as a fellow band kid i have to agree with you on this one, i was playing a piece with the orchestra and they played this at the concert and at that point i lost all faith in how our band sounded the next day :(

I'm playing this for orchestra, and, the first time I heard it, I loved it more and more as the piece went on. Then, I realized that we were going to butcher it so hard and I cried on the inside.
Ugh.. The only thing I miss about high school is orchestra. It's really not the same playing on my own. I can play this piece perfectly now, so much better than I was in high school; but violin 1 is nothing without the rest of the orchestra... 😭
@@mariabautista2797 violin 1 is definitely harder, as usual. Usually violinists who've had more practice play the most difficult parts which is most often the melody in an all strings orchestra. We had to play this a few months back and being a viola in the orchestra nobody really pay attention to us but in all it sounded great 👍👌✌️ go great falls high
I played viola when I was in school and there were only 4 of us and everyone absolutely LOVED how we sounded. I even got some solos at the UIL contests and stole ones the violin solos. I missed those days so much. 😭😭
One of my favorite pieces I've ever played. I've always loved the sound ever since the first time I heard it. Everyone who has played it and heard it loved it instantly.
I love this song! We’re playing it in chamber orchestra, and it’s one of my favorite orchestra songs. I usually come up with stories for the orchestra songs, this one reminds me of two people in 1860s evening gowns doing some sort of magical fight thing and it’s very dramatic and hard to explain.
It's very interesting to see all the catalogue of comments going up to 4 years ago talking about playing this in highschool with me doing it now. Banger song.
Thank you to this piece I played this with my symphonic string class and we played it at MPA along with The gift and Wired and it got us straight superiors 🎶
I get to play this in 8th grade first violin and its fun but mainly easy but i love how it sounds with all the instruments and energy put into the song is amazing (We also play curse of the rosin eating zombies) for halloween concert
Omg same we played this song and curse of rosin eating zombies we have 7th and 8th grade combined in orch (over 50 ppl in it) I'm also first violin also I'm in 7th grade
how long it did take y'all to learn this cause it's taking a second for me cause idk we're not playing it too much in class but i really love the sound and im trying to play at home :>

Same, tired of people not acknowledging orchestra😞
Fun fact: the composer's inspiration for this is when he had a dream where his wife stabbed him and he was slipping on his own blood. Weird.
No way!!! The composer (Mosier) was a guest conductor for my orchestra's rehearsal a couple years back. Crazy story

Everyone had a vote and majority decided not to played it. Then I played the parts that the Violins had to play on my Viola just to spite them.
A mood
Same. Whenever we first play a song it sounds like trash, and it doesnt sound better until the dress rehearsal the day before our annual concert.
same tho
My problem is our conductor makes us play it at the speed of fucking light-
The Basses finally get a solo I got so happy because we finally have something important
if you don’t know it, listen to the emerald falcon by richard meyer 😌
