- Whether due to sneaky mechanics, lack of balance, or downright excessive difficulty purposefully programmed by sadistic developers, there are some video games bosses that would likely cause the average gamer to calmly put the controller down and walk away. We're looking at some of these today; ten video game boss fights that caused so much consternation you probably gave up and did something else, just to cool off. Toughest boss from my childhood is the Carnival Night Zone Barrel from Sonic 3. Put many, many, hours into that game and never made it past there.
I beat Tyson once and never touched the game again after that.
He's hard but once u see his eye gleam then he gets easier
I was that way with God of War III.
I pretty much breezed through the entire game until I got to Zeus.
I beat him, but my god, the difficulty in that boss made me not want to go back and try again, and that sucks because God of War III is an excellent game!
The video mentions Mighty the Armadillo, but I saw Ray the Flying Squirrel instead. Rushed deadline or someone putting up the wrong footage? You decide!
Im just glad to live in a world where Mighty and Ray are mentioned at all
Footage not matching the script.
The disrespect to Mighty tho
Shao Kahn, Galactus and Rugal are a cakewalk compared to General from Kaiser Knuckle.
Teleports, indestructible and large projectiles, grabs and impeccable AI that took 15 years to beat.
A boss so broken, even Taito had to apologize.
& here are 10 more tough-as-nails bosses that most players didn't beat:
Akuma (or Gōki if you want to get Japanese about this) - Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Azazel - Tekken 6
C.M. Burns & Waylon Smithers (*WILD*CARD*ENTRY*EXCELLENT*) - The Simpsons Wrestling
Calita Martinez - Driv3r
Lu Bu - Dynasty Warriors series
Moloch - Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance
Redeemer - Todd McFarlane's Spawn: The Video Game
Sephiroth - Kingdom Hearts
Shredder - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game
Valkyrie Queen Sigrun - God of War
Mortal Kombat seems to be the current trend on CZcams. I listened to Orbital-Halcyon and On from the 1995 film last month and theres been a few related videos since. Nice to see MK2 get a mention.
Props for having Huroku on the list. Still to this day beating him is my greatest video game achievement.
My local arcade back in the day was lucky enough to have a 1.0 revision of MK II, when Shao Khan was even harder to defeat. And that revision didn't even have the endings! Or quite a few of the fatalities.
Yeah you got me with Shao Khan. Spent a long time losing to him and starting over.
I feel like MK3 vanilla Shao Khan was WAY harder than any other version, especially given to roster options to fight him.
Little Mack is the original Logan Paul except Mack had a fighting chance.
DoA4's Alpha-152. So frustrating you have to beat her multiple times to unlock Nicole, but I wasn't quitting with the promise of a SPARTAN-II fighting game right there!
Resident Evil: Code Veronica (Dreamcast) - I _knew_ I was near the end of the game, _I could feel it..._ And with it having a whole partner-swapping gimmick, I pre-empted it by putting all my good shit into the box, only to have a save file on the last boss with no weapons. I kept coming back to it for a few attempts with no weapons thinking it might have some sort of system in place, like if the countdown hit zero they'd throw me a rocket launcher into the arena or something.
Ghosts and Goblins/(Super) Ghouls and Ghosts (any systems) - I played them tons when I was a kid... dunno why, never got anywhere. The "Boss" was pretty much the 3rd area lol.
WWE 2K21 (PC) - The last boss of that game is _literally anyone_ that grabbed a hold of me in a Royal Rumble. I played through the campaign and mucked about with other modes, but try as I might through numerous attempts could not figure out the button prompts ONCE to escape being thrown out. Whatever it said it was... was not it, and not a single guide anywhere. They'd just casually pick me up and gently place me over the ropes with zero resistance.
I still need to beat Lavos.
Same here. :(
Eyedol from the original Killer Instinct was a pain in the butt.
He can regenerate his health and will do so every chance he gets.
The only way to beat him is to lock him unto a massive combo. The problem with that is, that he can break every combo in the game.
The SNES version nerfed him to be easier, but the Arcade & Xbox One version of him still gives me nightmares.
😵💫
I didn’t really play Killer Instinct in the arcade. Now Killer Instinct 2 I did. I could beat the whole game with 2 quarters. No continues needed. Only with Orchid. Not sure if how easy the Gargos was compared to Eyedol.
@@offtopic4279 Gargos was a joke compared to Eyedol.
If you have the chance to play the Xbox version of KI, give it a go. It is a port of the arcade game and it is hard as ...
Even on easy mode, you will start to hate the bossfight. Took me over 30 tries to finally beat Eyedol. And i am really good in this game.
@@atariduckman good to know. I am still pretty proud of my teenage self. I did go back and play the Xbox not long ago, I’m awful. I’m sure part of that is due to being old and out of practice.
I simply cannot get past the flaming bull in Sekiro. You can't break it, only whittle down its health. I just can't seem to stay out of the way. Dozens of tries, and I've gotten it below half health one time. I'll fling myself at it three or four times before I have to take a break and play something else.
