Black Panther Book 6: The Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda Part 1 -- amzn.to/2xcqgBE
Wakanda = One of the most advanced Earth-born civilizations in the MU. I really don't see how big space stories about Wakandans took even this long. Also, it's good to see that some writers aren't afraid to keep Storm in the picture. Thanks for featuring these books!
Anytime! That's one of the reasons I liked it when Coates took over. One of the first things he did was put them back together. That and he wanted more for BP than just stereotypical stuff. He really dug his heels in on the black sci-fi element.
It's because Wakanda was super isolationist in the past
It's the MOST Advanced civilization The Earth has Ever Seen
Wakanda is the most advanced Human civilization on Earth. The most advanced civilization is the Eternals
YUP, racist subhuman CONservatives hating on Black people are the only problem
I fell off Black Panther awhile ago: the space stuff confused the hell out of me. I gotta get back into it
It reads better all at once rather than month to month
What JED said. I actually let the trades stack up and read the first 12 issues in one sitting. Made WAY more sense. Same for Coates earlier BP books. He's a slow burn writer so it's better to get it in one sit.
Wow! I didn't even know Wakanda had an Intergalactic empire? It sounds fascinating.
Wakanda is outchea!!! 💯
Black panther has become too Op
Would be an interesting twist if the vibranium "meteor" the Wakandans were mining was instead a fleet of vibranium cargo ships that crashed in Wakanda (intentionally or unintentionally). If tech from the ships survived the crash, that would help explain the massive underground techno-organic jungle in Wakanda, and how the Wakandans became so much more advanced than the rest of the world ... they were simply reverse engineering tech from their future.
The resurrection of the dead characters could be explained in one of two ways. 1 Either they are the souls of the original people from Earth, who have reincarnated due to some unknown effect of so much vibranium on M23-671A. 2 Or they are the actual originals who will eventually reincarnate on Earth eons after the vibranium "meteor" crashes in Wakanda.
Ur forgetting about the Orishas I hope their Gods play a bigger role in this. Still so much mystery.
@@tmd-w1552 Agreed!
That could be a thing. But they have already kind of addressed some of that
This is like the Black version of Stargate.
Yeah it really is, the more I think about it lol
Big fan of black panther
Same here. That's my dude. I need to do more on him. Cause he's got some of the best stories
This IS it chief.
Wakanda Forever, motherfuckers!!! 🙅🏿♂️
Yes! Please do more Black Panther
I plan to 😁
Wakanda forever
Love this black panther comic.
Coates is writing his ass off on this shit
I'm actually reading this right now. I'm digging it so far
It's a really good run. Coates is on 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks! I fell off this series because it was just so drawn out. I knew it would be good in the end I just could be there during the ride.
Anytime, Prof! Yeah, Coates is better read in one sitting. I mainlined Volume 1 thru 6 in a weekend once.
That was thee : EPITOME OF AWESOMENESS 😊👍
Thank you, Elder Sun!! It was a long time coming, but I finally got to make this video happen 😁
Holy nuts! I was unsure about this book despite being a pretty big Black Panther fan, but I kinda need to read this book now! 😍 Killmonger as king, symbiotes, Achebe being back... Wow that sounds too amazing to pass up!
Coates went all out these last few volumes. Man, i can't recommend Black Panther enough right now. He's been lights out since he started writing BP a couple years back.
Need jump into Black Panther again
It's 🔥🔥🔥
This is the Black star wars we've always wanted. Finally a popular comic about our people in vast and great space opera. They could have made it easier to follow for some of the fans who don't like complex mysteries, but I still feel this comic checks all of the marks of a classic. What I find the most interesting about this comic, is how it mirrors the real life journey and history of the Ne.gro. I thought it was complete nonsense, but I'm a student of true history first and foremost. I cannot deny the evidence of this history.
czcams.com/video/27p9uPYGNjQ/video.html
This is the direction the movie tie ins need to go eventually. However I fear that a space opera, starring Black people, is about 50 years away from hollywoods current sensibilities.
It's definitely a bit more convoluted to read than it probably should have been. But once I got the reveal it was pretty awesome. One day maybe we can see them use this material in the movies. Black sci-fi should be a thing in Hollywood.
There is money to be made. All it require is that the distribution and marketing goes smooth. Places like Asia and Africa are rising market but for now white audience are the biggest cash cow and they won't pay to watch it.
