The Kestrel 5000 series, released November 2015, features classic Kestrel precision and made-in-America reliability with the new ability to link to Apple iPhones, and an updated design.
Hi, I'm looking at the new 5100 meter over here in the UK as an upgrade to the 4250 I have presently. The items that you say are included seem to be available here but are not included and come at VERY considerable extra costs. The vane mount and case are listed at £66.00, LiNK wireless dongle at £38.40, USB data transfer interface £69.60. That's around another £174 on top of the meter! That's around another $242 and pushes the meter into being pretty unaffordable, for me at least.
First thing i can say you needed a boom mic.. and the wind vane is poorly designed.. the tail should have been in front to get just the wind instead of getting the wake from the unit itself which causes to yaw left and right alot more.. or they needed to extend the front portion of the vane with a spigot or make it like the professional ones that is designed like a plane fuselage but we are not talking life and death here so approximate or somewhat close is good enough .
Kestrel is the absolute best. Very grateful for your guys' products.
