This movie made me, a 16 year old, realise two things.
    1. How massive this win was. It literally gave an identity to a nation and that is no freaking joke. It made us prouder as Indians. It gave us a pedestal to stand on globally. It gave us a seat at the high table. Cricket is massive today in India. It is a sport that has an almost guaranteed successful career. And that's a huge deal. That was possible because of these guys. I once heard someone say that cricket and cinema are two of the most influential entities in India. While cinema gained its influence over many decades. Cricket went from 0 to 100 in one world cup because of these guys.
    2. What an absolute revolution hardwork and determination can bring about. These guys winning the world cup in 83 would be equivalent to India's team winning the Fifa world cup today. They had no facilities and no one gunning for them, not even their own countrymen. It was just them. A handful of players and they rocked the nation. It shows me that we can either make excuses for our situations or kick their ass so hard we change the trajectory of the nation.
I was born 23 years after this world cup but this movie made me not only aware of what this world cup did but feel it. Mind you those are two very different things. It made me a person in absolute and complete awe of the living legends, the epic dieties that were the Indian cricket team of 1983 and feel indebted to them for what they did for the identity of the nation with their only incentive being patriotism.
Hats off Kabir Khan, Ranveer Singh and the team of '83.
Take a bow, the legends, the icons, the winners of the 1983 world cup.

Same here, and to watch the movie in the hall with my parents was just an icing on the cake .. many goosebumps moments and amazing casting! I feel 2007 T20 WC would make a better movie, going into 2011 WC India were strong favourites plus they had home ground advantage. But 2007, we were coming of a horrible WC and no one expected a young team led by a young captain with no prior experience, another true underdog story and another chapter which changed Indian cricket forever with T20 cricket becoming a prominent feature in our landscape.

bhai... ind vs zim.. the iconic match is explained differently in kapil sir's own book, dont know how and when this story of him going for a shower came in... it was surprising to see this as well as thoda dukh hota hai ki ab sach thoda side kr diya jata h
