Remember me first i never said prat was a bad jockey but in the Belmont he broke flat footed then got squeezed between horses and tried to close 9 wide and bumped severely and again lugged in to about 3 wide finished 3rd. That was a great ride? Thanks for the info you bring you are very knowledgeable
Sierra Leone is a difficult horse. Riders can make mistakes but sometimes it is the horse causing the issues. It is probably a combination of bad habits and mental immaturity. Now that Prat has gotten acquainted with him, maybe he learned some things and will adjust next time. I do not know if they will ever correct the lugging in but they have to try.
Fierceness should point for the breeding shed
We will just have to see how he works in the coming weeks. The Derby seems to have really knocked him out. If he gets back to a high energy level and is the picture of health, the Haskell is a likely target. If not, retirement may be an option, but the vets and connections will ultimately make that decision.
@@JarrodHorak apparently he's got foot issues. They should just retire him, although the way it looks now the stud fee would be lower
@@teambitcoin7530 I did hear about the foot issues. If his next few works go well, they will probably move on the the Haskell, but if he flops there, that might be it. Even if he is doing well and shows up in the Haskell, his inconsistency makes him tough to trust.
@@JarrodHorak He's got problems with the hoof walls. He's already been treated with equilox, and you can spot the tan patches on his feet
@@teambitcoin7530 The equilox treatment is something I heard about quite some time ago. He clearly needs a decent amount of time between starts and that might be why. I have no idea if his feet are currently bothering him or if that has anything to do with his below par efforts. The feet were not an issue in his three big wins. He is a very exciting performer when he is sharp and healthy. If they can get him feeling good and back to peak form, I would love to see him in the Haskell.
Sierra Leone needs to BEAT someone to be horse of the year!! 2nd and 3rd doesn’t cut it. Plus they need to fix his lugging in. A bit and jockey change didnt do it!
this is where you take a layoff and get ready for the Haskell and Travers... speedy colts like yourself need spot rests... remember your battles vs Lost Code and War Emblem over the years lol
Slow weekend. I am going to do the Ohio Derby next week. Decent race with Catching Freedom in there.

They are not very fast at this stage. Hopefully we some improvement on the speed figure scale as the year progresses.
