He'd be more efficient in today's NBA. His 41-42% FG shooting was in the NBA where there was actual defense, if he played in today's NBA where the offensive players can run around the court and shoot with the knowledge that no one can touch them, then yeah he'd have a better FG%.
The efficiency argument is so stupid, in the modern NBA nobody plays defence like they did in the 80', 90' and 00's. Off course players are going to less efficient when they hard proper defenders on them
@@John6-40lol, look up. I think you missed the point. It's context, the overall FG% would obviously be lower when facing physical defense. Playing in today's NBA those players from the old days would all shoot better because the shooters have a force field around them that the defenders cannot enter. You young idiots don't understand how the game has changed, from rules and officiating. A lot of offensive calls from the 80s and 90s are actually called as defensive fouls now.... they have turned the game upside down, it is so different. So you can't just look at the numbers and assume they'd shoot the same in today's NBA, it's moronic.
Harden shot around 45% for his prime in Houston, but he wasn’t inefficient at all during the regular seasons. Now playoffs, harden would fall of in general compared to other stars lmao. Ai was the offense for his team but didn’t even have as much open floor like Harden did. I think sometimes people get too revolved around stats and shooting percentages.

Prime Kobe was a Great on Ball Defender & Iverson would wear Kobe out like he was a side piece
It was different play styles, systems, and ways they were served the ball to score. I think it actually favors Iverson because he played in a much more pact paint and as a smaller player. They try to say Iverson is inefficient though with shooting 40-45% but harden was shooting around 45% also through his Houston prime and no way was he inefficient for his team.
We need to have a conversation about defensive expectations of smaller guards. I find the same argument made against Curry just as disingenuous. People are effectively putting the same expectations they have for a 6"6 200 pound wing onto a 6"2 170 pound guard. AI got steals, stayed with his man and challenged jumpers. I dont know what else people can possibly honestly expect from him.
Defense has nothing to do with size, and everything to do with heart. Drummond is 6'11, 275lb with a 38" vertical and can't block s***. Yet, Jordan and Vince Carter both said the best defender they ever faced was little 6'3 Joe Dumars. Iverson was a warrior on both ends too.
What are you saying though- that because of their size the fact that teams hunt them in the playoffs to ISO them to take advantage of their size, negates any criticism of their defense? More so talking Curry. His teams were defensive juggernauts that surrounded him. He still to this day gets subbed out in crucial defensive possessions at end of games. How can you be considered one of the best players of all time and only contribute to one side of the ball? I am asking respectfully and look forward to your response
Iverson had 12 steals in a playoff game against the magic, he's not as much as a liability as players today and he would cause a greater problem for the person guarding him..
Same thing I said. Windy the Hutt ows his whole career to LeBroom Queen Lames. Windy emerged after LeBroom emerged and will tell anybody that's how he got to wear he's at.

