The new Trolling Motor Option with MEGA DI is only 2D Sonar and MEGA DI no MEGA SI.

dang i just bought my ultrex in october and it didnt come with this transducer, bummer because i have a solix.
MEGA DI was announced at ICAST as new addition to the Trolling Motor line. You can buy with US2 or MEGA DI now. Two different choices.
How about the Ulterra? Will any of the Hummingbirds integrate well with that? Trying to find a good setup for my dads pontoon. Thanks
Ulterra will have option for MEGA DI Models too. All the Premium Series Trolling Motors will offer the MEGA DI Option.
I am glad I found and watched this video. You always have good stuff DV. I was going to purchase an Ultrex and Helix 9 DI. I will definitely look into the Ultrex with Mega DI. A con, I would think, is that the DI can only be seen on your Helix when the Ultrex is down in the water. What if I'm cruising at 4mph and I want to see the DI at the console? I'd have to have a DI transducer on the transom, right?
Correct. I would use the transom transducer for the console unit and the MK ULTREX with MEGA DI at the bow.
Doug, I bought Minn Kota Ulterra 80 lbs 24 V witch built in MDI transducer . My sonar (Helix 9x Chirp MSI Gen 3 only reads MDI) What should I do to read 2D?
Which cable # do you need for MDI with helix 7?
Which HELIX 7? it must be MEGA DI Compatible unit to with the Built in MEGA DI Transdcuer
Very sad they don't offer MDI transducers on 55lb models , people don't need 80lb trolling motors on 16-17' boats.
Actually I shouldn't post about 55lb motors under Ultrex because they don't offer smaller motors than 80lb from this model, I was thinking about Terrowa 55lb that I'm about to buy but I don't like that they don't offer MDI build in transducer , but most importantly I dont like lower unit design on 55lb models because there is not enough space to install longer transducers for example from Helix 10 MDI units so I'm limited to Helix 7,8 with smaller transducers at the same time Motor Guide is able to keep same design on all models , I know that I can buy 55lb motor with US2 sonar because this one allows for larger transducer installations but why pay for US2 sonar few hundreds $ and not use it. I don't know maybe there is not enough market for Terrova 55lb with build in mega imaging transducer, but I would buy one to not to deal with this transducer cable on the shaft.
You might look at the cost difference between a 55# and 80# since you have the same battery requirements the 80 will be more efficient with power and allow you to stay on the lake longer especially if the wind kicks up. You can run at lower percentage and batteries last longer. My philosophy buy the largest thrust in a voltage range (24 volt) because the added thrust is cheaper and you'll always have plenty more. That is probably the reason for the 55# not have MEGA DI is different lower unit would be required.
@@DougVahrenberg , thanks for replay , one more question , I believe that I read somewhere that if you install too big trolling motor for a boat size you may witness some aggressive boat movements while on spot lock or following track because there is too much trust for boat weight, is that true? Do you think , I may have this kind of problems installing 80lb terrova I pilot link on 16,5' fiberglass fishing boat? Thanks in advance.
I just bought a new terrova in the spring, am I able to swap out the US2 sonar for the DI?
It's more than just swapping out the transducers. In My Opinion: I don't think you will see since this is an additional new product added to the line of trolling motors. US2 Motors will still be built...not everyone has a Humminbird Yet!

My imaging doesn’t look anything like that. I only get a few pixels on hard returns if my sensitivity is set to 20 and my contrast set low.
I just ordered the new Ultrex with the MDI and MSI transducer in it to go with my solix....have you tried the new ultrex yet

Not upgradeable this is more that just changing out transducer.
@@DougVahrenbergHmm sucks youd think you could change the whole shaft and motor.. Guess il be ordering a new transducer shield saver. Reason I asked I broke my shaft (I know sounds funny) and was wondering if I could possibly pay more for the upgraded ducer motor. Also Reminds me I havent heard back from Humminbird.

You can only hook one transducer to a unit at a time. Not sure why you need MEGA DI when when the MEGA SI has all the sonar in the MEGA SI Transducer, just use it.
My jon boat only have 1 Solix up front. I wanna see mega di when deployed and see di si from my transom when stowed.
You'll have to manually change each time

It's more than just replacing transducers. In My Opinion: I don't see an upgrade being available.

How do you hook up both the 360 transducer cable and the built in mega transducer to the one Helix unit?
360 Imaging is an Ethernet Accessory and connects to Ethernet Port or 5 Port Switch. Transducer connects to the back of the unit.
What do you use you Solix 10 for?
I run 360 full time on SOLIX and MEGA DI/2D on the HELIX Normally or something change up and do mapping. I normally have both running with 360 running all the time on one of the units.
I run two helix 10's Gen 2 up front with an ultrex and All i get is interferance. My images look nothing like this.
Are they MEGA DI versions or standard DI Models? Which transducer are you running the Trolling Motor Version from Humminbird or the Transom style that came in the box? You must run the Trolling Motor Version it has internal shielding to reduce Electrical Interference.
ok thanks for the response doug, both units are Di/Sonar?gps Gen 2 models, but they are etherneted together and run to an external di transom tranducer (the one from the original box) on the bottom of the trolling motor. (mounted in a tranducer saver)
Did you watch TNT 196: czcams.com/video/SkuYxAVvDno/video.html that is the reason I did that video because the Transom Transducer was not designed for Trolling Motor Application.
Doug Vahrenberg appreciate the help no I had not seen the other video you sent me I've already reached out to humminbird and I'm mailing in my transducer to exchange it. I also have a couple friends that are going to do the same. Now if you do a video on what your general settings are set at that would be great!
I have just look at the HELIX DI Videos I show how to adjust to the conditions. I Super Tune my graph for the conditions and those videos show you how I do it. It's simple...it's a Humminbird

Yea, that's what I keep hearing. Very vague! My dealer hasn't heard a date either. I hope the quirks of the original Ultrex will finally be worked out in this new version also. Can't wait.
It was just announced as a new product less than a month ago. Word that I hear they will be building and shipping this fall. Your dealer once he orders will be able to keep up with estimated ship dates.

If you could help me out with what all I will need to purchase. Changing my 2012 z520 from early lowrance HDS 8and 10 to Hummingbird Helix units and spot-loc min Kota. Would like go with a 10 and 12” units. When I go to bass pro they talk in circles I’ve talked to 3 different salesman and they’ve told me 3 different things. Any help would really be appreciated. Thank You
You will need HELIX 10 or 12 G2N Versions If you do MEGA DI on ULTREX you will need MEGA DI Version at the Bow. The Console I would do MEGA Imaging (SI & DI) and get the MinnKota ULTREX with iPilot LINK that will network to your Humminbird Units.

You can add the GPS-HS with Heading Sensor if you need external GPS with ELectronic Compass. You can Ethernet 2 units directly but if you add more than 2 units or ethernet accessories like iPilot LINK you will need the 5 Port Switch. I have videos on all this I have done to help show what you need

can you not just buy the housing for the ultrex. i have the 80 but it has just the 2d built in. @DougVahrenberg
Minn kota is making a big mistake for not utilizing SI or 360 built in.
