This experiment was conducted so poorly. I mean realistically (tattoos or not) I wouldn’t let any random person on the street use my phone incase they tried to steal it
Yeah exactly! Same thing with the brownies, I wouldn’t wanna eat unwrapped food from some stranger on the street
My friend got her phone stolen by someone asking to borrow it. They literally done a runner with it.
Also the ginger girl was actually a lot better at approaching people than the others
Dumb propaganda to make people feel bad for using common sense. Tattoos or not I’m not lending my phone to a stranger. It’s too expensive. I’m not taking brownies either.
The thing is, if a person I didnt know asked to borrow my phone I'd probably ignore them too. Too risky.
Thats so wierd in Canada i have asked a stranger before to let me borrow their phone to call someone, and they let me. But guess that has a lot to do with us being Canadians
I've asked only 4 times and it's been 100% hit rate.
I think the reason is 3 times I had my dog with me. He's a fluffy little boy.
@Luminosity ye sorry, I was raised in a place where talking to strangers can get you mugged at best so..
Just, sometimes it's better to ignore someone even if it hurts their feelings, I'd rather care about my own well being, thanks
If you don't want the phone to be stolen couldn't you hold the phone out towards them on speaker? or ask someone else to help.
@@nekosheken4410
How does talking to a person get mugged any more than not talking to a person? are you talking about pickpocketing?
I wouldn't take food from anyone not standing in front of a food establishment. Sketchy.
So what? you're not everyone. The experiment was performed with tattooed versions and non-tattooed version of people, so with that control the data can show whether there is an increase or decrease in people helping people with face tattoo.
Also, what's sketchy about it? Where's the motivation to do something bad? That's being paranoid.
@@MsHojat I think it could be sketchy beyond something being wrong with the food, it's a common tactic to offer something for "free" as a hook to reel people into something else.
Asking to borrow a phone and offering free vegan brownies aren’t the questions to scale reactions from the public.
@@PsykoFeen Yes, or the time I suppose. Charities using young people on the streets to approach people asking for money probably haven't done these guys any favours too!
You are so right that was a poor documentary oh how realistic nothing came out of that in my opinion
I have a fear of someone stealing my phone if they ask to use it - doesn't matter who or what they look like. My brain instantly goes, if I give this stranger my phone they're going to run away with it.
What I have done, in the past, was responded to them by saying, "I can make a phone call for you. What is you name & what is their number?"
i totally understand. i think asking for directions would've been better.
@@adamrspears1981 That's a good idea. You could make the call for them and put it on speaker phone while still holding the phone.
I think i would probably point them to the nearest phone box and say I would give them the money
I don't care what the person looks like, I'm not going to let them use my phone. You can't trust anyone honestly

Definitely agree! Been there :/ My husband has dreadlocks, a PhD and a relevant position in a big Company. But what stands out to people is the way you look and where you're from, not if you're a good person, polite, educated and respect others. UK is in good company anyway. We moved a lot for work and I must say it's always the same story.
I don’t trust people in general.
Life with Danna123 I know right! Cause if a b... chick takes my phone and runs. I would have to tackle her, and we’re fighting right there. Idc if we’re in the middle of the street or if she’s 92 years old (age is nothing but a number). It’s on.
I wouldn't accept food off the street whether the person has tattoos or not. Unfortunately we can't always trust strangers. The way they look wouldn't sway me one way or the other.
A lot of people are saying this with regards to the food or their phone, but people don't seem to realize that this doesn't matter, because not everyone does so. That's the whole point of the control subjects; they had no tattoos so they're the baseline. Maybe they only get 20% of people to grab a food sample, but it's a major difference between that and 4%.
I'm fairly heavily tattooed and have facial piercings. Yeah, some people stare at me, but most are friendly. I have never had anyone confront me about my appearance in a negative way.
The way this channel goes about showing how "discriminative" people are towards tattooed people is ridiculous. I don't care what a person looks like. I'm not going to take food from a stranger or let a stranger borrow my phone. I don't think this is people being judgemental. It's just people being cautious. Good grief.