Windy the Hutt gets on my nerves a lot and you got to keep in mind Windy owes his whole career to LeBroom he emerged when when the Queen emerged basically so I don't trust nothing Jabba the Hutt/Windy the Hutt says.
No. They aren't trying to give realistic takes. They're paid to slobber all over LeBron and the current generation. That's what sells. Zoomers want to hear they're the best. They hate history. Hate their parents. Etc. They love themselves and their generation. That's all.
I've been a Boston fan my whole life. Which means: I HATED AI. He always killed us. Iverson would totally dominate today. No one plays defense anyway, so he'd fit right in.... and take full advantage of the bad defense.
So, let’s make this clear, AI was a volume shooter due to the make up of the team roster. But, there are volume shooters in the current NBA and that is with more spacing created by more outside shooting. So, wouldn’t AI benefit from the extra spacing where now teams can’t send doubles as much? And we already know that there isn’t any hand checking allowed so he would benefit there. Less physicality means he wouldn’t be beat up as much so that’s a plus. If he the current NBA won’t allow him to play heavy minutes + the other items mentioned previously, AI is still going to be dominant and a little better.
Allen Iverson was a great defender I don't know why people are knocking his defense? He could play the passing Lanes and get you some steals on defense also he was very good about getting the ball in transition after turning you over...
Iverson couldn't be guarded with hand checking and a congested paint but people are saying he couldn't dominate with the crap defense played today, a wide open paint and you can't put hands on him... insane
Anyone who thinks Allen Iverson couldn't play in this era is to be ignored. I don't see a defense that could shut him down. Love that shot of him crossing up one of the quickest defenders ever , Michael Jordan.
It amazes me as to how these so call "analysts" who think they know ball i dont get how they assume that the past superstar wont hang with todays game last i checked i dont see all defensive players on every team. You put the past scorers in todays game where defense is none existant they would go off today
That's because the NBA is mad that Luka said their defense is crap compared to overseas and he's not lying the NBA plays defense about as well as LuKa plays defense.
with the amount of spacing in todays game, he'd have soooooooo many driving lanes, he'd be unstoppable. Funny he brings up defense. I mean look at Luka, a terrible defender praised as an MVP candidate because he's all offense. Jokic, same thing, although a slight better defender, still below average, and again, MVP candidate. There are plenty of players succeeding while playing little to no defense. I mean analysts are excusing players like Luka and LeBron saying, "oh, they're preserving their energy so they can play offense". That's the kind of stupid ass era we're watching. Where people are excusing bad defense for the sake of scoring. This is what brain rot looks like.
In today no defence nba Iverson would kill it, espn is worse thing to happen to basketball, They kill the history of game to try and promote the now watered-down plastic carp, They are trying to sell.

I'm glad you made this video. I've recently been rewatching a lot of the Sixers' 2001 playoff run, and Iverson was straight up sacrificing his body every time he went to the hole. In this less physical era, he'd definitely dominate. I'm not sure why we're debating this.
Iverson's playing Prime was cut short by several years b/c of the beating he took attacking the rim as guys a foot taller & 100 lbs heavier would body slam him 1/2 dozen times per gm & he'd keep attacking b/c he was a str8 alpha dog...... Windhorst isn't qualified to evaluate an LA Fitness pick up game
Just the fact that they don't call carries (or traveling for that matter) anymore, AI would be unstoppable, it'd be broken ankles all over the court.😂😂
Volume scoring is out in today's league....bro what? Guys are constantly dropping 30+ bombs like it's no big deal lmao. The Iverson take was bad enough but this one is even worse. It's like he has never watched a game this season.
Everyone shot around 42% back then. Or less than 45%. Kobe. T-Mac. Vince. Wizards Jordan. Even young LeBron was below 48% back then. The league was slow paced. Hand checking was around for a few years. Zone was legalized yet there was no 3 second rule, so you had true zone defense. The league was still physical. Teams averaged around 93 ppg for a reason. That era led to the commissioner being obsessed with offense. This is all about LeBron and Klutch Sports media (especially Windhorst) downing any era that isn't LeBron's era. Even though it kinda was. Just look at LeBron. He's better at 40 than he was at 22.
exactly....... in one of the lowest scoring, most physical era's in NBA history Iverson's career playoff scoring avg is #2 all time behind only Jordan...... Iverson would avg 40 pts / gm on 30 min a night & shoot 50% fg% into today's no Def NBA
Why is there such a strong agenda to destroy what came before this generation? I lived through the nba of the 90s the 2000s, the 2010's and now the 2020s. The 90s were simply better.
Because current NBA is living a strong appeal crisis and the vast majority of old school guys like us somehow still follow but certainly not same way as they would desire. Many indeed left the chat. Brian Windhorst regurgitating those Iverson stats as if AI wouldn’t be able to adjust and adapt to this era. Iverson played in the most defensively intensive era in the history of the NBA. Uncut, I've been subscribed to you for a long time... and there are lots of good basketball CZcams channels out there, but may I just say... even after all these years... you are still the best. (imo)
AI ranks 15th in all time steals. He also averaged 2.2 per game for his career. Scottie Pippen averaged 2.0...LeBron averages 1.5. Don't ask about the non defensive playing guards in this era. So you definitely wouldn't need to hide AI. Nobody has a post game anymore. All this spacing crap killed that. I don't think there is a guard faster than him today. As far as scoring? He averaged almost 27 per with bigs dominating the paint. Windbag should just be quiet. Kendrick must have forgotten about bashing MJ'S era because AI played in some of it.
AI is a FREAK ATHLETE. John Madden said of ALL THE ATHLETES HE HAS EVER SEEN in high school, the three best were: Bo Jackson, John Elway, and Allen Iverson...and of the three Iverson was the best athlete of the three of them. Iverson was, and still is today, the BEST QB IN VIRGINIA HIGHSCHOOL HISTORY (better than Vick, better than Brooks better than everybody). Iverson also, till this day, has the NATIONAL RECORD FOR MOST INTERCEPTIONS IN A HIGHSCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME with 9 I believe (it might be 7 or 8, but it's an insane number, you can look it up). Iverson was the best athlete John Madden ever saw in high school. Let that sink in. Same guy who crossed up MJ. Same guy who Kobe said, if he was taller, would be the best player ever. Same guy who was the ONLY PLAYER TO BEAT SHAQ AND KOBE IN 2001 when they went on, statistically, THE GREATEST playoff run in NBA history when you adjust for strength of opposition going 16-1 the whole way with IVERSON being the only hoops genius to single-handedly beat them in game 1 IN LA. Kobe binge watched scores of Iverson footage that very night and his defense was key to LA's Gentleman sweep. Thats how GREAT Iverson was (and is), Kobe, one of the 10 best defenders of all time, spent all night studying Iverson's HIGHSCHOOL tape, to find any weaknesses. The Iverson hate is Klutch Sports propaganda to distract from LeBalco's PED allegations. Lebron is a PED fraud and, imo, not top 10. Nowhere near Kobe. Nowhere near MJ. Iverson is a BETTER PURE ATHLETE than Kyrie and honestly never/rarely ran FULL SPEED when he was in the NBA. Future HOF coach Greg Popovich said the two fastest players he has ever seen were: prime MJ and prime Iverson. He knows a thing or two about hoops. Iverson would average 40 in today's game.
That clown windhorst started bringing up shooting percentages. His shooting percentage was lower because they were actually playing defense then. His shooting percentage would go up now because of the less defense being played

