isnt an ecg strip 10 seconds?
Why 6 sec is used and not 4/8/10/12 secs
good question
U can take anytiming
If its for 4 sec , multiple by 15
If its for 12sec,multiply by 5 u need a long ecg strip

why not multiplied by 6?
I was actually confused too why it was x 6 instead of 10
I was confused too! But if the whole strip is 6sec you want to find the beats per MINUTE.
so 6sec × 10 = 60sec aka 1min
you multiply the qrs complexes by 10 so you can find the bpm rather than find the beats per 36sec which is what you'd get if you only multiplied by 6 (:

We calculate this using which lead on the ecg?
most likely the rhythm strip AKA the longest strip at the bottom of the ECG, which is usually lead II but may be V1, or any other lead depending on the hospital/doctor/patient
