Jeven Dovey thanks for your videos. Very much needed and helpful. Question for you: do you have to have that cord to plug into the remote and your phone or can you go without it? Also, do you have to have the micro SD card as well in order to fly? I’m planning on getting these both. But want to make sure if I have to get these first before I fly or if I can get away with flying without them a couple times. Thanks

I was given a Spark Fly More combo as a birthday gift. I was super excited to start learning how to fly... After maybe 4 hours (!!!) of resetting things, reading the (extremely lacking) user guide and swearing and... Well I STILL have not been able to get things working... Just stumbled on this and the first video. Man, there are so many things that aren't even MENTIONED on the guides, no wonder the thing is notoriously difficult to get started with for new owners.
Anyway, after watching your videos I feel like I should be able to actually connect everything and maybe even take off for the first time tomorrow... Thanks!

I'd love a trip learning about Adventure Filmmaking. I'm a podcaster/radio host who makes videos to supplement my on air time. I'm not booking jobs per say, but I record & edit on a pretty regular basis. I'd love a trip like yours just to see your daily process on content creation from start to finish. I just got my Spark Fly More Combo 2 days ago. I have read every page of the user manual (51pages) I didn't see anything about connecting a USB cable from phone to controller. If you don't have a data plan on your phone then I understand would need it. But I've flown my Spark outside 3 times and don't have to use that ugly USB to lightning connection. I totally don't get why you did that. Explain please. I give the video thumbs up, but I'm mystified about that cable.

Dude, understand this is not an attack on your vid.
    Merely a suggestion.
At about 10 mins you refer to moving both sticks inward regarding motor start (and start)
To the newb not watching, they may miss the additional requirement to move said sticks downwards, to the stop, in additional to placing them full travel out or in. This is one of the most common utube vid oops.
I wish I could connect directly with publishers with my observations regarding their work, as posting this kind of thing baits flame throws.

This video was really helpful. I’ve been having issues getting the controller to work properly but I think that it was user error. Great video, thanks.

Just a comment...I like the palm take off but I learned after a lot of frustration that you can't access the video camera even with the controller if you use that take off method..I have never seen that noted :(

Quick Question: I just received my remote control (purchased separately) and went through the pairing process etc. successfully. I believe you said there was no cable included with the remote control to connect the remote control to your phone (Android, in my case), and that makes sense since I don't see. BUT, my question is: Do you 100% need the cable to be connected to the phone and the remote during flight if you want to use the remote control? Because I was just able to cradle my phone in the remote control, without a cable, take off, and use the remote control to control the drone. Nothing seemed impacted by not connecting the phone to the remote control via cable, but is there some loss in functionality or something, that i just didn't notice? Or is the cable connection optional? And, which kind of cable is it? Micro USB-->Micro USB? Also, do you have any tutorials on the "Return to Home" feature? I want to understand it fully before attempting to use it. I've had inconsistent results with it, like once when I initiated it, the drone was "within 20 feet" from take off so it just landed right where it was (hovering over a fence), but luckily I was able to abort the landing before it hit it. Thanks. Great content!!!

Same here, I didn't need the cable to be connected to the remote 🧐

You dont need the cable, but it helps avoid signal issues. Personally i fly without it, i just set my phone into airplane mode and then connect to the spark rc wifi
Edit: auto lamd will work normaly when your more then 30m away i belive? If your to close itle just land like youve been seeing

Thanks for the vid, I just got the Spark and controller separately, are the steps below in the correct order? Please advise, thanks!
    1) Fully charge Spark and controller
    2) Connect Spark to Phone via wifi for activation and initial set up
    3) Connect Controller to Phone via wifi
    4) Connect Controller to Spark
    5) Calibration and start flying
    Question:
When using the controller to fly, does the phone still need to connect wifi to both controller and the spark? If no wifi connection needed for the Spark, how do i turn it off? Thanks again !

Great video. One follow up question, you discussed connecting to the controller wifi in the setup, but during the actual startup procedure you omitted it for the cable. I have an android phone with a cable, but if I'm connected via wifi, the cable for? I cannot connect directly to the controllers via the cable, only wifi. But without knowing what the cable does I dont know if o need to troubleshoot that. Do I need both?

Thanks very helpful. When I connect RC to mobile by cable I do not get battery details - remains blank. It all works on WiFi connection. Any ideas? Is it the cable type?

  • @guitarsmotorcycles8606

The OTG connector you showed works great I tried it, but for some reason the micro USB to micro USB cable that they sell on Ebay doesn't work at all.

I have my controller, android phone, and aircraft connected via WiFi and do not use an OTG cable and everything works great. Why do you use an OTG cable instead of WiFi????

Out of the box and you've purchased the fly more bundle...setting up the app on the phone and connecting to spark is the first thing you do before touching the controller? Just verifying. thanks

So you need to connect the controller to the phone by micro usb cable? It doesn't connect wirelessly?