Some things you allow can hurts you and that you don't allow can hurts you so it is chances
this reminds me of the quote "you're free to make the choice but you are NOT free of the consequences", it was sad to see these people being judged as they all seemed lovely but unfortunately getting a noose tattooed on your face is not going to make you seem approachable. personally I don't let anyone that asks borrow my phone because I'm scared they'll run off with it LOL but people want to feel safe and since face tats aren't a norm these reactions weren't surprising.
Georgia Grace yes but when people keep on saying “that’s what happens when you do something against the norm...” or that just “how it is..” it just sounds lazy. Nothing ever has to be against the norms of you open your mind and stop having a norm. This comment is just ignorant. Doesn’t matter what you would do about your phone, the actual video shows that people are prejudice and so stuck in their close mindedness, which shouldn’t be the “norm” that they denied people who might just need some real help just because of how they look.
It sucks that face tattoos is so directly linked to crime in people's mind, but you also have to admit that face tattoos is associated to risk-taking behaviour, and that risk-taking behaviour is in turn associated with crime.
@cherry pie in any reasearch database of your choosing. look up the terms "risk-taking behaviour" or "impulsivity" with "tattoo" or "offending" and you will have find a handful of valid studies that support those relationships. I am aware of the lack of studies concerning the relation between tattoos and offending, which is why I never made that direct claim
It's also a choice. If you have face tattoos, it's fair to say you're the type of person who gets face tattoos. It's not like you can say that about race or gender.
Yep nailed it, it's a sign of not thinking about the consequences of your actions, when i see someone with a face tattoo i just think bad decision maker.
I mean FFS you don't need a study to back this up its just common sense.
No one deserves to be attacked for tattoos. Yes, we choose tattoos but violence is too far...

i mean, the lady with the black hair is asking people to use their phone like she's reading off a script...its not genuine...if you were really in distress, like it was a complete emergency, you may act different, and people would react accordingly. These three just sound like a walking set-up.
Plus the Spanish accent (she’s Argentinian)... I am coming at this from a linguist‘s perspective and as a person of colour who is adopted: if you look or sounds foreign people will help you less or hesitate. I’ve experienced it many times.

Quite foolishly *you also had them change their clothes.* Surely that disrupts the (already rather ill conceived) experiment?
Also: Insulting those who didn't help them is pretty spoiled behaviour. People have a right not to engage with others if they so choose.
Face tattoo or not I would never let a stranger use my phone
So what? it doesn't change the stats of tattooed-vs non-tattooed. It's not like they _only_ looked at tattooed people.
You could be that stranger in need of help some day. But that's how selfish that society is
To paraphrase a speaker I've heard on diversity and inclusion: we are not in control of our first thought. But we do have control and responsibility in our second thought and our first action. I appreciated the woman who said initially she was afraid but didn't want that to be who she was. It's okay to have a negative first thought. What comes after that is more important.

@Snails40 People like you are a sign of uneducation and ignorance....
As someone who is relatively heavily tattooed, the choice to get those tattoos is no one else's but your own. Therefore, I don't think you can realistically expect everyone else around you to necessarily feel comfortable approaching someone who they might deem looks a bit intimidating. I can't speak for every tattooed person, but a lot of us do get tattoos as a form of armour, to kind of make people keep their distance. Because it can look intimidating to a lot of mainstream, clean skinned society. If you aren't prepared to have people stop and stare and generally just give you a wide berth, then maybe don't get heavily tattooed. I was fully aware of the potential consequences before I got my tattoos and decided that for me personally the pros outweighed the cons. However I am also fully aware that because of my tattoos I will be turned down for certain jobs, although I am employed in a tattoo friendly work environment right now. But you do limit a lot of potential opportunities through modifying your body. People judge, it's just what they do. First impressions do make an impact and I am realistic about that. So if you want to go to the extreme and heavily tattoo yourself, then by all means go right ahead, just be aware of the possible downsides to it and don't have a sook when other people don't see your tattoos as a creative outlet like you do. The world is definitely changing but there will possibly always be at least a slight stigma attached to being heavily tattooed and if you don't like it, then I wouldn't recommend doing it
I think it's only the older generation that judge anyone 35 or under would not judge unless they are a snob

believe it or not having a noose drawn on your face is not something that makes you approachable. This is something they CHOSE to do. They should have weighed the benefits against the potential issues. Your face tells a lot about you. If a man has not shaved his face for months and has a hobo beard, he is actively sending a message that he does not put effort into making himself look good. The same way, people who get tatoos on their face are actively sending a message that causes them to be less approachable. They made a decision and they live with the consequences.
There's a difference between someone that has a "hobo" beard and someone that takes care of their beard imo.

