My gut is telling me that Jiri could be able to win. If he uses his front push kicks, unorthodox up jabs, smart use of pressure, uppercuts, elbows, and that's not even including his grappling abilities he could utilize.. Either guy is fully capable of winning. In both the main co-main events.
They are both capable to finish the fight inside the first 5 min. Its definitely an intriguing match up
Imo jiri wins. Excellent striker with a takedown threat. The grappling threat will let him do more on the feet and alex wont be able to counteract it properly out of takedown fear. As long as Jiri isnt toooo unorthodox

@@BombsAFit’s a LHW version of prime Tony Ferguson. Sure it’s not perfect technique but he is constantly coming, is very well rounded and is far tougher with a better chin than every single guy he fights. The difference is Jiri has the one punch KO power that a prime Ferguson lacked.

*I agree on both the main and co-main EXCEPT* Jiri’s forward linear pressure with long straight punches can tag Pereira too. Jiri mainly need to look out for the left hook and knee of Pereira if he’s leaning to far forward. I can see Aspinall getting dropped with a jab. If he springs forward chin first into a jab like Reyes into Spann.

Haven't seen many ppl talk about how overwhelming and chaotic Jiri can be. I could see this going like most of Jiri's fights tbh. Jiri moving around erratically, landing but also taking crazy shots, stumbling around at a few points etc. But overall just catching Alex with some weird shit and keeps coming forward until he does enough damage to find a random finish
That’s why I can’t bet on this fight. YES Jiri is hittable and can get KOed but he just throws a lot of random stuff and moves around in a weird way, that Alex will have to take his time to figure it out. I can see Jiri getting hurt and then when Alex goes to finish he runs into something. It’s going to be a wild fight. Either Alex does what we think and expect him to do and Ko him. Or he gets caught with some wild random elbow or punch.

Something will lead to Jiri and Alex hitting the floor. Jiri will get some really good ground and pound while in Alex's guard. Jiri will start advancing position, Alex will try to escape and give up a submission. Round 3 with about 2 minutes left

I think Tom vs Sergei won’t be close at all. Either Pavlovich shuts his lights out instantly in the 1st minute of the fight, or Tom just brutally styles on him, doesn’t get touched, and gets him outta there inside 2 rouds.
And I think after like 2-3 leg kicks from Alex, Jiri is gonna fucking time him and blast him with a right hand, put him out. Inside like a minute. Maybe even 30sec.

That being said Tony relied very heavily on his athleticism, when his opponent had a similar level of speed and reflexes has he did (Michael Johnson when he beat Tony and Lando Vannata gave him heaps of trouble before losing) Tony would struggle against the guy with the better technique

This is not happening with Alex since there is no takedown threat

You may be right. The gut feeling seems to be Jiri wins, even though all the clues should point to Alex winning. Jiri's cast iron chin is what makes this competitive, because the punches bounce off of him. Pierera was recently knocked out really bad by Adesanya, which may have impacted his chin.
I feel like Alex is going to make it look easy, jiri has never faced anyone with low kick ability like Alex, he leans heavy on that front leg, he's gotta use grappling early. The only thing jiri has in this fight is heart, Alex is probably going to have a steel chin at 205 too.

People point out Sergei vs Overeem when talking about his grappling but that was 5 years or so ago when he was 25 yo. Pereira, with only 2-3 years of training and at 36 years old was able to nullify Jan's takedowns and submission attempts, just a thought.