He only has a career because he rides Bron as hard as he can. He has no objectivity or insight. He just knows if he rubs honey on Bron he gets money
@d.columbia9603 yes sir he is an actual dancing clown lol
He's right! Iverson wouldn't be as good, he would be better in today's trash league!
Off course players are going to less efficient when they hard proper defenders on them
Everyone had a low FG% back then. Look up any star from that era.
Big Perk being the voice of reason is absolutely amazin’!!
Perk was spot on
Scoring on Gilbert at the end 🤣🤣🤣 chefs kiss
And Gilbert's face 😂😂
40% efficiency ............. while double and triple teamed constantly. Those numbers are fucking amazing.
in the history of the NBA only Michael Jordan has a higher career playoff scoring avg than Iverson.... one of the greatest scores in NBA history & one of the greatest pure athletes America has ever produced..... just a complete freak of nature...... Prime Kobe was a Great on Ball Defender & Iverson would wear Kobe out like he was a side piece
If AI got foul calls like LBJ, he'd get 30 a night just in free throws.
He might go for 50 twice a week.

That’s the biggest lie ever. But okay get you facts from Gilbert
How when the season Harden averaged 36 a game was off and average of 448 dribbles a game?
It was different play styles, systems, and ways they were served the ball to score. I think it actually favors Iverson because he played in a much more pact paint and as a smaller player.
They try to say Iverson is inefficient though with shooting 40-45% but harden was shooting around 45% also through his Houston prime and no way was he inefficient for his team.
@@Spider-Nalgas plus the 2000s was probably the most difficult era to score in. With the space today AI would be even more crazy no doubt
Shocker another lebron lover AI would kill in any era

