Hello Sarah, I am a young 80 year old and I went through a filet crochet time in my life. I looked into my basket of all my crochet cotton with a lot of pretty lace pieces I never finished. I love the curtain on your window. I did make curtains that I finished and many doilies, tablecloths and coasters. It was funny that it was on the same day you talked about it.

It’s absolutely charming to hear you refer to your heart jumping over the crafty adventures! The example between your heart and your head, make my heart jump, because I relate to the whole experience and for myself, thought: “am I crazy?” Who else thinks like this? How can I explain this process to anyone? Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! It’s a gift!

Thanks for the lovely podcast, Sarah. I love your crochet curtain and macrame plant hangers! In the US we call the window covering with horizontal slats “blinds.”

Hej, Sarah, thank for your episode, it’s always a joy to watch and so much inspiration! I remember the little crochet curtains, they were very popular in german country style in the 1980/1990s years. Cute memory! I’ve the same window situation, the „Gehweg“, the sidewalk and street to our marina is just in front of my living room windows. Most time, I don’t mind people passing by, only tourists stare direct into the windows
or friends, I like to wave at or meet for a chat. I don’t like curtains. So I’ve some roller blind inside the window frame (not above!) for the sunlight in summertimes or some privacy. I cover them with a „Schabracke“, it’s a short curtain inside the window frame at the top of the window, mine is simple linen. It’s like a little clothing for the window, so the also don’t feel exposed! đŸ€Ł

Hi Sarah, with our shared Dutch ancestors filet crochet and Hollandse kant were very popular in South Africa. Also the makramie hanging potplant holders were very popular. We use the word stoep for our porches. Sypaadjie is the sidewalk. I don't crochet but my mom does. I buy all the yarn for crochet projects and she makes them for me. Atm she is busy with a feather stitch striped crochet blanket. It's a very pretty pattern if you want to Google it. I'm knitting hats, scarves and gloves because winter is coming to the southern hemisphere. Alway a joy watching your podcasts, thank you 😊

Sidewalk or walking path by your window, which has a lovely wide window sill lol and the wooden dowel, or curtain rod shouldn’t buckle under the light weight of the filet crochet. If you’re worried, u can always add a suction cup hanger to the window, but it may cheapen the look. What a beautiful home u have!

My husband's family was Dutch, and he wanted lace curtains in our windows like the ones we saw in Amsterdam. We hired a friend to make macramé curtains from cord in the 80's. We live near Chicago, IL.

I finished a Granny Stripe blanket for my daughters double bed two weeks ago. I did each stripe a different colour and wove my ends in every ten to twelve rows so I wouldn’t be overwhelmed with weaving in at the end. I started it at the end of January. She loves it and our winter is about to begin so the timing was perfect for finishing. She said it’s very warm and the weight is perfect. Yay! Now I am knitting my first garment since I was a young girl and I’m learning quite a few new to me techniques like twisted rib and tubular cast off.

In Poland the crocheted cutrains are called "firanki."They often had animals crocheted into them, kittens and bunnies with butterflies. Now these are usually just a sheer fabric or a lace fabric. In America these are called "sheers" so you can see out but people cant see in.

In Australia we call them footpaths ❀ I like that term, after all it is our feet connecting to a path. Windows treatments could be Venetian blinds or there is a trend to use wooden shutters in my part of the planet. They look very nice indeed. Love your podcasts.

In Aussie the stoop is called a footpath. When I hear stoop I think of it as an old fashioned word for the front door step, where one step up to someones front door.

Decolletage (end sounds like Taj....soft J) ... We use it, too. But more common is cleavage
And i think you were looking for sidewalk. When people say stoop, they mean a small front porch (used mostly on the east coast)
