    No need for a level, measure down from the overhang on each end of the wall and snap a line. That way your last piece at the top will be the same width. If not, the job will not look good even from the road. TIP: If it looks level, it is level.

    Thank you for this video. May I ask what nails I should use for the siding installation on the 1/2-inch ODSB wall? The siding nails in Home Depot are 2-1/2 and 2 1/4 inches loos too long for me. Also how far the window or the door must stick out from the wall? And may I ask you how much the window has to stick out of the ODSB board to allow proper matching with the J-channel?

      There is a tool that you can use to remove a row of siding. Look up malco srt2. Remove, replace and reattach. Goodluck.

    This video must be intended for people with some J-channel experience. Over the years I have done many home repairs but have never touched vinyl siding. Your video was going along OK for me until you got to about 3:04 and started talking about corner posts. I had no idea what you were talking about, went way too fast and left me stranded. I tried watching it two more times, din't understand it so gave up on the rest of the video. Please slow down. Also, I own many tools but have no idea what a zip-lock tool is.

    Hi is vinyl sliding good for concrete walls?

    • @dustyniederriter7543
      @dustyniederriter7543 Před 3 lety

      You will have to add one by’s by tap conning them to the concrete wall every 16” or closer so you can nail the siding to the wall. I guess you could use tap cons to fasten but they are a bit expensive vs. nails.

    This is a good video. However vinyl cladding is rubbish for noise reduction. I live in a fibro near a train line and the vinyl cladding should never have been put on. Its like a plastic bag around your house. It has zero sound blocking characteristics. Its just good for deflecting rain and appearance.
