I used to be lactose intolerant when I was a kid, but I actually grew out of it. The most effect it has on me now is bad-smelling gas if I eat too much ice cream.
I'm lactose intolerant but all it does is make me really tired if I have lactose.
I drink Lactose free milk, it's the same as regular milk but a little sweeter. Give it a try if you like Milk (Like me)

GhostRaide knight same with me, it varies to the product of course, but I am very glad I found out these kinds of pills exist. I haven't had any problems or anything after use.
GhostRaide knight you have oat milk, hemp milk, rice milk, soy milk, coconut milk. My least favourite milk alternatives are the nut milks, actually. So you have plenty of options :)

I'm the only one in my family to be lactose intolerant. Such is the odds when you're adopted... Anyway, something I've noticed over the years; check the labels and ingredients for an enzyme called Lactase. It's an enzyme specifically made to destroy lactose in dairy products, meaning you don't need 'fake' products. Just take the milk where it all starts, add some lactase enzymes, and then use the milk in butter, ice cream, cheese, or whatever else.
Rhett said he's not totally sure yet if he's lactose intolerant or allergic to dairy, and dairy proteins (casein) aren't broken down by lactase. If he does turn out to be allergic instead of intolerant, then lactase won't help at all.
Congratulations. You missed the point of my comment. This was more directed at anyone who sees it.
....okay? I'm not shooting you down or criticizing you. I assumed you were talking more directed at Rhett, considering he's the one with the dairy issues in the video. For the people who are still trying to figure out if they're intolerant/sensitive/allergic, it's safer to eat the 'fake' products than dairy with lactase. Sure, lactose intolerant people would benefit from your advice, but people with a dairy allergy (like me) would not.
Right there in the beginning, I mentioned that I'm lactose intolerant. After that, I mention products with lactase. So, where exactly did I mention that it's perfect for people who are allergic, or suspecting they might be allergic?

Sorry for not being a mind reader? There's apparently some rift between what you intended and what I read from your comment. I'm used to people hearing "dairy allergy" and immediately talking about lactase pills and gushing over how they have a roommate/sister/grandparent who's lactose intolerant and how they have lactose-free milk and I should really try it because it tastes just like milk! ...the misconception gets to me.

Dairy free products will use coconut because it mimics the thick creaminess of regular ice cream.

Having a dad who's allergic to coconut to the point he'll start having a personal itch-geddon makes one learn such things.

I became lactose intolerant in 2017 due to IBS. I have a handful of other intolerances, too. The low FODMAP diet was prescribed to me by my gastrointestinal specialist and it's totally changed my life. It's pretty restrictive but it's helped me pinpoint my various intolerances so that I can manage my symptoms.

Also, it tastes like coconut (the ice cream bars) because it's made with coconut cream. Common milk substitute.
Technically margarine isn't sold anymore because its transfat content. Today, non-dairy butters are usually called buttery spreads. But yes, it is made of plant oils.

I agree! I try to avoid dairy as much as possible because of how it makes me feel when I consume it. The vegan butter I use is better than regular butter, my favourite dairy free ice cream is absolutely the most amazing ice cream I have ever had. And I love almond milk but never understood the hype of cows milk.

I’m severely lactose intolerant and I used to just ignore it and deal with the consequences later but this year it got really bad so I’ve been dairy free since April. This is so cool to watch! There are definitely some things that you can tell the difference between, but others, like butter and coffee creamer for example, have no difference
I'm lactose intolerant and I "try" to avoid some things with dairy in them. But the thing is, I love food. So if anyone offers me ice cream to "share" with them, I will eat the whole thing and then feel like I'm being stabbed in the side and that I'm slowly dying. But it's worth it! And on Easter, it seemed like everyone, besides my G.G., forgot that I can't/shouldn't have dairy and just dumped milk chocolate on me. Luckily, I my best friend is a vegetarian, because she traded me all of her gummy candies for almost all of my milk chocolate! (for those who don't know, gummies contain gelatin, which is made from animals)

Really not trying to get into an argument, but plant agriculture has its own downsides, the way animal agriculture has its own downsides. Plants tend to be seasonal, inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides are expensive and can build up in soil, labor is a major issue, and honestly, humans are meant to eat plants and animals.
Sustainability is something we should strive for, but there are certain aspects of it that are easier to maintain on a small scale; turning anything into a commercial industry will have environmental impacts and its own set of implications.
I'm going to eat meat and dairy in every single meal until the day I die. I'd rather dip my scrotum in a vat of boiling water than become a vegan.

I’m sure there have been millions+ of cases where giving up a cancerous and acidic substance such as milk would have benefited people that were sick. My bf included- when he was diagnosed two years ago with multiple sclerosis and found Dr Swanks medical research correlating saturated fat and MS. my bf has lost vision in his right eye and feeling in his left foot/ if we wouldn’t have removed all dairy he would probably now be in a wheel chair, but instead takes no medication, cut out all substances with high sat fat (including all dairy) and lives a healthier life than before his diagnosis. I have no more for you friend. This is all I can give you. Milk is for baby cows, not humans. Take care.

Theses a difference in dairy free and lactose free. I'm lactose intolerant, not allergic to dairy, and it makes a big difference.
Uhh, lactose intolerant means your body doesn't make enough lactase , so you can't break down lactose which is found *only in dairy (milk-containing) products!* I'm lactose intolerant too, but I have studied it aswell!

Pop Tart True however you can also be allergic to milk which is something completely different. So when you ingest and milk (most commonly cows milk) it causes a histamine reaction, pretty much the same as someone who is allergic to nuts for example, and can be fatal hence why you get both dairy free or lactose free products. On the other hand people can also be Kasine intolerant. There are quite a few problems milk can cause for various individuals.
Harry Gray If you get a dairy free product, it is lactose free. Lactose is only found in dairy. That is what the original commenter did not know, which is very common to people who aren't educated in the topic.