Oh god i remember that fight in last remnant and how my young jrpg mindset thought grinding would help me get past it.......
The thing about shao khan is that you have to pick a character that you know their combos....so well you can execute them perfectly every time
I managed to stumble my way through 99% of Lies of P but that final boss is the first one i've had to completely give up on 😂
MK2 Shao Kahn in the arcade was infuriating
Well, I've actually beaten Galactus a few months ago, as I had never played MC3 before ^^
Not sure where the line of "childhood begins/ends" but the only boss I never actually beat out of sheer frustration was Goenitz in King of Fighters '96. Turns out he's legendarily cheap, so that made me feel slightly better.
Testament and Justice in the original Guilty Gear are a close second, having an incredibly cheap midboss followed by an EVEN CHEAPER final boss was a real one-two punch, but them I actually managed to beat.
Every single time I see MTPO on a list I automatically rewatch Summoning Salt's video on the people that best it blindfolded
The boss from BioFREAKS took up half the screen and every hit took off a paltry amount of health. I never defeated them.
are you kidding ? with Game Genie and Game shark by my side the bosses i went up against didnt stand a chance ! without them though Shao Khan still gives nightmares
The Octopus in DKR was way harder than the Triceratops
you don't know hard until you have faced Yami in the japanese version of tatsunoko vs capcom oh and all the bosses in God Hand.
If you spend 3 hours screaming fuck you at a boss character because he killed your character 4 or more times it feels nice finding a simple trick to beat it
The only boss that has made me just give up in utter defeat after so so so so many attempts, is the Flower from Drakengard 3. I respect that flower, it's complete bullshit and it crushed me.
Honestly the one boss I just can't beat is the traitor lord in HK. It is beyond my 39yr old reflexes.
Getting old sucks. Elden Ring is putting me through the paces and I don't think I have it in me which is unfortunate because it's such an awesome game. Welp... the hands and brain aren't working like they used to. Such is life.
@@furiousapplesack I feel you, honestly I dunno how I used to have reflexes lol
Honestly I had to take a break from your channel cus stuff got a lil too generic/ seems really commercialized. But adding the live gameplay is definitely helping avoid that vibe.
I thought Mighty was a squirrel 🤔
Most bullet hell bosses. Those will kill you time and time again and you keep on coming back for more punishment.
Another is Parace L'Sia from Arcana Heart 3. When it comes to cheap fighting game bosses, she is in a league of her own.
Then there is the Demi Fiend from Digital Devil Saga, one of the hardest JRPG bosses ever.
The boss that I had the most trouble with was the seized construct from tears of the kingdom, I beat the other bosses on my 1st try but with this I died multiple times
Made it to Tyson, didnt win......made it to 2 Fury in super punch out. Maybe now i should run it back
I've beaten Zoran Lazarevic twice.
Despite claims to the contrary, Mario Kart 64 doesn't actually let you do every race in a cup no matter how badly you place. At least one of the human players has to finish in the top four, otherwise you get to do Bower's bastard Castle again, and again, until you get lucky enough that one of you can act as the rear gunner whose presence alone prevents the Schrodingeresque AI characters from running at triple speed because no-one's watching them.
How dare Lu Bu not be on here
Elden ring's Malenia goddess of Rot is my #1 for this list. Gave up after a ton of tries. I'll try again right before the DLC releases. Or maybe after the DLC and leveling up more.
I finally beat Radahn after many, many tries and now am getting my butt handed to me by side bosses, lol. Yeah... I don't think I have it in me. Great game, though.
@furiousapplesack it feels really good once you finally beat that difficult boss, tho! I've been chasing that "high" since the first dark souls on ps3.
Congrats. I struggled with Radhan my first playthough also. So don't feel too discouraged. You can always go in a different direction and level up more.
I'd suggest trying to get [gud] better at dodge rolling, and maybe lower your equip load for more i-frames. Watch the enemies and try to learn when to dodge, basically. Best of luck! I believe in you lol
@@ajax4165 Yeah, when I finally beat Radahn (with so little health I thought I was dead at first), it was like this full body release. Literally a high. I appreciate the encouragement, thanks! I'll keep at it.
Nemesis- Returnal
I still didn’t beat the cuphead dlc or king dice and the devil in cuphead.
No Shin Akuma?
"Let's look at some" love the catchphrase
You've beaten off the competition?
I knew this list was hopeless if Shao Khan is #10 lol
Anybody saying "I BEAT THAT BOSS EASY" and thinks no one else should complain does not understand the point of a truly challenging video game boss.
They aren't meant to be unbeatable, guys, they're just meant to be difficult and the true challenge is finding out HOW to beat the boss, not actually beating it.
So when you point out the tactic used to easily beat it, just know it was probably that way by design, you didn't discover some unheard of tactic, you aren't smart, and you aren't better at video games, you're just being a dick.
I beat those bosses easy.
🎉
