American late night chat shows are still too wedded to primarily having on actors to promote their stuff as part of the powerful PR machine. But having on interesting people who have something to say attracts more eyeballs than the producers and publicists think.

Given that 45 had not only negotiated the surrender to the Taliban but also set the time line for withdrawal and freed all the military prisoners to rejoin their troops against our forces, I think we were lucky to have got out as gracefully as we did. 45 also gifted Putin Syria and betrayed our allies the Kurds. He worked nonstop to weaken NATO and our ties to NATO allies from the time he got into power.

I watched her testimony during the impeachment proceedings...she demonstrated her professionalism and courage and took some hard hits from Trump and psychophantsfor the truths she told.

Sad, but true
I watched Dr. Hill testify. She didn't let Republican clowns waste her time, she went right to the point and warned us about Putin and his influence on several high-ranking members of the administration at the time, chiefly Donald.
If you need someone who knows that region, its history, and its strategic importance, accept no substitutes. Honestly I'm sad that she didn't go back to the NSC after Donald left.
Her book titled Mr. Putin is a great read as well as her newest book. Mr. Putin is probably far more relevant to the current situation.
I could understand her hesitancy if offered bc of her treatment after the first impeachment conviction. Her testimony was inspiring as is she.
Smart, factual and honest.
Fiona Hill is the epitome of the type of person we need literally watching out for our country. Her expertise, her decency rises above & beyond whatever Admin is/was in office. She spent those years looking out for Our Country. All this reinforces even more why her earlier testimony was so important & how disgracefully she (and others who testified) were treated. Their jobs, their compassion was on behalf of the USA, *_not_* whomever was in the White House.
Am so very grateful Dr. Hill is a positive part of Our Country. Bless her.
Her book is fascinating. It's her life story in the UK, US, and Russia. Eyewitness account of how similar economic forces spawned similar political backlash movements in all three places. You will learn so much from it and you'll feel like you really know her as a person (and the drivers of so much recent history) afterwards.

There is no single "truth", there are facts, arguments, reasoning and judgment.
You've found a historian who thinks that the crisis was forced onto Russia.
There are other people who are also qualified and intelligent, and they profoundly disagree (as reflected by governments).
Do you think that in ten years history books will say 'Russia invaded Ukraine, and this was justified by the behaviour of the west'? I'll see but I don't think they will.
Whatever concerns Putin had, and the interference in Ukraine, I would think that this invasion is a gross overreaction, which has sadly forfeited any hearing he would have got.

And we really need any help (especially planes and anti-aircraft weapons). I hope she writes lots of books. Fionas, knowledge of regional history is going to be waaaaaay better than any thick toneless textbook with nothing but names and dates to remember in it. I wish I could email her to thank her for her dedication to service. And for having an impeccable sense of integrity. She really is amazing. I'm glad she's on our side.
She has already written what's widely considered in the US to be the most comprehensive book on Putin. The title is "Mr. Putin: Operative in the Kremlin" and is incredibly insightful, especially now.
Although, it is a history book. So it does include a lot of names and dates, but overall she does wonderful at laying out a narrative that is easy to understand regardless. It's a great read and one I'd recommend for anyone that found this short clip or her testimony compelling.

Enjoyed Fiona Hill’s book “There is nothing for you here” immensely. Ive always tuned into quasi dry British wittisms which are throughout the book, with counterpointal Laugh out loud life experiences. Dr. Hill’s self driven successes are easy to relate to for persons of all ages and genders, backgrounds and ambitions provided youre someone with a solid work ethic and havent really ever slacked off. I dont (obviously) write or review, so I hope rather than taking my piss poor recommendation, you will simply pick up a copy in the format of your choice and settle in for a good story telling. Shes an awesome woman, even if her writing is self-deprecating, the gains are left for the reader.

Fiona Hill and Ambassador Yovanovich both stood out back in 2019 as people of immense courage and integrity at a time when it seemed more and more the norm to be self-serving, corrupt and manipulative.