The whole point of doing something taboo is to do something taboo. It's literally self imposed discrimination. How can they possibly whine that they get discriminated when everybody knows that's what happens with face tats. Having these tats is perfectly fine as long as you are happy to accept everything it entails, including how people might see you. That's the point. The point is to be different. I'm not likely to loan my phone to any random person on the street no matter who, but it certainly would not be because of their tattoos. In fact, I love tattoos and I have several myself. Having saidthat, I will say never in a million years will I do my neck or face. there is just no way to cover that up if you regret it unless you want to put on serious cover up makeup every day. There's this great comedian named Shayne Smith who has face and neck tattoos he got when he was very young, and he absolutely regrets them - obviously one of the main staples of his act - and he's hilarious and a really nice guy! Lots of people get tattoos and lots get bad tattoos LOL You shouldn't categorize people based on bad choices of tattoo artists or of tattoos
I'm with you. I have eight tattoos, and I plan on more ink. When I got my first tattoo there was sign hanging in the shop that said "Welcome to your new addiction" little did I know this statement would ring true, in my life anyways. Most artists won't touch a face, and some won't touch the hands. I know if an artist has a client that wants a facial tattoo they go to great lengths to talk them out of it or they meet several times to make sure this is the right decision for the client. I can say that anyone I've ever randomly ran into and met that had tattoos were always really fun. They were polite, and non-threatening. I think people who have tattoos are judged way to harshly. It takes a lot of money to have nice tattoos, and most of us learn the hard way with at least one tattoo that we should've gone to a reputive artist instead of our friends buddy. I felt really bad that the individuals featured in this documentary were judged so harshly. All three have a story to tell, and they all seemed really great. It's unfortunate that people judge a book by it's cover, and are never willing to open it to read. I understand being cautious, but someone offering a free brownie? Come on!

I’m heavily covered in tattoos and often attend black tie charity events. I get the biggest kick out of the older generation (60-80’s) who come up to me thinking that my tattoos are a part of my dress and are amazed that it’s all tattoo work. It starts a conversation about how they viewed tattoos and meeting and being able to talk to me has given them a different perspective to think about. I usually get a hug.
Wonderful video. Beautiful people. Thank you for making this.
Having done something which immediately and visually sets you apart from mainstream society, it seems more than a bit disingenuous to then blame society for not trusting you as easily as someone who hasn't chosen to so visibly move away from a shared group identity. Calling it 'prejudice' (literally, "pre judging") suggests that it's somehow akin to racism, but this is (intentionally) misleading. It's not PRE-judging, it's just JUDGING, on the basis of the individual's choices.
But isn't someone pre judging what a tattooed person's moral compass is, or their intelligence, or career?
I mean, there are a whole lot of people who see someone with tattoos and assume they are unemployed deviants who use drugs and sleep around. Tattooed women (and some men) are often sexually assulted because it is assumed that if they choose to look different, they must be asking for it.
Yes, unlike skin color, we can choose whether or not to be tattooed. That doesn't mean tattooed people deserve to be treated as subhuman either.
@@pinds83 Certainly, but that isn't what is being talked about here -- it's an absurd leap from being less likely to lend someone a phone on the street to suggesting that someone 'deserves' to be sexually assaulted, or that they are somehow subhuman. No one's humanity is in question here; it's about group identity, and one of the ways that people have signaled group belonging for all of human history is by the choices that they make about their own appearance.
@@curtispalmer2817 I'm not saying not lending a phone and sexually assaulting someone are equivalent. You said it's not prejudice to judge tattooed people. I questioned that statement. You read way too much into that without addressing the prejudice issue.
@@pinds83 You jumped straight from “won’t take a brownie on the street” to “questioning a person’s moral compass.” The assumptions we make about a person may well turn out to be incorrect - but I disagree with the idea that we shouldn’t make any assumptions about anyone based on how they choose to present themselves. I’m sure that prejudice against tattooed people exists, just as it does for other visibly identifiable groups, like: people driving big trucks with gun racks; people wearing police uniforms; people wearing gang colors, etc. - but that doesn’t mean that making assumptions about a person based on the information at hand is prejudicial.

They chose that difference, so judging them based on it is completely reasonable. If someone dressed up in gang colors I'm a lot less likely to hire them than if they dressed with nice suit pants and a tie.

