Group of hardcore AS Roma ultras attack Chelsea fans in Irish pub.
Several fans of Chelsea football club were attacked by a group of up to 40 AS Roma ultras who stormed an Irish pub in Rome's Monti area on 30 October.
The incident took place at around midnight at The Shamrock on Via del Colosseo, ahead of the AS Roma-Chelsea match on the evening of 31 October.
The masked attackers used clubs to assault the Chelsea fans, none of whom received serious injuries. The assailants caused damage to The Shamrock and fled the scene quickly.
Police have put a security plan in place for the match and are monitoring up to 200 Chelsea fans for potential hooliganism.
In 2012 ten supporters of English football club Tottenham Hotspur were injured after being attacked at The Drunken Ship pub in Campo de' Fiori, while in 2015 fans of Dutch side Feyenoord wreaked havoc in Piazza di Spagna.
