For me this was not awkward. The reporter/lady was being very sincere, honest and expressed from the heart. Unlike many interviews where it is usually a lot of promo mumbo jumbo. I admire her for this
This isn't THAT awkward. Just seems that Giuliana was a little starstruck and was touched by the film and started rambling. That's all.
Oh, Bradley should have won this Oscar. My respect to Malek, he was good. But Bradley was really breathing in the skin of his character. No bs in his performance...even for a second. It was so true and so natural! I loved it how he never pushed it too hard in his acting. It almost felt like I am watching somebody I know...just living his life. Doesn't matter, awards are awards...but Bradley really touched us deeply. Thank you, Bradley Cooper ! And thank you Lady Gaga for your crazy talent!
The competition was actually between Rami Malek and Christian Bale.Even William DaFoe had more chance of winning than Bradley. Though his performance was good. He carried A Star Is Born.

He was gracious enough. His words and expression were sincere. He thanked her three times. It's called acting. How can he explain HER reaction to his acting? It wasn't the time or place to be discussing deep questions. Besides, she answered her own question: "It's the power of love."

I personally feel that there was something about him at that moment of the interview that made him seem unapproachable and she couldn’t handle it very well. I don’t blame her.
I am not a fan of hers- or his really for that matter, I didn’t see the movie but the reason why I think he seemed unapproachable at that moment is because that movie had the opposite effect on him, or at least it seemed to- he split from his partner shortly after

I believe Lady Gaga and Bradley belong together** The Star is Born is and always will the best love story! There is a true message. In this movie. The struggle of alcohol and drugs but having a true love for each other and standing by that person! In the sound of music and listening to that every musical note can make all the difference*** many blessings to you both.

Myself, as one of the last normal humans out there, who isn't a social media simp/lemming, can say it was pretty straightforward and Cooper was simply trying to respect her question with as much engagement as he could in that context.
Was this really that awkward? It was different where she was coming from such a personal place in her question, too bad she was long-winded, but Bradley could have embraced her vulnerability more than shrugged it off.. :/

That was quite the deep question for the red carpet when most are asking who you're wearing and congratulating you!!
Are ppl serious? It was such a inappropriate question for all the background noise that was happening. And he had a very good response. It was hard to even focus on the question with the background noise,yelling and cheering.

Eta: i met sam Elliott last Friday at a taping of ‘the ranch’ and I sobbed while I told him how ‘a star is born’ affected me as a person with a disability suffering depression. He was very kind and said thank you and said he would pass on the message to ‘Bradley and stefanie’ but really he didn’t say much. It’s an awkward situation when someone has a reaction to something you don’t expect. What i got from Meeting Sam, and seeing this interview, is they had no idea how deep this movie actually was and how it would affect people. Bradley just wanted to tell a love story but it is SO much more.

She didn't pick up on his 'let's keep this light' cues. He kind of laughed off her first question as being too deep, then she went on to ask a very similar question only a few minutes later. Plus, he probably didn't completely hear the question since it went on for so long and there were people screaming in the background. Not super awkward but she's not really a great interviewer, he wasn't up to giving deeply insightful answers, and the environment was challenging.
I think it was a sweet moment. Not sure what people expected Bradley to do.

Julia appears nervous grappling for words and it makes Bradley uncomfortable. He looks puzzled when she tells him about her and her husband falling more in love. She appears to be standing in his personal space a bit too much too. But other than that . . . :-)

She was long winded and scatterbrained but Bradley has always had a bit of an awkward personality so his reaction to her wasn't personal. I always thought he seemed kind of aspergish.
YES it's taken me soo long to find anyone else who thought that!! he is 100% up there, from the obsessive way he does things, to like, the weird unpredictable social persona he has. both charming and majorly rude and awkward and then, at other times, smooth .... like this interview and reaction to her emotion feels aspergers as you said, the way he is looking at her face too, like taking her in impersonally. i love him & have watched so many interviews, and most of the time he's 5 seconds behind, thinking about what he or they just last said. i love figuring these things out from afar.

For someone who is from my beloved Bethesda, Maryland, I am truly disgusted and ashamed. This interview asking deep questions to someone that you really don't know that well is not only awkward, but you can also see the distain in Bradley Cooper's face that he had for her. I tried to forgive her for the "Patchouli and weed" comment about Zendaya a few years back, but now this.....it made that dark cloud above her come back. It's time to pack it up and say goodbye. Give the slot to Jeannie Mai.