If you think Steph Curry going down the lane and scoring constantly can happen but not AI in nowadays NBA you don't know basketball. Windy the Hutt gets on my nerves a lot and you got to keep in mind Windy owes his whole career to LeBroom he emerged when when the Queen emerged basically so I don't trust nothing Jabba the Hutt/Windy the Hutt says.
His arguments are laughable. Do half of these "analysts" even do research or look into the past eras?
No. They aren't trying to give realistic takes. They're paid to slobber all over LeBron and the current generation.
That's what sells.
Zoomers want to hear they're the best. They hate history. Hate their parents. Etc.
They love themselves and their generation. That's all.
Windhorst is full of wasted wind. AI is HOF because of his skills and bb IQ. MJ once said, he just grateful Allen wasnt 6 foot 6!
AI with THAT crossover AND a legal step-back jumper AND a near total lack of defense...Come on now...
If he the current NBA won’t allow him to play heavy minutes + the other items mentioned previously, AI is still going to be dominant and a little better.
ai would be a smaller version of lebron giannis
Allen Iverson was a great defender I don't know why people are knocking his defense? He could play the passing Lanes and get you some steals on defense also he was very good about getting the ball in transition after turning you over...
Iverson couldn't be guarded with hand checking and a congested paint but people are saying he couldn't dominate with the crap defense played today, a wide open paint and you can't put hands on him... insane
allow him to carry, travel and step back too...
Anyone who thinks Allen Iverson couldn't play in this era is to be ignored. I don't see a defense that could shut him down.
Love that shot of him crossing up one of the quickest defenders ever , Michael Jordan.
Only thing Brian knows about competition is filling his fat belly
AI's effieciency would be above .500 this era wtf lmao
most of ai's makes would be layups AI was a low percentage jumpshooter and free throw shooter
It amazes me as to how these so call "analysts" who think they know ball i dont get how they assume that the past superstar wont hang with todays game last i checked i dont see all defensive players on every team. You put the past scorers in todays game where defense is none existant they would go off today
Luka would be on 43 but the refs are killing him
That's because the NBA is mad that Luka said their defense is crap compared to overseas and he's not lying the NBA plays defense about as well as LuKa plays defense.
That's because the league today resembles the European league
@levithelegend Luka isn't averaging anywhere near to 43 in Europe, where they actually play defense. Dude, I haven't even averaging 30 in Europe.
with the amount of spacing in todays game, he'd have soooooooo many driving lanes, he'd be unstoppable.
WELL SAID. It's borderline dystopic. Huxley is laughing in his grave. The stupidity of the Bronsexual Era is maddening. IQ levels have dropped.

Windhorst: "They wouldn't let AI play 40 minutes a game."
Jalen Brunson: "Do I even exist to you?"
I refuse to listen to talking heads like Windhorst. He obviously never played.
6 feet 165 call ISO anytime you want, he'll split your team.
Well, if you can create your own shot, then I'm pretty sure you could kill in today's nba.
You can't tell me when this era ignores 50% of the sport (Defense) that the apex offensive players of older eras wouldn't get away with murder.
I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when you called Windhorst Jabba the Hutt. My workstation would've been soaked. LMAO!
The look on Perkins face is priceless 😂
“He is correct. Despite being…kinda dumb. “ 😂
They would hate to defend that never ending physical attacks through AI. His FG% would be much higher, Finishing more and much easier at the rim
exactly....... in one of the lowest scoring, most physical era's in NBA history Iverson's career playoff scoring avg is #2 all time behind only Jordan......
Bc they can’t top them
Because current NBA is living a strong appeal crisis and the vast majority of old school guys like us somehow still follow but certainly not same way as they would desire. Many indeed left the chat.

Is this the up and coming "we DONE with the 00s" lmaooo the top tier delusion
Truth be told this conversation isn't worth having. And why?
This new era doesn't deserve AI.
PERIOD.
If you can score in a heavy-defense NBA. You can definitely score MORE in todays league.
why does anyone listen to anyone that works for espn?
That clown windhorst started bringing up shooting percentages. His shooting percentage was lower because they were actually playing defense then. His shooting percentage would go up now because of the less defense being played
