Thank you helped a ton. Local shop wanted to charge me 450 for the labor plus another 200 for the spring. Yeah I worked construction for 20 years and I'm not gonna pay for something I can do myself.

According to a garage door installer i spoke to he said this method is only for torsion springs. I have a one piece door.

how does the door bend when it rolls up if you have a one piece door?

@@RichRich007 He probably has one of the old swing out and up doors. They use a different type of spring.
