How to Catch a Motorcycle Thief

  • Motorcycle insurance is great and all, but if you have a highly modified/personalised bike, the actual value of it is likely much greater than what its model name would suggest! For example, my 2009 Yamaha YZ250 2 stroke with 170 hours on the clock doesn't sound very impressive... But as anyone who's been watching the 'Crafting a KTM Killer' bike build series will know, it has a whole slew of extremely valuable parts on it making it worth closer to what a brand-new 2022 model would go for. However if it were stolen tomorrow, I'd be lucky to get four grand for it... This is where an anti-theft device such as the new MoniMoto 7 can come into play! Watch as I unbox, install and test this cutting-edge GPS tracker.

    Thoughts on the new intro?! Also pls don't judge my messy garage, everything that didn't make the cut during the move just sorta got dumped out there for the time being... I'll get it tidied up soon and continue my mechanical mastery 🔧🤪

    What i like to do to keep my bike from being stolen is disconnecting the spark plug cap. Sure it's easy to figure out the issue and just reconnect it but most people trying to steal a dirt bike won't bother if it doesn't instantly start up. If you wanna be extra cautious then just take the spark plug out every time you plan on parking anywhere for more than 20 minutes. I usually carry the tools around anyways so it isn't a big deal for me however if your bike does get stolen there's no way of tracking it unless you get yourself one of those tracking devices. Take it as you will though, some will leave their bikes out without any protection without worrying about it getting stolen but it's a risk you'd have to be willing to take. I for one wouldn't want my bike getting stolen and I'm sure anybody reading this wouldn't either!

      Those tracking devices use a prepaid sim card. Kind of a pain in the ass to change the 1-3 month card out every 1-3 months. Especially if you hide the tracker in a hard to get at place.

    • @ZmanAdventurez88
      @ZmanAdventurez88 Před 2 lety +2

      @@DmenDuroRider That's very true, it can get pricey too. Having to take it out every few months would be a pain depending on where you might hide it. If you put it inside your seat for example then you'd have to tear into your seat every time to get to it.

    Unfortunately the first thing the thieves do, while they’re driving out your driveway is strip it and look for trackers (inside their white Toyota van)
    It’s that big you can’t hide it

    Terry from Christchurch New Zealand love ua work young man, best advice to avoid theft is to have a tinted windows van for transportation and don't put moto stickers over it, also don't ride up and down ua nabourhood lol, when warming up for oil changes bunch up and hold an old towel over the exhaust to muffle the sound but ua gota move it round a bit as it gets warm. Ua never know when the property's round ua sell or have new tenants. If ua catch them in ua garage without a traceable cellphone, I'm sure the laws say you can keep them live in a 44gallon drum for three days too see if they had friends that new they were doing you over, if no one shows up procide to dump the drum with a couple of holes in the nearest marine reserve, as no one is permitted to dredge there. I've had 32 New Yamaha bikes never had any stolen. But I've owned a boat the hole time only used it once. Blues4boys....