Well I’m going to have to share this with my dad, he LOVES Marvel, he was the main reason I love superheroes, so yeah definitely sharing this with him.
Hell yeah! Let him know they're still out here! And Black Panther has come a long ways. I think he'll love it!
I just caught up to where I left off and the symbiote just resurrected Killmonger. The Wakandan military, the Maroons, Luke Cage, Spectrum, Misty Knight, Storm, and Iron Heart are battling the forces of the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda
Yup, these are things currently. Glad I caught up before i read this lol
I'm soooooooo behind. Just finished reading Rise of the Black Panther and that was awesome. I'll catch up eventually. LOL
It's definitely worth a read. Coates is definitely a slow burn writer, but he always pays it off
Love that comic book. I hope the person who wrote that does more BP comics
I need to get back to this story. It confused me but this breakdown helped
Anytime! Glad it helped. It is definitely worth the read
i stopped reading it after first 5 comics. i was lost. I still know that what T'challa did in Secret wars started this...but never found the connection i needed to understand wtf was going on.
Yeah, this comic is a slow burn read. You don't even get the actual reveal until issue 11 or 12. Coates is better read in trades.
Thank you!!! This book doesn’t get enough coverage on CZcams. Reading Coates’ Black Panther fun from 2016 to today got me back into comics (and now I’m in far too deep lol). I’m currently reading Coates’ The Water Dancer which also plays a lot with themes of colonization and memory. I don’t feel Coates gets enough respect for his Marvel work but I’m here for it.
Same here. Between his Black Panther and Care's Venom, i was literally in too deep lol. Thing about Coates is that he's a slow burn storyteller because he's a novelist and, though some comics fans don't have the patience for it, i think he's REALLY good at making it work for comics. Because when he pays off? He pays the hell off. His Captain America is also woefully underrated. His commentary on African roots, slavery, colonialism, and emancipation are so strong. I'm surprised Marvel let him do as much as he has. But I'm so glad they did.
I have to check this title out. I'm a huge Black Panther fan!
It's worth it. I promise you. Coates opened Black Panther's world up to all kinds of ish.
I stopped reading it around the time T'Challa got back to Earth and that symbiote started making plans for revenge
Yeah that's a thing. N'Jadaka is pretty wild
This one of best Black Panther storylines; glad you’re covering it💯🔥🙅🏾♂️
Anytime, Darnell! I'm slowly working my way back thru it 😁
Just finished this series. It was awesome!
Some Black Panther content...thank you, thank you! I've read these already but I definitely appreciate you going over it, thank you!
Anytime! I'm planning on doing on some more real soon
I've already read all the issues I just hope T'Challa makes peace with all of those other planets that his AF caused pain, and still have resources from planet bast
We can only hope. I'm still behind a few issues. But it's been great so far.
GREAT STORY BROTHER. CANT WAIT TO SEE THE REST
Will be doing more soon 😁
More Empire of Wakanda
I'm planning on it 😉
💚Love this channel!💙
Love you back! Thank you, fam!
Thank you for this one. I was reading it on and off and was a little lost on the story. 👍🏾
Yeah, Coates is a slow burn writer so I had to read the trades to get it all at once. Hope this helped!
This book is incredible. It asks what does a nation owe the people it wronged through the lens of a super heroe's morality. Making a issue people pretend is complicated as simple as children's comic. "Wakanda forever" is being tested. What can be done for the generations of slaves Wakanda has to answer for? T'challa is suddenly responsible for more people than he ever thought and he could ignore it but the noble King goes to work! What a powerful, heroic idea and the best comic of the year so far.
Its true. Not only that but it puts really serious lens on the idea of how colonization works and how the enslaving of a people actually works. There's a ton of nuance. I don't think Coates gets enough credit for the story he's telling here.
@@BlerdWithoutFear 100%. What people are calling slow is him shoring up his argument. The best part is those who complain about comics being "too political" are too dumb to notice Black Panther is making a case for reparations.
If only Chadwick had survived. We may have seen this story on the big screen.
Always dropping bomb ass content
Thanks, fam! 😎
Thank you for this video, until I watched, I didn't what was going on with Black Panther
Glad to help! The book has been really good!
Again E, great video but what happened to the origin of Black Panther at the end of Secret Wars using the time stone to go back telling Wakandans to seek this planet out??
That happened. That's apart of this. That's why I mentioned Secret Wars 😁
WOW!
