Such a lovely person! I saw her onstage in some of her great roles, and I can guarantee that I never before or since heard such a beautiful sound. Lovely to learn that she’s a granny!

I was THRILLED to learn that Dame Kiri still sings in the car. When she said "I'll never sing again, not even for myself" I felt so sad...because most of the singing one does is never for others....its for your own happiness. As far as her inspiring teachers (that is my day job) I would love to speak with her about that. Even though I'm no kiwi, I would tell her that the teachers are not the problem...we do the job day in and day out and are as passionate about doing our job as she is about her signing and now her students. If she wants to help in education, she could help by talking to teachers who work in challenging schools and understand what we are up against and perhaps see how her music or her own students could inspire these students. It is said the pen is mightier than the sword, but a beautiful well trained human voice is mightier than the pen.

All we care about is you Dame Kiri. We don't care about Prince Charles, it's like saying Kermit the Frog was there. Only YOU deserve the credit for this wonderful honor. You have the most beautiful voice I have every heard. Congratulations from America.

Gift!? It’s a honor, to be sure, and one richly deserved, imho, but unless the recipient is being given the deed to the property, including whatever profits (should there be any) may accrue, calling it a gift bothers me, it really does... I’m actually loosing sleep over this! 🤕 (There’s something fishy going on in NZ, and it has nothing to do with Kea Parrot’s attempts to drive off invasive species (humans and their sheep, most especially) or even competitive fly fishing on some secluded South Island river, lake, or stream.) *sigh*
    🎨😘😳🤹🏽‍♀️
