- This video shares the story of General Evangeline Booth, the daughter of William and Catherine Booth, the founders of The Salvation Army. Evangeline was the first woman General in The Salvation Army, the National Commander in the United States for the first three decades of the 20th century. Evangeline was noted for "romancing" Salvationism - utilizing every tool at her disposal from politics, business, the entertainment industry - all to see men and women, boys and girls saved by grace. A stellar leader, preacher, evangelist, social reformer, philanthropist, etc.; Evangeline blazed trails as diverse as prohibition, supporting military troops to moving all resources to help the people of San Francisco following the devastating earthquake which destroyed much of that city. All of this was done "for the glory of God and the salvation of souls." Nothing summarizes her better than her song, "The world for God - I give my heart. I'll do my part."
Much thanks to Transmission, who gave permission for the use of their song, "The World for God". To listen to or purchase their music, go to: www.transmission.virb.com
