The issue with filters blocking may be due to regeneration cycle not completing. Short journeys cause this. But also block fuel filters, worn injectors etc also cause higher soot levels which clog up FAP's quicker. Each vehicle is slightly different but around 40-50 mph above 2200 rpm. So go for about 50 mph in 3rd gear (3000 rpm ish). You have to get the engine temp up to normal operating temperature first before the reg cycle starts. Most vehicles heat up the FAP by injecting fuel into it. Once the regen starts it will clear the filter without adding anything into the fuel.
One last thing, modern diesels have a fluid which it will inject into the FAP which also cleans it if the filter gets to clogged up and hasn't done a regen. This fluid is normally found in a tank or pouch close to the fuel tank. get this checked first because it could be low/Empty. Most can be topped up easily, some have to be replaced. Fluid last about 60k to 100K miles. Depends on driving style.
So don't think adding anything to the fuel will solve the problem, it may do for a while but will return with a blocked FAP. Cure the problem not the symptom.
I have a Audi A3, been a while since the light is on... do take it for long drives now and then but the light is still there... how often should we use the redex DPF cleaner ? And what gear should we use for 60mph ?
I use wynns dpf fluid in my tank and run it on the motorway for 20-25 miles at 70mph in 4th gear at 3000 revs and it works. Lights go off and limp mode disappears and full power comes back. I have a Ford Focus 06 C-Max. I still use it every 700-1000miles to prevent the lights coming on.
KerryHutchisonx was your dpf totally clogged? I’m having the problem but I’m not sure if it’s gone beyond repair 😏
It was like 80% I’m sure, but yeah it’s always the same with it and I have to do this or most often I’ll take it to my dads friends garage and have him hook it up to the machine and clear the messages which also brings back power and then use the dpf fluid. I could replace it with a new one but was advised I’ll still have issues so really at the point now where I’m possibly going to look for a new car.
KerryHutchisonx I don’t blame you I’ll be looking to buy a new car now cause these Dpf’s are a nightmare so I might go petrol now.
I’ve always had petrols this was my first diesel so will never be getting one again! Unless it isn’t fitted with a dpf as most diesels don’t actually have them.
KerryHutchisonx I thought that all diesels in Europe have them now to lower emissions.
put in 3rd gear run at 4000 +rpm till warning light goes out sorted
Your dpf is flashing so it is not blocked flashing means oil contamination from diesel or service intervil it could be it isn't regeneration cycle properly
Magic in a bottle. What you should do run it on motorway 4th gear for about 15 min or what ever your manual states. The dpf filter needs to go in to regeneration this will happen to you if you keep driving short trips. This fluid might help but who really knows.
MANNOL Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner DPF Ultra Fast 250ml
Please test 😀
Did it work?
Only stp dpf cleaner
For me it worked out. In my peuegot 206 1.6 HDi GTI, my dashboard alerted about antipolution fault. Bought it for 8£, worked the same day after about 10 miles. Today it started to burn up soot and was reving car to 3000 at 50 miles, hopefully I won't see this crap again soon.
you supposed to drive it at 4000 rpm in on motorway until light stops flashing.
bradistani a mechanic told me to drive at 60mph at 30-35 mph for 20mins should do the job
Used Wynns dpf cleaner 40min at 3k rpm in 3rd (50mph) cleared the fault. 2.0 TDI VW engine. Guess some maintenance cleaning every couple of months is going to be wise
@@Grahams-Grass mileage when the light came on was around 58k. Not had it reappear, but then again I am still using the same tank of diesel - it has been just over a week
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When I put redex Dpf cleaner in the car the engine light and glow plug light came on, car went in limp
Mode, redex 👎. Wynn’s 👍
Yo bro, did this work??? Please let me know ASAP
Did your DPF light come on, and if it come recently then you can use it and if it’s been a while with the DPF light then it might not work
You can give it a go, you will have to drive on the dual carriageway or motorway to help that work, that should do the trick
A true scientist 😀
