Oh, and Rob...truly one of the best drummers....he plays his drums, he doesn't hit or smash the drums, and he easily shows that.. anyone' can be a drummer but few can play. They weren't pretty enough for the 80s, lips' voice wasn't good enough, and the songs were too raunchy and juvenile. It's no secret why they didn't make it.

Same here. My band opened for them in Illinois a couple years after the movie came out. Had the chance to talk to Lips and then Rob for an hour. Great guys. Rob's son was their roadie. Glynn 5 didn't talk to anyone that I remember. The show was small but they played it like it was a stadium. Lips was in your face. So happy to see them doing what they love still.
Anvil is one band that has been through hell and back....and here they still are rockin out and doing what they wanted to do from day one. I've known this band since they started, not personally but as a fan. A 3 piece heavy metal band from Canada was not an easy thing to accomplish in the early 80's. (I know!) LOL BTW...going to see them next friday in Kingston ...that's April 21 people. Let's rock!

Wow the Netflix documentary made I️t seem like these guys were up there with Metallica and anthrax and all these bands and that they just weren’t at the right place at the right time... after watching this the real problem is obvious. They need a lead guitar player, and a lead vocalist would have been a nice addition but not 100% necessary. Lips is perfect at rhythm guitar. And he’s a good singer.
The documentary paints them as being some kind of guys that never got their shot but just listen and that's actually why. Plus look at the Wacken pen they are in compared to say. Immortal or Arch enemy. Dated fist rock
If I'm not mistaken, Rob didn't make one "mistake" during his solo. Never once hit the snare frame...or any other drum frame for that matter. It's like a hole-in-one drum solo.
I still think another guitarist would make them sound better but I admire the fact they never stopped, that's tenacity fir ya! Anvil deserve to be bigger!

Honestly I didn’t know enough about Anvil back in the day but the movie told a great story that made me want to root for them. The ONE thing that bands like ANVIL have as currency that CANNOT be taken away is their musical history It’s simply something that cannot be duplicated I hope they always do well they certainly deserve it
I completely respect what these guys do, their honesty for music and what they stand for. I mean no disrespect to the band but they need a second lead guitar player that is completely different than them to add some flavor. Shorten up some of the songs to keep the listener interested. A fantastic lead player and the best producer around could change things a lot.

The Thing is they are super nice humans and They have been around for so long , Im from the Toronto area and I even remember Anvil back in the early 80’s and its nice to see an 80’s act still playing so many decades later.
As a guitar player I can tell you, Lips does a great job. Some of thier rythems are difficult to play while singing. And he sings while soloing a few notes. Ridiculously difficult. I do agree they could use another guitarist. Probably cheaper as a three piece. But yeah, he's doing a great job to pull this off
I caught these guys in Wilmington N.C. They are amazing anyone who trashes these guys listen to miley sirus or Bieber . These guys play their instruments well.They love the audience id rather see them than any band they have opened for . Chris Marshall

There's some horrific trolling on here.firstly many people clearly have no understanding of how hard Anvil strived and grafted in small clubs...plus watch the movie and the 30 minute extra interview with Lars Ulrich about how important this band are. Also lean a guitar before trolling. I've done it. This is incredibly excellent and technical musicianship.

Saw Anvil open for Motorhead in TO, '81. They were just a local band then with their first album due out 2 weeks after the show.
Lips is so cool and true.The story of anvil is old now and helped them .Whish them the best and you got to love them if your a metal head .
