The check engine light is for a faulty o2 sensor, not because of the disconnected hose!

Bro the valve not operating will eventually screw the turbocharger up. Most setups that run no recirc valve have a turbo that can handle it. The little shitty thing on our 1.8t’s won’t last long without the recirc valve working right.

Yes and no… it does indeed hurt the turbo as the flutter is chopping the air causing a stall.. for journal bearing turbos this will significantly weaken them and cause shaft play and eventually blow the seal. Seen my family member cane 3 turbos. But won’t happen over night

    • @shmoud99

It still hurt your turbo, but not that significantly as bigger turbos, you really wouldn't want to do it on like a R34 or smth, but with stock turbos on 1.8T or 1.9TDi it's not that bad to run it for like 5 years

I think I know what he means when he says to cap off the blow off valve. The hose leads back to the front of the turbo to recirculate that air, to maintain efficiency and maintain the same air the mass airflow sensor reads. This will just cause your engine to run rich when the throttle is released.
