad"? 😝we need a baritone song writing skills tutorial here...
Cool guitar definitely don't like any tuning under drop C though.
13:39 i got an enter sandman yousician ad before this bro
that one is nice.
Balaguer has very nice models and they look like very solid instruments, but more than 2k per instrument made in South Korea, I don't doubt the quality but for that price you already get something Made in the USA, which doesn't depreciate in the same way as a Korean one whether custom or not; but it is an opinion, as always on this channel they make very good content and thanks for your work!
Team Balaguer all day!
This video was fun for me because I gave you the 420th like.
blez it smonk drungs fren
@@treyxaviermusic SAY WHAT NOW? HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Sick , mic drop 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
Funny stuff love it
7:46 "why would ever not get 24 frets?" because of the neck pickup placement. If you want that super creamy tone on a "standard" scale guitar, you have to omit those last 2 frets from the neck.
Puts the neck humbucker right under the natural harmonic at the 24th fret
Missed opportunity for John Goblikon to say "RIGHT NOW!"
8:49 That Jordan Peterson was perfect 😂😂😂
I honestly expected a bit more clarity and tightness out of that pickup, it sounds very muddy.
I am ashamed at my own immaturity for laughing so hard at the “Blackhawk” joke
A little less adventurous on the options, but still a nice beast.
One change I would have REALLY liked to see: a Cocobolo fretboard.
Pretty obnoxious pick-up tone... not bad.
wasnt the hardware supposed to be black chrome 🤔
nice K Hawk
I live next to their factory. Literally 3 houses away 😂
I with you. I love white guitars.
8:51 flawless jordan peterson impression
Damn does he really sound like Kermit the frog?
I follow them on ig.
but option paralysis the musical was already done by Dillinger escape plan
I’ve got two Balaguers and they’re the best guitars I have.
Wound third is the only way to go.
It's pretty solid... Personal preference I don't like those pickup covers, it the fact they are chrome with all that black and white aesthetic
Shoulda tuned it to FCGDAE.
Me wantey! Me likey! Me needy baritoney guitary!
Song at 14:45?? It's like right on the tip of my tongue
Scorched Earth Policy by Revocation
I was disappointed there were no Blackhawks at all in this video.....
Black Hawk Aftermath. Thanks for my bands new name.
A review!? Anyway here's Wonderwall
The Archetype looks like an old Gibson Victory
🥲 I want one!