Its definitely a lot to take in
As soon as I see you I immediately tune in. And once again "do" the comics you want to do. My NINJA.
That is the way 😎 Thank you, fam!
Marvel needs to start hiring writers that actually read comics themselves. It shows
I've been reading this run and so far, I've been enjoying it! Props for this video!
Thank you! Coates has been lights out. I fell behind like hell on it at first but man... So good!
That's interesting! A cat looking symbiot. That should come to cartoon movies & shows plus live action movies.
Mujaji actually written as Modjadji is the First Queen of Rain
In South Africa's Bolobedu tribe
Nice reference
Great video!👍
Thank you, Jae! Glad you liked it! 😁
You know, Amazon told me I should buy this latest issue. You just verified it.
DO IT!!!!!! You will not regret it. Coates is lights out the whole run
Marvel Studios please give us a multiverse T’Challa who is an intergalactic version of Black Panther and have him team up with Spectrum, Capt Marvel and Blue Marvel as an Ultimates team!
Am a big Damisa Sarki fan & I love this run! From the storyline, the pace and the art work is what will make this one a classic ! Also placing Wakanda where it should've always been INTERGALACTIC!
I'm here for it. I love what Coates has done. Since he took over all he's been doing is setting things right. Putting T'Challa and Storm back together. Expanding Wakanda. Putting the Dora Milaje in a better position as their own faction... I'm sad he's leaving after #25
@@BlerdWithoutFear yes wakanda as it should be !
I really wish they would make black panther a superhero who saves the world from super villains.
I tired of reading stories about him dealing with Wakanda . Why can't he live on earth and just save innocent lives every now and then. Just like superman batman and spiderman. I want black panther to be a superhero not a king. That's why the black panther comics don't sale as much. Even the black panther movie was all about Wakanda.
Because he's more than just Batman and Superman... Who are both rather boring.
Art imitating Life 💪🏿
Speak, King!
I'm reading it about to grab the new one this weekend. But it's fire I like the writing and I love the art. So yeah a must read for me. Shuri is bad ass in this also boss level ya dig.
Shuri is getting all her propers in this. I'm here for it! Her, Storm, Okoye, bruh... TOO LIT!
@@BlerdWithoutFear Dog storm is being the omega mutant that we all know her to be. They scared of her. True powerhouse in this series.
OUTSTANDING Actually. ✊
Thank you! I really enjoyed this arc by Coates
I want more, COnfusing but Brilliant
Thank you! I got another one waiting in the wings about N'Jadaka
This is the only black panther story I’ve read. After this video, I feel like I’m missing out on a lot. Any recommended stories I should read or a good staring place?
At the very least go back and read Ta-Nahesi Coates' first run with Black Panther. Here's an Amazon Affiliate link. Full disclosure I get a small kick back if you buy it from that link.
amzn.to/39pUuiL
I was confused about why it seem to take place in the far future and then Storm would show up thanks for the clarification
Anytime! 😉 It was a little confusing to me at first. But I sat down and re-read it and the more I went with it the less weird it was.
Bro I love your videos on Black Characters in comicbooks. Like I've gotten into some obscure black character I wasn't even aware of before I saw them on your channel. Good stuff.
Edit: Ever thought of doing like a video essay of sorts about your thoughts on the depiction and representation of black characters in comicbooks through the years and the state of Black characters in comicbooks now? Because I would jump on that s**t real quick.
Thank you! Glad I was able to get you up to speed on some of these lesser known black characters.
I've been thinking of doing videos like that periodically. I've just been too lazy about doing it. But maybe we can turn that around. Thank you for the idea!
Yeah Coates is hit or miss with me. The whole galactic empire was confusing af not just the story but the overall continuity to it. Last I checked M’baku was dead and Nakia was crazy, so seeing them mind controlled and working alongside T’challa was pretty weird to me. Once around #14 and got them back to earth and currently dealing with Killmonger bonding with some kind of symbiote suit and aligning with new allies which were the villains from “Nation under our feet” run. I did prefer the previous Cates run from “Nation under our feet and “Battle of the old gods” . Love Christopher priest run and the Hudlin run of Black Panther but Coates is meh 😕 for me.
That's fair. It's not for everyone. Coates writes comics the way he writes novels. Same as guys like Ed Brubaker. So it's always going to be a slower read. But that said, it makes more sense when you realize M'Baku & Nakia aren't the original characters. N'Jadaka, too. They just have their names. They even act different.
