She's easily the best actress on the show but unfortunately it's all about the younger cast now and Gail just gets storylines which make her a comedy character
Just heard Helen has decided to leave. I hope for her exit story they show her acting talents one last time.

2000-2007 Gail was the best.
Now the writers give Gail embarrassing singing scenes and pack her off to Thailand cos they’ve run out of decent stories for her. Good compilation, some confrontations with Ivy would’ve been great to see as well, plus the Carmel story and some cafe scenes with Alma.
The Carmel scenes were great but I only used the clips I had access to. I can’t stand the singing scenes the writers make Helen do. She has simply been turned into a throwaway one-line character in the past ten years.
@@corrieplattfan4847 No worries, still an enjoyable watch. I know it must be hard for the writers to devise new stories for the veterans, but yeah, some of Gail’s scenes in recent years have been a bit cringey. Is Helen leaving or just taking a break, I know she’s involved in some conservation projects.

I am devastated to hear about Helen's departure. Gail was actually one of my favourite characters and she will be sorely missed. I hope they don't kill her off though, she's was on pills for God sake. Although I didn't like some of her ways of how she treated the Platt family, she was actually a funny character. After 50 years, I can certainly say that Helen is absolutely Worth. She nailed it

OMG how wooden was Quintins acting! Helens has always been exemplary.
Quinten is very good at speaking the lines, but his facial expressions are not up to Helen’s standard of acting.

A shame she’s been reduced to nothing but a comedy character nowadays (at least she was when I gave up on modern Corrie). Somewhat similar to Deirdre’s trajectory before Anne Kirkbride died.
I've always thought Deirdre would have become another Gail if she were still alive, the writers of 2010s Corrie have been abysmal.
Corrie would be nothing without Gail Audrey and David.

They skipped a lot of stuff here. Starting with Gails final showdown with Brian before his stabbing then jumping over 10 years later to Sarah's teen pregnancy.
There was some great Gail dramatic pieces with her affair with Ian Latimer and divorce from Brian. Then the Carmel nanny from hell stuff with Martin to name a few more.
