I really enjoyed Laurie in the role of the beast!
When he became the de facto head of the channel, there were a few comments which said they missed him being the "dark, brooding anger in the corner". It seems like the NRB crew took that on board, and this game/set-up are proof of this. Thanks guys!

@@Wilsontrippletshe has left the company under mutual agreement. Said he is stepping away from CZcams for the foreseeable future, in the wake of new allegations against him. Ones he is basically denying, but has been told by a legal team not to speak about.
@johnj2784 So, it's confirmed that he's left the company (for now)? I knew he had temporary stepped away while handling the allegations, but I hadn't heard anything further.
Welp it was a good run time to find new group. Ill come back for the BITCT but that's it. The crew isnt the same without Adam. Same with parts funknown. Ill watch the survival series game but no need to clog my feed.anymore.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but with all these comments saying they miss Sully or that Sully is gone.... He was in the most recent House Rules episode, which was clearly shot after the other guy had taken his leave.
He also recently commented on socials that he's back from Fringe now and is looking forward to doing more NRB content.

2 corrections
1.The game isnt over in 3 nights, its 4. Thats why there are 3 nights of reawards and one more of game over
2. You can pass if no one has more ACTION cards. Not any card
Just a few errors for those who maybe interested in this game. If Laurie plays a summons action he can only summon a new summon or perform a summons action. Also any card can be used to move 1 step, but it's the only action you can take.
Right it looks like Laurie cheated there at least once when he summoned and attacked?
@@AlexSchokking well not so much cheating and more making a rules mistake - cheating would require an intent to subvert the rules... which i dont think is fair to ascribe to laurie
errors like that will happen with a new game one plays
@@SharienGaming yup totally fair, I agree there was no intent there and the rule book for this game is notoriously hard to read. I would restate as a rules mistake that dramatically favored him in a way that was difficult for the hunters to overcome.
@@AlexSchokkingThey did also make a big tactical mistake starting the night right next to him to give themselves no turns to react to being attacked next day
@@AlexSchokking yeah that mistake likely started spiralling pretty badly - it may seem pretty minor to only either summon or act, but it would likely mean that he would not have had as many boars around (or they would not have done as much damage)
This game is honestly good based on what you shown. I loved the interactions around table and Laurie nailed it :D Would love to see more of this, maybe with different beast next time :D

I loved watching it and seeing Laurie go into beast mode. I have missed the more complex games, where I can follow the action. With the card games like "Lovecraft Letter" or "Smash Up" it is hard to follow, as there is no player perspective. Really hope there are some more games like this coming in the future.

Not that there aren’t enough actual play D&D shows on CZcams, but I would love to see some classic D&D content from the crew.
I really enjoyed their wrestling rpg I wish they would do another season
I think they should play ANY OSR/D&D style rpg that ISNT D&D. Heck even a pathfinder one-shot. But I feel like the crew could really grasp an OSR style sword & sorcery game with a hint of gonzo and comedy. Something like 5e Hardcore (if the players know 5e rules already), maybe Knave or Deathbringer even. Something that the DM can make a campy, gritty, gonzo style campaign without getting too number crunchy or using grid combat...
==THe staples of a great TTRPG let's play I've found are==
>Theater of mind game play in most situations.
>Combats on 'zone' maps, not grids. These can be depicted with dungeon craft terrain, but grids are expunged for 'zones' and more theater of mind range/spell area calculations.
>Making sure every player at the table is very well versed in the basic rules of the game and their PC, OR using a system with simple rules and letting DM have full-fiat.
>Low to Mid level (Lvl 3 to 10 in D&D terms)
>A story that is enticing with a strong sense of duty/adventure, and sprinkle some funny/weird NPCs.
>Player Characters must be unique and have at least 1 of the following (or any other intrigue); quirky personality, a sworn enemy that tries to destroy them, a debt they can never repay, a person/thing they can't love, or a place they can not go, a thing they must protect with their life to save something important/the world.