I wasn’t aware that there was time travel involved
I M reading vicariously through you.
That is fair lol
I have been reading the book month to month i feel like the pacing is bad that's the only problem, I'm gonna reread it all at once and I think it will be way better that way. Still enjoying the story though. Amazing video keep the Black Panther ones coming!!!!
That is one thing I can always say about Coates. His stories are way better read in one sitting. He writes his comics the way he writes his books so it doesn't always translate as well.
What's good my guy? Good video
Thanks, fam!!! Glad ya liked it!
I had to come here and search for a reasonable explanation for some things I didn't understand about this comics. But you solved it for me.
I didn't really know from where N'Jadaka, M'baku and Nakia came from if they were supposed to be dead... They explain N'Jadaka is not the same character but another person who was named like that instead, and you can imagine the same happens with rest... but still is very confusing.
I'm starting Vol.3 and I've liked it all so far.
“Why wakanda in space” cause we was galactic KANGS y’all!!! 😂
Fuck a boat we in SPACE!!!
Kung fu Enthusiasm Kangs? Are you using that term the way Dave Chapelle said or are you using it to be mockingly racist?
Joey Cash what do you want me to be?
Kung fu Enthusiasm Would you have that kind of response if you weren’t using that saying as a meme?🤔
Joey Cash didn’t hear it til the meme
Thank you! I'm going to pick these up now that I understand the timeline. Sounds fucking dope!
It's worth it! Glad to hear you're taking a chance on it!
Ta-Nehisi Coates is an amazing writer! Not just comics, his novels are amazing too. I'll buy pretty much anything that he writes.
He got a fan for life from me. Love his work! His books have really made me think
Couldn't get with the intergalactic kingdom. The Wakandans becoming colonizers?!? Nah!
Sounds like it's about some other Wakandan civilization in another galaxy. I think it's pop culture history to see a black intergalactic empire saga.
I think that's what people miss. The dream was perverted and became something else that T'Challa didn't want. That's simply the setup. The journey is fixing it.
Hombois in outer space 🪐

You clever son of a bitch I didn’t think anybody remembered that show
I feel old as fuck right now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Blerd Without Fear lmao brrrooo I feel ancient “upn” was the shit lol
Kung fu Enthusiasm maaaan.... you remember Roc?
Hey brother, love your channel. Just wanted to clear something up. The Jamaican Maroons didn't escape from the British. They defeated them. Forced them to sign a treaty of surrender and was given their own sovereign territory on the island which remains to this day long before the rest the island won our Independence from the British. The Maroons were early, real life superheros. Lead by a witch queen named Nanny. They defeated the British army using magic and guerilla tactics. A story well worth studying 😉 Blessings and one love 🙏🏽
Thank you! I'm aware of the Maroons' history, I just wasn't planning on spending that much time talking about it. Just a quick "This is what this is, and this is what inspired it" and then out lol. But thank you again for spreading the good word! Blessing, king! ✊🏿
@@BlerdWithoutFear No worries mi bredda! You did your thing and I just added a piece to properly represent! Yeah man, give tanks and one love. Bless 🙏🏽
You saying galaxy instead of solar system really confused me, or am I the one mistaken?
good reivew
Thank you 😁
😎💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥
We back!!!!
Good stuff as always.
Thanks, Eric! 😎🖤✊🏿💥
I'm not going to lie, I stop reading after a few issues. However I still pick up issues when my local comic shop has a sale.
That's fair. Coates' writing style isn't really for everyone. He writes like you write a novel, his typical gig.
Wakanda Empire vs Star Wars Empire who win
Wakanda. Cause the Galactic Empire is babbage as fuck
@@BlerdWithoutFear I need more take on this 👀. Sorry for bring a year late 💪🏿👍🏿
Simular to Hawkworld before that was ruined by DC. I like the sound of this reimaging of Black Panther
Yep! I think Coates really thought it out. I hate what they did with Hawkworld in the end... They went way off the rails. Hopefully this doesn't go that route.
Wakanda plays stelaris
What issue was the one where it was explained WHY he went into space?
#11
Do they have this in a trade yet
Yup. Here's an Amazon Affiliate link
amzn.to/2xcqgBE
I gotta go and read this now. I got super confusing
It makes more sense once you get past Volume 2. They literally do not fully reveal the "why & how" until the final issue of Volume 2, so like issue 11 or 12.
