  • Don't live in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2024 unless you can handle these seven cons! Are you thinking of moving to Nashville, Tennessee? In this video, we'll discover the nitty-gritty of living in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2024.
Here are the key highlights of this video:
    1. Weather - Not all sunshine and rainbows; watch out and prepare for tornadoes, including extreme colds, during winter.
    2. Traffic - Brought mainly by Nashville's rapid growth, brace yourself for headache-inducing traffic congestion and the lack of proper public transportation.
    3. Tourist - Thousands of tourists visit Nashville every year, so be sure to pack an extra amount of patience, particularly when visiting popular areas.
    4. Rapid Growth - This brings widespread construction and development, often resulting in dust, noise, and disruptions to daily life.
    5. Lack of Good Food - This applies if you end up in the suburbs of Nashville for culinary exploration; there are not many options in these areas, and you might find the food could be more appealing.
    6. Allergies - Are you prone to allergies? Nashville's lush greenery and blooming flowers might pose a challenge, so be sure to stock up on allergy medication, especially during the spring and fall seasons!
    7. Southern Hospitality - The good people of Nashville are not stalking you, neither are they about to stick their nose in your business if they walk up to you while you're doing your grocery run; they simply wanted to welcome you so be patient and turn them away politely if you feel uncomfortable.
Living in Nashville comes with its perks and challenges. While the city's vibrant culture and welcoming atmosphere are undeniable, weighing these against potential drawbacks is essential. Whether you're a prospective resident or a current Nashvillian, knowing these factors can help you make informed decisions about calling Music City home.

I live in Maryville, Tn!!! It is a small town!!! It is perfect for me!!! The traffic is not heavy like it is in Nashville!!! The food in the restaurants is very very very good in Maryville!!! I will never move to a big city like Nashville!!! I am a small town girl!!!❤

The two main critiques seem to be:
Food. There's plenty of food. I'm 10 minutes from most all the food, including Mexican, Thai, and Middle Eastern I want.
Traffic: I can get most everywhere in 15 to 20 minutes--in 5pm traffic, it's still fairly good, but everybody has rushhour traffic too. Everywhere has traffic and rushhour traffic. If you think Nashville has traffic, try Atlanta, Austin, or Washington DC. Every comparable city is going to have comparable or worse traffic. In fact, some smaller cities actually have worse traffic.
The roads are getting a little abused and our mass transit is middling at best. But when you can get most everywhere in 15 to 20 minutes, this is much less of an issue.

Lots of cons. You will meet a good amount of people they leave after a year or two. It’s definitely not a very deal to move here like it used to be.

Is there a good train system like New York , I am moving from london to nashville and will be working downtown and would like to know if there is a good train system as i wont be able to get a car just yet

Unfortunately not. There have been attempts at making this kind of move for an expansive train system, however locals weren’t convinced that it wouldn’t end up costing more $ than it’s worth…. This is why we were voted worst transportation city by Forbes… we do have bus lines that take you downtown, so as long as you live near one of the major vessels (Gallatin pike, Charlotte pike, Murfreesboro pike, Franklin pike, Lebanon pike, nolensville pike) you’ll have a relatively straight forward path to downtown by way of bus.
Mayor Freddie also plans on making practical steps to improve sidewalks and more bus routes that integrate across town rather than just straight downtown and out.

Public transit sucks here. It’s not a real city.