Laurie's character intro had some serious Animal Farm energy and it was terrifying.
Geez, that ended up being a bloodbath. I'm curious how this compares to Fury of Dracula, as it seems very similar. Fun play through, wish it was a bit longer! I saw the time after the first round and went "oh dear".

I mostly miss Sullivan. He was always great in the episodes. But I agree, Laurie is doing great considering everything.

*Spoilers* for those that haven't finished the game yet
I think the upgrade that allowed all of the Hunters and Settlers to move 1 space in the night, and the choice for all of the Hunters to get onto Laurie's square, is actually what did them in instead of helping them. Especially after the upgraded damage that Laurie got. Him being able to immediately kill one of them because they were in his square at the start of the 2nd round started the chain reaction that caused them to lose
It's so great they had Blair announce everyone, it really sets a nice tune to everything she's very cheerful
I assume that "oh, oh, John Connor" is a reference to Josh Ruben on Dropout's Make Some Noise?

So. This is kinda like Fury of Dracula? I like it.
I kind of miss the changing dynamic. I enjoy seeing Holly, Blair, Luke, and Laurie, but I do miss the rotating cast and song games played with more than 4 people. I think the best games to watch are the ones with a larger cast of characters. I know things are a bit chaotic behind the scenes, but I do hope to see some of the others in future episodes.

This looks absolutely amazing! Super tempted to back the expansion on Gamefound now. My heart says yes, but my wallet is sweating a bit XD. This game looks right up my alley, aesthetics and all. Just need people to play with, but hopefully with me going to a four-year college soon I'll be able to accomplish that. Also, I love all the pig puns this episode. All around 10/10 episode of Boar-d Game Club!

Alright, I didn't want to write all the rule mistakes and oversights but as I've seen all those hunters dying I feel obligated to do so.
Edit: this comment was too long so I've deleted my comments about minor mistakes...
Firstly, whenever there's a summon action, you can either summon a new summon or use the summons that you have on board. So in the contract phase it wouldn't be possible for hogbad to summon a summon and then use all of the other summons. Which is connected to other things that happened later that day such as Adapt which allowed him to move 3 steps (one step for every summon...)
Secondly, if Hunter dies it does not lose all of its upgrades (I'm pretty sure about this), so it's not exactly like a DnD.
And lastly, Helga's upgrade allows Hunters to play a track as a reaction to the Beast attacking. Which means that tge beast would say that it attacks then the reactions can be activated and in this phase the Hunters could have played track to basically avoid the Beast's attack! So no dead Hunters day two... This is the true power of Helga.
PS I'm also not completely sure if whenever Beast went over a settler there was a track placed on that location. Or at least the Hunters didn't seem aware of this rule, because they considered whether Hogbad could be on a location with a settler even though there clearly would have been a trail in that case.
Edit: confirmed. Beast never put trails when it arrived at location with a settler...

there are two game that I now want you guys to play, the first is fury of dracula because its hidden movement and someone can play as flipping dracula, how cool is that! the other is flashpoint which is a cooperative board game about firefighters trying to stop a house fire and save the people and dogs inside, specifically the dogs for people like blair or holly.
Meanwhile, in my personal headcanon: Hogbad is just teenage Babe
Also ironic that I watched the movie Pig Hunt yesterday and then got this in my recommended 👍
If I played this game, especially with people who speak English, my Swedish would sneak out so often 😂 (some of the words are perfect to say in Swedish, so it would just happen automatically)

I'd love to see them replay Nemesis or House on the Hill. Those were always my favorite episodes but they feel a bit weird to watch given that the players are talking to some invisible person half the time. Would be nice to get some updates!

Nice video,just for info 24:36 you can always choose to draw an item, beastly talent from the reserve so the beast/ hunters dont know what you got. But it is more random ofcourse.

God dangit! I literally had a dream where I got an idea for a new board game of a hiden movement game where hunters were tracking a big cat and I was gonna call it jungle! I literally dreamnt of this game before I knew it existed and now im mad someone though of it before me! 😓
