    In my experience of solo maining chien pao for 5 months now, the eternal problem is that baxcalibur is REQUIRED to do any meaningful attacking.

      you can kind of mitigate it with a palkia vstar line

    • @Mattaiu

      Chien po has major potential, it’s just missing a few pieces. Baxcalliber is great, but the issue is without it the deck can’t function.
      Sure palkia exists and can help, but especially with iron hands, it’s just a loss no matter what, got a plakia setup, alright ima boss KO it for 3 prizes, then just prize trade after you kill it.
      We need better ways to accelerate energy, a alternative option.

    I play with chien-pao ex too, unfortunately as in Brazil chien-pao is super expensive I play with just two and to compensate for this I also use 2x2 Palkia Vstar.
    For draw power I prefer mew ex than bibarel, because I don't have to depend on just evolutions

    I just hate that I REALLY want this Deck to work. I don't have any group to play near me and online is just.. different. Which means I don't have too much time to test stuff for a second deck. Built a Miraidon Deck but idk, I'm not too happy yet and went back to Chien-Pao for the League I went to yesterday (1 1/2h drive on a workday afternoon, that's the closest to me) as we played a short fun tournament - so no more testing Miraidon again, so I just wanna stick to CP xX

    Great video Jared, I really like Chien Pao as well and yes it can be a bit bricky at times. Do you think adding a 1-1 Lumineon/Forest Seal Stone would help to get out of a jam? Keep up the good work.

    What are your thoughts on playing Chien Pao Town Store with Rotom V/Lumineon V... and without Iron Hands? I felt that my deck is way more consistent and I was surprised how often I was able to pull off a Counter Catcher/Boss's Order with Canceling Cologne play.
    With that said... I didn't even think about dropping down to 2 Chien Paos. I might try that out with my deck.

    • @jgrimesey

      It's very top heavy and you'll run out of steam to an iono chain most.likely. Does not have much staying power

  • @DJJakeyJake
    @DJJakeyJake Před 8 měsíci +1

    I think Chien-Pao has a pretty good matchup spread so its still my main deck I play on live. I'm playing basically the same list. I took out 1 Iono for 1 switch and I took out 1 Earthen Vessel for an Arctibax. The Arctibax is cool because it helps counter deevolution and makes it easier to set up your 2nd Baxcallibur. Its also a one prize attacker that can hit 80 and kill mimikyus and comfeys.

    • @TheWillrocks51
      @TheWillrocks51 Před 8 měsíci

      It doesn’t counter deevolution. The idea of deevolution is get 100 damage on the stage 2 then Deevo and knock out the middle evo. It’s not meant to make sure the evolution doesn’t came back. It’s to get stage down KO’s. Runnjng arctibax does nothing to help this. You’re better off running tool jammer

    • @jgrimesey
      @jgrimesey  Před 8 měsíci +1

      That's cool , problem is you usually need rare candy Bax turn two anyways. But that might be decent

    • @DJJakeyJake
      @DJJakeyJake Před 8 měsíci

      @@TheWillrocks51 I understand how devolution is being used and in my experience testing it actually has been working. It’s harder for them to spread 90 damage than it is to spread 60 and it’s a nice way to work towards the second Bax while still maintaining tempo and using your Iridas for SER and Vessels. Tool Jammer is an idea but it requires it to be on the active so that doesn’t seem ideal. Also, how would you find it?

    • @TheWillrocks51
      @TheWillrocks51 Před 8 měsíci

      @@DJJakeyJake you find it the same way you find DeEvo lol. Every meta deck minus Snorstall has multiple ways to hit 90 and DeEvo easily. You can feel free to keep using it lol. I was just pointing out it does not help counter DeEvo like you said. Tool jammer counters it. DeEvo slows that’s it

    the problem is chien pao always need baxcalibur. while other deck can mix and match with any card without any dependencies, chien pao cannot work without bax. so if the opponent get a lot of boss, they will always target bax, or frigi. and if your bax gone, its basically game.

    • @jgrimesey
      @jgrimesey  Před 8 měsíci

      Yeah that's why you always keep a Frigibax for backup. It's not hard to do when you draw a lot with bibarel you just have to manage resources

  • @pnkseven
    @pnkseven Před 8 měsíci

    In my list I use 1 copy of Palkia Vstar to go against 1 price decks and to help when I don't get my baxcalibur set up in time or get knocked out, I use 2 bosses instead of one counter catch it seems more usable and a pokegear instead of the 2nd Iono so I have more chances to find Irida.

  • @wasthatthebiteof8796
    @wasthatthebiteof8796 Před 8 měsíci

    My opinion on why: you can ignore chien pao safely.
    Chien pao discards all energy off the field with most of its attackers, meaning that if you just target down the bax, theres no viable accelerated attackers to swing with. So you have to set up multiple stage 2's in a deck that is already corrupted by consistency issues. For example: in gardevoir, you just ignore the baby gardy in the active, you have to deal with the 240 damage swing if you target the ex. Even with dialga, you cannot afford to ignore Dialga at risk of nuking your active. The fact that Pao can not attack w/o Baxcalibur really hurts the deck.

    • @jgrimesey
      @jgrimesey  Před 8 měsíci

      You have bibarels to draw half your deck every turn it's fine. It's only inconsistent getting there

  • @alextheballer20
    @alextheballer20 Před 8 měsíci

    My main issues with the deck are losing to Miraidon (which should be beatable but they always seem to pop off turn 1) and the fragility of baxcalibur. Im trying a 1-1 ice rider line with forest seal stone and 2 melony to use as a high hp efficient attacker. Im also not convinced hands is better than the original cross switcher cologne version bc either way you take 2 prizes but switcher cologne does more to wreck their board state.

    • @jgrimesey
      @jgrimesey  Před 8 měsíci

      It doesn't lose to Miraidon😭 you have ninja into counter catcher line to force them to take 1 prize if they go aggro lol, then you take 3 with catcher hands on squawk

    • @alextheballer20
      @alextheballer20 Před 8 měsíci

      So after playing your list and following more detailed directions, it feels like the only actual autoloss is Snorlax stall bc we run no switching cards and the only gust we play is bundle/counter catcher. Is there any way to play around that or do we just take the L to the match up?
