So happy to be back! I didn't intentionally take such a long break but Isabelle's birthday, Christmas and lots of home stuff ended up keeping me away from CZcams for quite some time. I discovered TikTok recently and realised so many of my DIYS are perfect for that. I thought it would be fun to make some potentially viral clips and see which ones get most views. Honestly it sucks that several channels got their content rated for kids because I enjoyed talking in the comment section and I was a little bit shocked when it was disabled

CZcams made a separate app for kids and yet still ask “is this for kids?” Smh. They aren’t like the original CZcams I knew when I was younger

Yep that's what makes no sense, and I've even talked to people from Google about this who agree. I think they are trying to make a huge gesture towards the FTC but all the creators are being punished for it

The whole "Is you content made for kids" thing, Its ruining creators they need to stop
Kids should simply be instructed to use the CZcams kids app only and that content has to be certified child friendly... everything else should be seen as adult content, especially crafting with materials like resin, acetone, nail polish etc. that are toxic.
It really should only fall on the parents shoulders to decide what is safe for their kid and CZcams should police content that is directly aimed kids, but definitely not kid friendly (ie. The Paul brothers, those twisted cartoon shorts, the pregnant elsa video, ect.)
And videos that are marked as “kids content” is probably super dangerous for kids to be watching. Like I watch some food asmr channels and they make food look like non edible items but I’m old enough to understand that but kids might not and it makes no sense.

@@Jiminie53421 oh 100% they can watch, but a lot of art projects should be only be repeated by an older teen or adult. I don't want my kids taking my resin, clay, small power tools, and deciding that it's a play thing all because a video was called kids project. Than agian even coppa is going what the hell CZcams when it comes to punishing both creators and users. I'd recommend you watch some of the panels they've held.
So disappointed that CZcams is hurting people who have done nothing wrong while people like Jake Paul make the trending page 😔 I always look forward to your relaxing videos!
Thank you! The tiny upside of COPPA is that views and comments are hidden for "kids content". There are often DIYs I want to make which I know won't get as many views and I hesitate about doing them because it's disheartening to compare those vids with trending/viral vids. Now I have the option of making random stuff I love, without worrying about views/engagement since I can voluntarily mark those videos as for kids and the stats are hidden.

I suggest including more sharp tools and maybe incorporate substances that are not safe for kids to handle because they're too young to handle it on their own. It sucks that creators have to think around the regulations like this
This is funny in a dystopian way. My guess is that CZcams's algorithm looks at the estimated ages of people who have already seen the video, and compares it with keywords in the tags or description of the video. If the video reaches a certain limit, or mentions a specific number of keywords (which might be weighted, eg "kid's toy" might be more kid-targeting than "fun toys" but they may both count as potentially kid-targeting), it gets flagged. That's only my guess as a layman though.
Start every video with a selection of knives so it's not kid friendly lol

Just wanted to say, I'm so happy she addressed this. I wouldn't call this channel a child channel or one just got adults which is kinda annoying that it ends up falling into the coppa hole. Her videos are so relaxing and amazing and I'm sure we'll stay no matter what
I really feel for all the content creators who have to bend over backwards because of these stupid rules about making things kid friendly when...kids probably shouldn't be unsupervised on the internet in the first place and it's the parents' faults for not being more responsible.

BTW with the lipstick cutting.. did you try heating up the knives before slicing? Heating might help get smoother cuts that don't curl or even help the smaller knives not chunk out. 💖
As for my favorite from this vid.. I enjoy clay cracking the most but watching the glittery polish drizzle over the clay balls was very soothing. 💖
The strangest thing is that another shower jelly video (the turquoise one from my last asmr compilation) went viral on TikTok hours after I uploaded this video! I got over 1000 followers in one day because of shower jelly and I actually thought this trend might be too old by now 😅

Setting interesting things on fire would b very satisfying/ aesthetically pleasing and it wouldn’t be content “for kids”. Different substances burn different colors so it could be really cool to experiment with

Same, I first got into CZcams craft videos in my mid 20s and loved them! I watched them every night before going to sleep and that eventually inspired me to start my own channel. It's sad that CZcams assumes miniatures/resin/kawaii things are mostly for kids.

Maybe try putting nearly-dry slime around a clay ball, and then when the slime dries, seeing if it cracks?

Aww that sucks 🥺! I did realise there's a tiny upside to COPPA in that the comments and views are hidden. This gives you a bit more freedom to just make content you love without worrying about how "successful" the video is, or comparing it to more successful videos on your channel.

I definitely plan to continue making videos because I can't imagine my life without CZcams, and I'm optimistic I can work around COPPA. The past year was very difficult for me because of adjusting to being a new mom and a complete lack of free time. However I've finally grown used to my new routine and I can find ways to start working again without being overly stressed out or tired. I've also registered Isabelle for kindergarten so in 1-2 years I'll have loads of time to work again 😄

You make such a strong point at the start, crafts/crafting are for EVERYONE of all ages, not just for kids, adults can draw knit or sculpt with clay.
I customize MLP/LPS toys which when this news came out scared me since they are kids' toys, but I never targeted kids and just made the videos for fun and just for others to watch and enjoy.

Look on Aliexpress, the shipping may take over 2 months to ship but the prices are amazing! I once bought some super cute pens on Aliexpress for 50 cents each; and one Amazon they were 3 dollars each. But it does take a while to ship, I think the fastest I’ve ever had it shipped was 2 weeks.

I'm almost an adult, I'm formally bedridden but now housebound, so CZcams is basically my life. I watch it for hours a day just reading the comments because it's one of my only ways of communicating with people!

The lipstick one was my favorite. It kind of looks like candy, and the fact that it smells like fruit makes it even more convincing

I’ve been watching her channel for so long and it’s sad to see that coppa has been ruining channels like hers
Try putting the clear polish over it first and let it dry, then record pouring a more colorful polish over the pile. Maybe the clear polish will work as a shield and you can get the best cracking with something that shows up great on camera.
I am in my 20's and I love art, crafts, and DIY videos. I hate seeing artists struggle to express themselves on youtube just because they like art. Art's and crafts isn't exclusive to kids
