FYI: you can show PS3 in emulation station just by putting ".ps3" after the game folder, IE: Asura's Wrath (USA).ps3 to show up in emulation station and then change the game directory inside emulation station menu by pressing start button.

i just finished tales of xillia in 25+ hours on SD with pcsx3 and it worked almost flawless, i was very surprised, but yeah i can imagine the slowdowns with more demanding games, still i was pleasantly surprised by the performance

The emulation station is just like a non-Steam library that stores all your games in one place so all your DLC, updates, mods & m3u files, and game saves will work seamlessly with the emulation station. You just go to the emulation station and launch your game instead of the non-Steam library. there is no risk with your game saves.

Or you could just use the Collections tab... I never understand why people say that their games list is crowded when there is an organized list just one tab over. Emulation Station just becomes a front end for your front end.
you are right the collection tab is great. but if you have more than 200 games under non-steam library it will slow down the system interface. There is another great benefit with emulation station is that you can completely get rid of parser processing inside EmuDeck. every game rom you added into rom folder will instantly show up in Emulation station without go to Emudeck click parsers.
Literally the first person to actually reply with a valid use case. I have *well* over 200 non-steam games, and the slight lag that people always talk about is really only for the second or 2 that you first enter the tab. However, I didn't think about the fact that you don't have to re-parse every time you add a game and that Emulation Station would do it automatically. That is actually useful. If you're not adding games regularly though, then it may not be all that useful. Good tip though.

Just a little idea for some of yall, if you wanna have emulation purely on an SD card and wanna keep everything neat, install batocera on a micro SD, and change the boot in bios from internal ssd to SD card, you can simply copy and paste all your roms into batocera either using another computer to send files over the network, or you can use an external drive.
A bit of background, I have over 500 games and, yeah, the lag is unbearable now with all the artwork and the DMCA strike on SteamGridDB (I deleted the grid folder and my backup thinking Nintendo ninjas wouldn't strike but I still miss the art) just accelerated me paying this more attention. For Switch (Yuzu) I have mods, DLC and updates added. Will they move across seamlessly? Do custom control configs stay untouched when migrating from individually added non-Steam games to EmulationStation and also whilst playing? For example, I spent time making a nice profile for Super Mario Galaxy (Wii). Also what about PSX multi-track games which I've created .cue files for. Will they easily be picked up by EmulationStation? Sorry for so many questions ED4T! :)

Afaik one drawback is that you cannot have per game steam input profiles. For that reason I still keep my roms folder clean and add individual games to Steam library. I see no point having roms folder filled with stuff I am not going to touch or play anyhow...
Thanks for the guide, my emulation station works and was able to have the shortcut for ps3 working! I have a problem with wiiu games via emulation station, every time I press 'B', it exits the game automatically and this only occurs on wiiu games (as if I pressed start + exit), is there a fix to this? This only occurs on wiiu games via emulation station, on Emu deck, this doesn't happen. EDIT: this doesn't happen on zelda botw, but seems to occur on new super Mario bros + super luigu, batman armored edition and they all run on the proton cemu, not native any ideas as to how I could fix that?

It is just because the fps on zelda botw is much better when using native (even when I have FPS++ enabled on the proton version). Lastly, is there a shortcut for exiting games on wiiu and ps3? Hello 1 need help l…….i have multiple SD cards with games. Sometimes when changing the SD card Emulation station won’t be able to find the location of the other Ss card. It will ask for the location but when I put the location it still does not register please help
have you try to reset emulation station's configuration inside emudeck -manage emulator after you insert a new sd card. I think the system maybe just buggy after your swap a new card. it stunk with the information from the previous card.
@@ED4T I found out in order for you to change cards in emudeck you have to go to the part that add all the folders so that precess to the card and it will work……only problem I’m having now is 1 of my 1TB Sd cards bricked some how it won’t even format
The Wii U isn't listed for me. Neither on steam nor in the emulation station. I always have to open the games via cemu. Is it the same way as for ps3 to display the wii u in the Emulation station?
have you tried to reset your Emu-deck & emulation station? Wii U should be detected automatically. maybe your game roms are not in correct folder as emudeck preferred.
the video only works for certain themes. make sure you select the theme with background video feature. also, you have to wait for 3 sec for video to pop up

haha thats a great idea but saddly right now we have to manual move roms into each folder. maybe EmuDeck should make an additional program to sort roms.

agree with you. one drawback is you cant use steam input any more with emulation station.
ED4T were you able to get Fable 2 to run without all the graphical issues. Mine shows up with transparent ground.
