      They sell more knives than pretty much any other knife company in the market. They are an innovative company that are completely made in the USA. All American knife makers that are exclusively made in America are expensive. There are plenty of Chinese budget brands for guys in your tax bracket.

    • @tutzdesYT
      @tutzdesYT Před 4 měsíci

      @@cameronduncan7921 Victorinox and all major kitchen knife brands say hello to some tiny garage institution. Benchmade are not innovative. Last major thing they made for a knife industry was axis-lock and it is pretty old. Compared to, say, America made Kershaws they ask much more for comparable materials and quality. Benchmade steadily walked into Microtech's territory while losing the style. What they offer now are essentially "user's knives" for the price of premium ones.
      I'm a huge fan of BM of the old and very saddened by the direction they chose. RIP THE balisong company, innovative one, the company of Pardue, Sibert, Osbourne, Lum and other big designers. All my favourite Benchmade knives are ~10 years old models and some are no longer made.

      If you feel like spending more money to accomplish the same goal, then that is your decision. For myself, I will be more wise with my resources so that I may allocate them to other items. For example: I can spend $300 on one knife, or I can spend $100 on an Esee (better customer service still American made), $100 in medical supplies, and then $100 in ammo.
      Please remember, that you ARE subject to confiscation of property IF an officer deems it necessary to remove said item from “ a potentially dangerous person” and they don’t have to prove ANYTHING… so a more affordable option is easier to replace than an expensive one when you loose it.
      Lastly, this is a channel where everyone is allowed their own opinion. There is no need for you to attempt to insult anyone, especially when you don’t know my “tax bracket.”

    I do like my 20cv griptilian but I only paid $115 when they were on sale. No f-ing way am I paying the prices they are asking. Most sites now make you call for pricing on BM knives. They won’t even list the prices on their website. Absolutely insane!
    Also, I love all the suckers defending BM because they’re American Made. Kershaw, Hogue, and Spyderco all make great knives in the USA and they aren’t price gouging their customers like BM. (Although Spyderco is starting to get a little ridiculous too)
    I really hope consumers wake up and realize that prices are high because suckers buy into marketing designed to manipulate them into thinking that there’s something magical that makes these knives worth the ludicrous amounts of money they are asking. It’s like they think there’s actually a bunch of old wounded veterans, with weathered hands and years of know-how and experience, fashioning these knives by hand.
    Come on! These knives are made on CNC machines! And, they’re the same damn machines they use in Japan, Taiwan, and China. You are paying for MARKETING!

      @@Pali_Soldier1991 I got one of those a while ago. It looks great, but honestly I like the thumb-stud version better. The problem with the sheepsfoot blade is that the opening hole is actually pretty small, even though it doesn’t look like it. So, it’s not as easy to open as a spyderco. The 20cv model I really like is the Knifecenter exclusive that came with the red plastic handle scales. They had them on clearance back around Christmas 2023. I ordered a bunch as gifts. I ended up getting a set of AWT scales for mine (I got blemished ones for like $50) and now that knife is damn close to perfect.

    My favorite Benchmade is my full sized Benchmande Griptilian with a 3.45" CPM-20CV Drop Point Blade, and a Red GFN Handles, which was a KnifeCenter Exclusive. DCA used to rave about it ALL THE TIME. I bought it in February 2022 for $150. It a perfect knife and didn't set my hair on fire because if was not freaking expensive, like all Benchmades are priced now. I also own the mini Presido II (big disappointment because it doesn't smoothly open or close), the 940 Osborne (which I never use), and the Bencmade Mini Barrage, before BM hiked the price and changed the handle and blade material and nearly doubled the price of this knife. I do like my Mini Barrage. I also own a BM mini Adamas. Almost all my Benchmades were bought from 2020 to 2022, before BM knife prices when sky high. My five BM cost $845 in total.

    1 - Taggedout in Magnacut with CF scales
    2 - Bailout M4 with the green
    aluminum scales
    3 - Mini Adamas - I like them ao much I have 3 variations.
    4 - Superfreek - M4 with the nice G10 scales
    5 - Bugout - I have 3 as well

    Benchmade is the innovator in the market place. The 940, Griptilian, were monsters but the Bugout and Axis lock were replicated by almost every knife maker in the world. The Bugout is still probably the best edc on the market and carry one regularly.

So I jumped all over it. Really looking forward to experiencing and using the Griptillian. Love the videos. I never miss one.

    I wish they brought back the Valet and that was my dress knife for many years. It a pretty damn amazing knife, and maybe make the axis lock the newer type and 10% larger. I would purchase that on sale. From that selection I have the Presidio 2, and the older Bushcrafter, though the newer sheath design on that over the older leather one looks much more secure. For the EDC I am still going with my 940 if I use my Benchmade knives. Oh and I wish they brought back the Hidden Canyon 2 with the finger choil. That was such an awesome small fixed blade.

  • @gordonmacdowell8117
    @gordonmacdowell8117 Před 4 měsíci

    For fixed blades, you really need one category for skinners and one for bushcraft/camping for Benchmade, with how many hunting knives they have in their catalog. I'd love them to make new Leuku knives again, but with different handle material than the rubbery Santoprene. I can't believe you didn't include the Griptilian. I've got a dozen Benchmade and it's my most used knife of the brand and the one that really got me into them. It's not pretty, but it's a great working design.
    For gentleman's blades, the Proper is the only real choice, other than the limited edition Mini Crooked River they put out with the hunting scene etchings. Unless you do something very special with carbon fiber, probably not black, it's more tech bro than gentlemanly, other than needing to be landed gentry to afford some of them.

    are benchmade prices high? yeah of course, but also who else is making the Bailout? nobody else does it, and Benchmade does it well. The Bailout is a thin, slicey, beast with an extraordinarily useful tanto. Untill something actually better comes along (not just cheaper) ill give credit where its due.

    I have a Griptilian, a Mini Griptilian and a Mini Osbourne. The Mini Griptilian came first, I've had that since 1998 and it is still the knife I carry most often. I bought a full size Griptilian around 2005 but haven't carried it much, it's just bigger than what I usually need on a daily basis. The Mini Osbourne I like but it isn't as easy for me to flip open with my thumb, plus it's S30V steel which is a bit brittle, and the very tip, maybe .25mm, broke off not long after I got it and I wasn't doing anything with it that should've broken the tip. With such a small piece broken off the tip it's really not noticeable but it does make me question the durability of the blade. The 440C steel of my Mini Griptilian nor the CPM 154 of the full size Griptilian have ever given me cause to worry about chipping or breaking the blade. I may get a full sized Osbourne if they ever move on from the S30V on the base model.
