Excellent explanation. I searched for a video like this in my language, but couldn't find anything. Your video helped me a lot. Thank you!

I did all the steps same but getting Run-time error '1004': Application-defined or object-defined error. Any idea what could be happening?

This doesnt work for where you want to past text as the value, as SQL needs the ' ' either side of the value, but using that in excel . If anybody can tell me how I accomodate that in VBA as im a beginner :(

What if I want to let the PBI end user to input the companyCode value via any dashboard field then they can dynamically refresh the report as such. I can do that already in Excel, just wondering if I can via PBI. Please advise.

Great work around, thanks. I was so excited to see excel making it easy to connect to an sql database, and power query had something called parameters. I thought it was going to let me use the parameters in the query. Frankly, if you have to apply filters AFTER your app gets the data from SQL, it's wrong. Common Excel, you're so close!

Great video. How would I reference a date value from E3 in the query?

Solution - Add single quotes around the variable.
