I greatly overleveled during my playthrough after the first time I encountered a special enemy and a frog coin came out of it
In the original frog coins were such a pain now you can level grind and get a handful of them

You honestly don't even need the exp booster. Normal game progression will get you to level 30 anyway.
@@sewaproloeh 100%ing it though. Best to get it, get max level for everyone then remove it. Same with the signal ring or the echo version atleast. Once you got all the secret treasure stuff then just de equip and get the stuff ya need for the bosses during and after the end of the game.

Personally I like to grind special enemies with the machine made claymorton, they’re infinite spawning and their shymores also have a chance to be a special enemy… while not a quick as this, it’s a good alternative for people who aren’t as good at these timing minigames.
Good way to level up as well!!
@@sny_guy Indeed, I noticed that too, i equipped the lucky hammer to Mario to make that last grind to level 30 just that bit easier.

I am good for the most part. Just a lot better on the SNES version. Plus the special enemies make grinding frog coins here unnecessary now.
If they kept most of the same features as the original, Mario's Jump special move becomes more powerful the more you use it. Its power caps out roughly around 500 uses.

@@sny_guy It was determined that for every two uses of Mario's Jump ability, the magic attack power would increase by 1, up to a maximum of 255 magic attack power. This only applies to Mario, and this only applies to each successful timed Jump, not super, or ultra. Base magic attack for Jump is 25 by default, meaning 500 successfully timed uses of the Jump would cap out its damage. It's definitely something to look into with the new game.

@@Jaymunnie I remember learning about that in the original game and on my very next playthrough I decided to grind out Mario's Jump ability to max just as soon as I got to Mushroom Way. Let me tell you: Maxing out Mario's Jump gives you an _EXTREMELY_ cheap, _EXTREMELY_ effective attack that can easily carry you through nearly the entire game. It's really only by the time you get to Land's End that it even begins to start to fall off, and even then, not by much! Mario RPG isn't a hard game, but if you're ever having trouble early on, grinding out those jumps can quickly tilt the odds in your favor. 💙👢
The normal jump gets stupid strong half the game is mario jump and that's all the rest can sit and watch or heal I guess.
Even in the final boss I spammed Mario's jump it was like 400 damage end game 😂

It helps to use the lines/squares on the cliff face itself as indicators of where/when to jump. For the 3rd-to-last shell (the vertically rising one), wait until the shell lines up with the horizontal line on the cliff to make the jump. Jumping from the next shell to the last one, use the vertical line on the cliff to line up your fall onto the shell. And for the last shell, jump when the shell is about halfway up the square.

Sny_Guy, oh that's awesome of knowing for future reference! I'm at the Forest Maze which I've got about 23 Frog Coins so far. So when I get to this junction point, I'll see about grinding this out for getting 999 frog coins, which that ought to be plenty for buying everything.

@@sny_guy although 999 frog coins may indeed be a TON, but didn't you mention how certain items can be VERY expensive in upwards of 50 frog coins? So having 999 of them I'm sure will pay off in being WELL PREPARED for the fight against Culex especially.

I've just made two purchases with my 74 frog coins I had saved up.......the EXP Booster and the Coin Trick from Frogucious that'll enable me to TONS of Coins really fast as I have about 2,800 so far. And with Belome's Temple to get through as there are several Frog Coins there to grab as well as those by the giant cliff of getting unlimited Frog Coins after I get to Monstro Town I should be fine in regaining back my spent frog coins.
I've been practicing this minigame for about 45 minutes, and I'm doing what the video says but my fastest time is 10.04. I'm getting better and more consistent but not good enough to get the 5 coin reward frequently.

The best method it's fighting the bones near the end of the ghost ship, with 27 exp. For 40 min I collected 100 frog coins and almost reach lv 30.
40 mins the paratroopa way would prob get you 1000 😂

In the original i found a wiggler in the woods and jumped on it over and over again because jumping on it 8-7 times gives a frog coin. You can also do it with the whirlpool enemy in the lands end whirlpool section. Looking at the tas for the original it may be faster if your good enough. This is better overall.

