Many don’t understand what makes them so much more expensive. All you gotta do is touch the strings on these and they just boom with sound 👍🏻. That’s where the price comes from. Quality guitars made from quality materials aren’t cheap but man are they worth it !

I own one of these in amber tone... and you barely have to touch the strings and it booms....

Great sound. What Mic are you using in this video.

Sorry, just saw your question now. The mic is an Audio Technica AT 2021 small diaphragm condenser mic.

Would you steer someone in the market for a guitar towards a hd28 or d18

I would say you can't go wrong with either, both are great models. If possible, play both in person to help you decide. Good luck in your search, cheers!

@@toddvossmusic7833 I played them a few weeks ago. I felt that the hd28 had a little more bass and growl which I like. If I was a good flat picked I think I would lean towards the 18 but since I’m not (yet) I think the more growling hd28 is more my style.

@@daltonrobinson253 Important to go with your preference and gut feeling I think. You can flatpick the HD-28 too.
You can always add, or switch to, a D-18 or other model as your needs and preferences change.

Hands down D-18. I have owned 15 Martins since 1961.
There are two models that I consider the best Martin has made:
The 00-18, I have a 2015 00-18V with flamed mahogany backs and sides..
The D-18. I have owned several.. and of those the best would be (for me) the D-18S 12 fret slot head
      or a D-18 with a 1 3/4 nut width.
Incidentally, my first Martin in '61 was a 1939 00-17... I paid $4, yes four dollars.. got ripped off though, no case.
Unfortunately it was stolen in 1965. It was magical. New age Martin 00-15s and 17s , while good, do not compare.
I really enjoy the D-28 HD-28 and especially the HD-28 V and the 28S models.
But, Mahogany ( never "hog" .. and insult)is my thing. Does it all.