They can have them lasered off. That technology is improving all the time. It would just be a few appointments over the course of a few weeks. Tattoos are not so permanent nowadays. I have two tats on my shoulder and bicep that I'm having removed. They are easy to cover up with a t-shirt, but I've changed a lot in the last 10 years and no longer want them. Removal is far more affordable than it used to be. Face tats look ok when you're young, but they don't age well at all. They'll probably want them off when they're older.
It HURT me A LOT when I had a tattoo removed from my belly. This was last year. Keep that in mind people. Some people have low pain tolerance and to me getting it removed was 10X worse than when I got it.@@janejan9728
I understand where these people are coming from and I totally agree with them that there is prejudice against face and hand tattoos. BUT, you have to be weary of what you get on your face and hands and where it's placed. You cannot expect people to accept you after years of face tattoos being gang related.
Its how you approach people and the aura you give off. Not just about looks.
I have to add that when I went for a corporate job after they offered me the job, I revealed my full sleeve and other arm tattoos as I was going to represent the company. My boss at the time said she didn’t care. She said my professionalisms would overcome anything prejudice people might have. On the other hand, I have family members that had a shocked expression on their face or straight up said "it's ugly". Hearing compliments is nice, but I couldn't care less when someone says they don't like it. It's my hair, it's on my head. But that doesn't mean I have to enjoy if someone is rude based solely on what/who they think I am. Opinions and actions are two very different things.
That is a fair point. I still don’t think a person who has chosen to look different deserves to be beaten or harassed though. Violence shouldn’t be okay even if a person “made their bed”.
This is ExactLY how I reacted @ 19:35 when I first became homeless!! The eyes . . . . . either starring or condemning
. . . then looking away. It was so hurtful . . . no mercy. I understood now, why people would use any means possible, alcohol and drugs, to chase the pain away, to block those eyes from my mine. So, fantastic doc. The actors, brave candid gifts of themselves. Thank you for sharing your marvelous experience.
Della is seriously pretty. Like her skin tone with that face and that hair? Looks like a doll!
It’s not sad... it’s normal healthy human psychology, which has kept us safe and alive for 200,000 years. face tattoos signal a ton of things that don’t feel safe and approachable to a stranger, super obvious
This series needs to stop, is not entertaining in the least. I really don't feel bad that these people want to be different and then are treated as such. Also the situations that they put them in are completely unrealistic, I wouldn't take food from a guy on the side of the street and I wouldn't let one borrow my phone... Please just stop these
As a heavily tattooed person (including hand tattoos but none on face) I completely agree with this comment.
Yeah maybe in a supermarket (That I can sue if it is poison). it's true lol
If you don’t like then don’t watch.
I agree though, some random person in the street, I wouldn’t take food from them.
A good friend of mine has facial tattoos and let me just say: he's the kindest, most thoughtful person. He's very intelligent and inspiring. Please don't judge a book by its cover
At least put them in an apron when you’re having them hand out food lol. It’s so weird having them stand around in their casual clothes on a street corner
I'm working on my sleeves but for myself I wouldnt get face tattoos
That was so interesting ! And also sad, people are so mean and close minded that’s crazy. I live in Belgium and I often got people staring at me, being mean or something juste because I have tattoos and red hair. When I’m in the UK i feel so much better and comfortable so I find it even more crazy to see this documentary that happens in the UK ! Thanks for this, also can we have those people names ? I want to follow them on Instagram :)
All of those people and tattoos looking dope!
I don't feel bad for these people. This was their choice to get a face tattoo and they should not expect everyone to be so accepting. I'm not against tattoos whatsoever (I have two of them myself) but I personally would never get a face tattoo, the cons outweigh the pros.
Am I the only one who thinks Lilly is gorgeous?! So sweet and so badass ❤️
I hate her hair. Not a fan of the pale face with bright lipstick ad lots of eyeliner either. It's like an artificial human. I don't mind the tattoos much though; it's like the least of the problems with her.
She looks so good with these tattoos 😍
I have several tatts, and I love them! Yes, it’s an awesome addiction. Anyway, these ladies look beautiful!!
I have tattoos but this is ridiculous. Getting a tattoo on your face is a sign you lack good judgment skills, I would expect people to treat you like you have poor judgment skills.
@@terrandroid So was human sacrifice. Got a good couple thousand years in while it was all the rage. Moot point.
Exactly thats what i think when i see face tattoos = someone who doesn't value the consequences of their actions, basically a bad decision maker, so i may be more wary of them because of this.
I do like that even tho a lot of people have prejudice against their tattoos, they still would much much rather have them than to look "normal", they instantly hated it so much. There are lots of things people can judge you for, but as long as no one gets hurt then being yourself it worth it
I own a tattoo studio and even I don’t have a face tattoo or heavy neck tattoos. I have small ones on my forefingers. My reasoning is that I have no idea if the shop may one day fail (I’m not a tattoo artist myself). I don’t agree that you should discriminate, but just because it shouldn’t be happening doesn’t mean it doesn’t. People are so disconnected with reality it’s scary. I’d like to be able to still pursue other career options and such in the future.
Until something becomes the norm, expect all kind of reactions.
To be fair, in all likelyhood i would have borrowed my phone tats or not, and i wouldn't have taken the brownies from either with or without xD
Don't you mean you wouldn't lend your phone the person borrows and you'll end I hate the way people in the UK now say I borrowed my phone to somebody no you didn't you learnt your phone and the person borrowed it from you
@@jofeeneymason5691 I stand corrected :) *I'd let both borrow my phone. In defense of people in the UK, I'm from Belgium.
I find all of them so cute. I really enjoy their vibe. The girls are lovely...
I read the comments about not letting anyone borrow a phone and was confused, but then I remembered I'm from a very small town in Iowa, so I wouldn't have to worry about getting my phone taken. Lol
Have you got face tattoos? Would you ever consider one?
No
No, now stop this stupid series and go back to good content.
NO!
No
No, anyone who has them is an idiot and deserve the consequences.