Also by "this" I mean the troops shells. It takes probably 5 seconds per frog coin on wigglers and the whirlpool enemy and probably around 4 seconds per coin on koopa shell jumps if you take around 20 seconds each time. Also only loss if falling for koopa shells is small amounts of time but for the other you may go into an encounter and it is much more random so it is easier to fail
Gonna try this later, I’m just glad that the best farming method isn’t the jumping platform one. Need more coins to get the coin and flower point badges and to fill out entries in the monster journal that I can’t get.
I got so lazy when it came to the monster entries. I was tired of using Mallow 😂😂😂
@@sny_guy same, but I tried using Mallow as much as I could trying to not use as much frog coins. I didn’t realize until later you need to time it perfect to get the entry so some of enemies, mainly hard to find ones and bosses, I didn’t get their entry. I managed to get enough coins to fill out every enemy before the post-game, then I realized you have to also have scan the rematches as well. Now I’ve got to grind for more entries and the badges, hoping it won’t take long, I’m trying to do 100% run.

Not to mince words here, but the timing for farming frog coins was a lot easier in the SNES version. In that version, I could consistently get 5 frog coins easily. In this version, I can barely get the Troopa Pin. Besides, the special enemies has changed my routing in this version, making Sergeant Flutter unnecessary for frog coins.
I think depth perception is a little tougher in this version.
I tended to farm frog coins on Grate Guy's casino with the slots or the blackjack
It's not blackjack in switch remake, its just matching pairs 😢 but yes that's a easier (on the hands) way to farm the coins

Wish I knew about this before I decided to get a ton of frog coins by paying the hooded guy and run his expert course 3 times for only four frog coins.
Right such a tease at first? I think I preferred that course on the snes version.
I'm an absolute sloot for fighting every enemy I encounter, and special enemies are super abundant. Between this and maining Mallow at all times for scanning for the bestiary, I've had no problems with frog coins.
I got really lazy with the journal after a while.
Truth be told, in addition to thought peeking, I also mained Mallow instead of Geno because in the remake I was particularly trash at timed hits with his weapons.

Doing the troopa shell jumps without the dpad is pain. The dpad does not work here either.

I found a room in rose way where the 5 chests (one including a mushroom), and a bunch of shy guys respawns 100% every time you exit and enter. VERY easy way to grind experience, because you get a free mushroom every time (full hp and fp recovery).

I made the mistake of not thought peeking some single fight enemies so now I need over a hundred frog coins to fill out the monster list. I wish they had included a way to exchange regular coins for frog coins in the remake, even if it was 100 for 1.
I mean is anything in the game blocked off aside from bosses? I'd go find those enemies myself and just buy the not available to fight again ones.
Of course soon as the game showed me the peek checkmark I went super OCD so fast and made sure to use it everywhere😂

I did this to max out my items, get everything from the Frog Student, and get all the Monster Journal Entries. It works well! 😁😁😁😁

So what about that one optional but tricky vine jump? The one where if you stop moving to soon you'll miss it, but over do it you fall off the vine due to how the function of the vine works and the direction you're moving in?
Isn't that a case where there's a block to jump off of directly above where that vine jump starts?
I just played this part earlier today and nearly threw my controller trying to make that jump. But it turns out you're not supposed to do it that way (if it's even possible at all). There is a hidden ledge block that appears if you jump straight up while standing on the top of the middle vine.
Yes there is def a hidden platform to help with that!!

I hate how mario moves in here. It's so annoying. I think it took me like 20 mins alone to get up the cliff the first time. It's so easy to fall or over jump the shells

The main question is, is any of this neccessary? Theres more than enough to buy the exp booster when i played in SNES version, i dont recall needing any more frog coins. Or needing the lazy shell. Or the super armor/attack scarf,
... i really wish the switch game had a hard mode its at least 2x easier than SNES, im just saying that from FREE PARTY SWAP IN BATTLES, and much much more item space even on nornal mode, and that chain bonus stuff. And the team attack stuff, and the game throwing you the alarm ring soon as you get to the mushroom kingdom,
