The easiest way to do it is by temporarily using your dad's monitor. Boot it up and change the resolution to 1280 x 1024. Do not yet press "OK" but press the "Advanced" button first. Here you'll find various extra settings and one of them is the refresh frequency. Set it to 60 Hz. and press "OK." Now shutdown Windows and start it up with your own monitor. This should definitely work.
If possible, plug into a high resolution display such as a LCD/ Flat Screen television via VGA. This temporary display should work. Next, change the resolution to the settings on the error message (in this case 1280x1024 60hz) by right clicking and clicking on [Properties] or [Personalize] and then [Display settings]. Adjust the resolution on the slider or similar. Hope this is is helpful.
While window start up press F8 n select reboot n again press F8 select Enable VGA Mode then window will start automatically then, in notification bar there will be warning about resolution Select it n do it automatic detect.. that's it.
Thanks for the video. I have a Samsung SyncMaster 913v. All it took to get it working again was a complete power cycle. Turn off computer, unplug monitor from power source (I unplugged it right at the monitor) and plug it back in.
Thanks, I contacted Samsung and got a replacement (still within 3 year warranty) and it seems to be working fine. It's always better to find it to be a hardware problem with the monitor only, and not the computer itself!
OH THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!! I thought OH NO......NOT AGAIN!! I have installed Windows XP about 5 times. Tried to do clean install to Windows 7 so many times I cannot count. I just got everything readY to upgrade to Windows 10 and then this happened! It worked as at 25th July 2016. I unplugged mine from the extension lead. It worked!! I can't believe it..... THANK YOU!
I fixed it by using dual monitor, on the non-Samsung computer: display=>choose Samsung monitor=>Display adapter properties=>List All Modes=>choose the right resolution and Hertz that same as recommended mode of the Samsung computer, done!
I had this problem. I bought the monitor 36+7 months ago (i.e. It is out of warranty) I contacted Samsung. They directed me to a repair firm The repair firm quoted around £100 Monitor is down the dump I have a new (non-Samsung) monitor
My mom just had this problem with her monitor (same flat Samsung monitor) after accidentally hitting some keys. I couldn't even get the F8 to do anything. But I took somone else's advice and unplugged the monitor (not from the computer, but from the power outlet) and replugged it again. And it worked like normal after that.
I think the computer is OK! Just try another monitor with the computer and you will find out. You can also try the same monitor with another computer and see. Exchanging monitors with a friend might help identify the culprit!
just go into safe mode and configure your monitor settings to the optimum recommended settings. Its probably showing that everytime u try going into windows bcoz u got it set at a higher resolution or refresh rate. just put it lower and it should work.
People, you don't have anything to do with your registry, safe mode etc... JUST BUY DVI digital cable if your monitor and graphic card have the white input.. All problems will be fixed 100%. TRY THIS, IT HELPS..
i know this video is old, but if people have this problem do this :press f8 before logon screen to get into safe mode, login, right click desktop, properties, and change the resolution to whatever the monitor prev asked (in this case 1280x1024 60hz), then reboot the machine. It will then work
when you unplug the monitor from electricity, its settings are reset I think. The rest of the instructions are for changing the Windows settings. Or maybe I don't understand your question
Just on the PC with safe mode and have the changes in resolution and try it .. If it didn't work too come to the same place and just get your system restore ... Fix the point and you will get the bug fixed !!
Sorry maybe a duplicate message.. To clear this error. I downloaded the latest driver from Samsung for my Model. After the install or if you already have it installed. Right click on the Desktop and select the Graphics Settings. Find the Hertz Drop down bar in the option and set it to 60 Hertz and submit or apply the change. That should clear the issue.
I had the same problem after I changed the resolution. I am not saying you have the same problem as I did. I unplug the power cord from the monitor then crossed the left terminal with the third ground prong then did the same thing with with the right one. Then plugged it in and it worked like normal.Hope it works for you too. Terry
simply press f8 before windows starts up then choose the video login. Login to your desktop and set the right resolution from there and restart. it should work afterwards

Follow steps in sequence: 1. Turn Off Monitor by pressing power button on LCD 2. Shut down computer 3. Unplug power cable from LCD, Once power cable is unplugged from LCD, press and hold down the power button on LCD for 15 seconds 4. Don't just use windows default driver for your monitor. Download syncmaster that is appropriate with the model of your monitor to update your monitor driver. Mine is syncmaster model 740NW or SM740NW. You can find the model at the back of your monitor.
It is the problem with the monitor. The "Logic Board" has got corrupted and replacing it is the only solution. If your monitor is under warranty period (3 yrs from the date of purchase) then you can call up Samsung service centre and they will replace it. Hope you get your problem solved. And yes, some good news...your computer is perfectly ok!

Solution: 1. restart 2. F8 to get boot options 3. Enable VGA/Enter VGA mode. It will go to your lowest setting, and you can set the desired resolution after that. Solved the problem for me. The above resolutionX thing didnt work for me.

hi, if you have set 1680x1050 and your display gives the same "not optimum mode" error, then you need to set it back to 1024x768 (following the instructions i wrote) in order to be able to start windows normally. If you are asking me how to set 1680x1050 directly in the registry: 1. Better don't do it :) 2. Here are your sizes in hex numbers 1680=0x690 1050=0x41A.
its impossible to put the resolution at 1280 x 1024 with 60 hz. In any case you must put 70 HZ , then the display properties gives you the possibility to put 1280 x 1024 . WHAT DA FUCK IS THIS? definitely is this a monitor ERROR ?? thanks
im trying to run just cause 2, but I get a black screen saying "1: auto detect (analog input) cannot display this video mode optimum resolution 1680x1050 60Hz what do i do, I try changing the steam properties of the game to -w 1680 then -h 1050 but it doesnt work, I changed my computer res. and that didnt work, then i tried changing my video mode, still nothing, then as a last resort I tried redownloading it, nothing. Please help... I need my $15 worth of game... and I cant get it...
just press alt+enter then it will go into windowed mode, change the resolution :D however this didnt work for my stalker:call of pripyat :'(,above worked for my just cause 2

+Lizard Gandalf How did you solve it on Windows 10? I cannot figure it out..
How!?
how?
hi, if you have set 1680x1050 and your display gives the same "not optimum mode" error, then you need to set it back to 1024x768 (following the instructions i wrote) in order to be able to start windows normally.
If you are asking me how to set 1680x1050 directly in the registry:
1. Better don't do it :)
2. Here are your sizes in hex numbers 1680=0x690 1050=0x41A.
It worked for me. THANKS for taking the time to help.
u have to set your resolution to 1280 x 1024 to use
I have too this error :/
I restart my computer and monitor but this not help :/
Thanks bro It worked for me
Oh! by the way, IMed tech support person. NO HELP THERE. He thought I was talking about a tv at first. Then still was NO HELP.
WHERE DO I FIND THE DRIVER FOR DOWNLOAD? I DID F8 AND IT'S IN VGA MODE, NOW WHERE DO I GET THE DRIVER UPDATE? PLZ HELP
Wow... This works!!! Thanks!!!
What if the keyboard does not work, it doesn`t "turn on" there is an explication ??? or something that can be done on the PC, or i don`t know ¡¡¡¡¡
its impossible to put the resolution at 1280 x 1024 with 60 hz. In any case you must put 70 HZ , then the display properties gives you the possibility to put 1280 x 1024 . WHAT DA FUCK IS THIS? definitely is this a monitor ERROR ?? thanks
