Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia opens Grade 1 Competition at the Forres British Championships 2024

This is Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia's performance at the British Pipe Band Championships 2024. The afternoon was cold but started off dry with some sunshine.
This was a March, Strathspey and Reel competition and the bands selection was:
March: The Stirlingshire Militia, Hugh Mackay (1801 - 1864)
Strathspey: The Cameronian Rant, traditional
Reel: Charlie's Welcome, traditional
It was lovely to hear these top bands playing traditional march, strathspey and reel sets. There was enough variety in the tunes chosen by the bands to keep the competition fresh, and these three big tunes made for a substantial and demanding set.
The championships were organised by The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association in conjunction with YBD Music Ltd. They were held on Saturday, 8 June 2024 in Grant Park, Forres.
Shotts and Dykehead Pipe Band is led by Pipe Major Emmett Conway
and the Lead Drummer is Grant Cassidy. Ten grade bands competed and Shotts and Dykehead took second place. Full results at bit.ly/forres24.
