Oh thank you so much, I really appreciate that!💪 Yes of course! That is a great idea, will do! we have a huge house we will be shooting walls on in about 5 days, and ill definitely make a video on it. thanks for the comment
Wish I found ya before painting my interior barn doors today 😔 quick question for ya, I’ve got a cheap Amazon spray gun which I’m spraying water borne alkyd with, which tip (came with 1.5 - 3.0) do is optimal for this situation? I’ve thinned it down with water + this flow additive I bought from sw so I guess my question would be what type of consistency am I looking for?
Hello Alexander, so I would think that if its a waterborne alkyd, and it has to be thinned, then I always try to keep product thinning to a minimum. I know you have to for your gun, but try to find a mixture that is as little thinned down as you can, while still being able to shoot a good spray fan. Most waterborne alkyd will lay down really nice and will self level really good. They usually don't tend to be too thick so start thinning it down little by little, run some test sprays, and once it comes out of the gun evenly, let it rip! Thanks for the comment and let me know how it goes👊💪
I used the same paint and sheen it was old but seemed fine I mixed it well strained it but the finish coat is easily marred and scratched. Not sure if it's the fact that its eggshell or just old paint from a couple years ago haha. How durable do you find it to be ?
I actually had some issues with that when I first started using it, but I have learned that the Aristoshield likes a light tack coat first, especially with the ultra deep bases and dark colors...I've had really good results building lighter coats and a little Sanding in-between 👊💪 For some reason, when this stuff gets too heavy on mils, it doesn't bite as well. Thin to win, just at least 2 coats sometimes 3. Thanks for the comment 💪🙏
Awesome Videos. I have the same sprayer and the 310 FFLP tip. I am spraying the Benjamin Moore Advance, similar waterborne Alkyd. Any recommendations for setting the pressure dial on that Ultra Gun? It doesn't seem to leave tails the same as a full airless sprayer setup.
Nice work Mark💪🤝 yes I just play with the pressure and test before shooting, with a fflp I always start at about 40 percent pressure and then get the fan to not have any tails and that is what I go with. With Laquer it's so much thinner so pressure is down, but with waterborne and latex pressure is usually up at about 60 to 75 percent depending on tip. thanks for the comment
Hello Mimi, and sorry for the delay! these are called door Deckers. They are pretty cool because you can flip the door over and do the work on the other side. Definitely tey to find then on the internet, some places sell them for ridiculous prices. thanks for the comment
Got another question. I have watched a bunch of your videos and you have used several different kinds of paint, Dunn Edwards, Sherwin Williams, Latex, Alkyd... I am doing a built in entertainment center and want a really durable (we have grandkids) paint that will lay down well. I have an airless sprayer. I am a little overwhelmed by the number and kinds of paint that is out there to use. Thanks
Hello Bill, so sorry for the delay, I am still getting the hang of seeing all the comments! So I would say the strongest would be a Pigmented Laquer, but they are really tricky and stinky to work with! My go to is the dunn Edwards Aristoshield waterborne alkyd. Do 2 or 3 light coats and that stuff will dry super hard and be really durable. If u can't get that sherwin Williams also has a waterborne alkyd and it also dries pretty hard, either one should treat you well! 💪👊 Let me know if you need anything else or what paint store is near you, Benny more also has a good one, but so far my favorite is Aristoshield
Hello Bill, we used a fast dry latex wood primer from sherwin Williams. I will see if I can find a pic of it, but pretty sure it was a quick dry exterior latex primer👊💪
Oh right on! That is awesome to hear you are local💪👊 Best named road in the valley! I have done some nice homes out there, that is definitely the direction that all this new construction is heading! Thanks for the comment and reaching out! talk to u soon
Do you make the carpenters pre hang the door with the threshold installed before you paint the door? The reason I ask is I’ve seen a lot of instances where either the carpenters or the weather proofer do a cut to the bottom of the door post paint. The weatherstripping guy might put some coat the bottom with some shellac if he’s thorough, but the carpenter isn’t going to do it.
Always love the education. Love the channel. Learned a lot. High quality work.👍

What is the device on the door ends you're using to suspend the door?