@@BlerdWithoutFear I'm in for a long read then
Could it be that all these characters who once were dead backed up their subconscious to a computer and then got cloned with their subconscious put back in them like the X-Men?
Nope. They are strictly descendants and other people named after the legends of Wakanda on Earth.
No. They are not the same.
This has actually been a really good run and I’m glad Coates brought back the dead characters and made them more likable. Coates run is seriously underrated and I think everybody will enjoy it as a whole once he’s done
I agree. I've been enjoying his work on BP since 2016. It's really good stuff
@@BlerdWithoutFear just finished it... it's garbage.
I've been ok with it so far. I've bought some issues here and there. I obviously need to read the whole series. And that's not a bad thing! Definitely better than a good chunk of the stuff coming out of Marvel to me.
I think what is tripping a lot of people out is that its not reading like a typical Marvel book.
@@BlerdWithoutFear You're probably right. Can't go wrong with Black Panther, though. In Earth, in space....Wherever....He's the man. Definitely going to be one of those books that sells big in trade paperback when the series is over.
SAY WHAAAAAAAAAT?!
🤯🤯🤯🤯
Man. AMAZING! they’re called Maroons? I’m inspired. Nameless? Argh there’s a lot to these names and references.
Coates really went deep with this one. Hit me right in the damn heart
Blerd Without Fear I’ve been really inspired since watching this video man. My brother thank you so much. I always wondered what happened with the intergalactic stuff it’s crazy to think it’s it’s won timeline and essentially multiplied the black panther mythos. Tchalla being nameless and still being this level of hero has assured be he truly is the GOAT because he is that in spirit and essence. An awesome video BLERD WITHOUT FEAR I can’t thank k you enough for bringing this to us. #Kudos and “Tendai Mari”
Space Wakanda Empire vs Shi'ar Empire
Probably Shi'ar. They have more powerful beings behind them
Who else is waiting for the Mothership?
I mean. I can be ready now
I would have no slavery and one thing that makes me think if wakandas is so advanced why the the sword and spires just place weird in a film seen
This story is based off of the story of kiro
I want him to reconcile with Storm but I want it to be beleivable. Make the readers beg for them to get married again.
Well, that is subjective then. Because what's believable to you may not be believable to others... That, and dude... They've been back together since 2016.
@@BlerdWithoutFear good🙂
Is this all canon or nah cuz I’m rly confused
It's canon. Still running right now, too. It's probably weird because it takes place before all the Avengers stuff going on
Going fwd, I hope they begin drawing Black Panther to look like Chadwick B. ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿😭
I thought T’Challa was sent to the future not the past
Nah, the temporal anomaly sent the original crew to the past. If anything. He was in the distant past. But if that were the case the Wakandan empire he found would be in it's infancy. So he was in the present. The anomaly didn't hit him and Manifold
Blerd Without Fear I see. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the original crew’s mission was to discover the source of the vibranium meteor.
Sounds like this story may end with T’Challa inadvertently being the actual cause of the meteor crashing to earth.
Oh my bast they turned t’challa into a slaver
Wait nakia is bad?
She was. The original Nakia was a "scorned" former lover of T'Challa. She used to go by the name Malice. She died in Wakanda Forever #1 or 2 a year or two ago. This Nakia is a whole other character.
What are they to poor to pay them, or were they criminals
I read them all. Love them all. Love Daniel Acuna's artwork. It was only inevitable they went into space.I like how they injected some of the movie stuff into the comics it makes it more interesting. Dying of anticipation to see how it all ends.
Coates did a great job with it. He's gonna be missed after #25
@@BlerdWithoutFear Alot of colonizers don't like it. They said It's boring knock off of Star Wars to me It's amazing. I love Afro Futurism finally black people in space.
mutants coming back from the dead now, Wakanda too? who's next uncle Ben?
You clearly didn't listen lol. No one's back from the dead 🤣🤣🤣
@@BlerdWithoutFear i did listen just keeping you on your toes. lol
I don't think they take black panther serious enough. We will see. There are several ways scripts can be written about black mythical comic power. But of course the nay sayers will say, black people don't do that. That's unrealistic... REALLY! It's a Damn movie Haters. Let us have our fantasies
Wakanda is in space because it’s the only place blacker than Africa.
Get out...
Too complicated
Not really. But sure.
