It’s play on words:
Metal + Matsuri (Festival) = Metal Festival.
Mash them together = Metari, or in “english”, Metali
But don’t worry, a lot of us messed this up haha. I’m not Japanese, but learned through other comments.

Another BM fan reactor who skip the official premiere of this yesterday and having a great timing waiting for this MV, nice!
We got another banger for Japanese festival or any festival around, can't wait for this to be played at Aftershock or Louder Than Life and see the crowd.
It's their first song released with this new BM reborn and formation.
Some of us already heard this yesterday because they premiere this at Apocrypha - Another One show, and someone leaked this on a fancam, it's all good, it was a blast and really unexpected but everyone was having a blast and even started with a Kami Band solo after a while without it.
Just so you know "wasshoi" is another shout used in Japanese festival when carry the shrines, similar to sore and soya you heard in Megitsune.
I can totally see why they pick Tom Morello on this, the groove, the catchiness, the super energetic jump and those typical 90's vibes at funk or alternative metal live concerts.

Apparently Tom just happens to be a big fan of Babymetal and had got in touch with them about maybe working together,always did say he has great taste in music and him detuning and killing his axe at the end was awesome.
Some lucky Americans around the LA area might just get a surprise guest at the gigs where i am pretty sure they will let him rip that axe as much as he wants as this song has potential to be turned into a 8-9 minute live song that is going to have the crowd going mental.

You don't know what to expect, in this only thing we expected was: traditional Japanese elements (based on Japanese name of the song and visual elements) and the Tom's guitar of course and we got that for sure. 🙂
Yes, the part in the middle after the more quiet part has a LOT going on. Maybe to much maybe needed a different mix.. I'm certain it will be more clear live ?

Their album Metal Galaxy had about 7 features in it. Including Sabaton, Tim Hensen, Alissa White-Gluz. Tom Morello is probably their biggest to date.
This song certainly surpassed my expectations. So happy for Momoko and for me this is the BabyMetal, that first caught my attention in 2014.

This song was MADE for crowd participation and flash mobs lol. Sooooo much energy. I can see the girls having the best time of their lives performing this. Smiling every second of it too. I can't wait to see this LIVE. I got a taste of it from a leaked video and it was wild. Momometal even added a growl after the spoken parts. And it was confirmed by Flugelhornoldman who was THERE, that is was Momometal growling the words "Are you ready?!" 🤘🦊🤘

The release of the MV is today, the song yesterday and first live performance was 2 days ago.
Yava!!! Babymetal does love to surprise their fans. If they ever get to perform this live together. It will be amazing. Made wonder if they're going to be at any music festivals together. Tom said he wanted to do this for a long time as he's been a fan of theirs. Having him on screen in the back is similar to what they did singer from Sabaton. which tells me that from now on we can expect to see that played on their giant screen they use for their shows. Video walls, gotta love them. This is extra cool because it feels like it brought back more of that fun and excitement of their older songs. And they performed this song live before the music video came out. Making me wonder what choreography did they do? When Distortion was first done, they didn't have choreography for it and Su just freely moved on stage. I wonder what they did for this song. From the fans who were there we know that all three of them performed it. And some have said that Momoko got a solo dance section during this song. Yava!!! again that is a first for them as well. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises
Not sure, maybe you aren't aware, but Babymetal actually does collabs I'd say fairly often. That being said, I totally agree with you that their collabs are fun... for the most part. Personally I don't like the Lil Uzi one, but that's a personal preference, I know people who love it and I'm happy for them. Regardless of whether I like it or not, I'm happy it was done as it brings people from different genre's into the fold of perhaps giving Babymetal a chance, which I think is always a good thing.

この曲は日本の祭りの形の１つである"盆踊り"の為の曲だと思います。その祭りは小さい子供からお年寄りまで大きなステージを中心に輪になって踊る物です。まるでサークルモッシュのように！だいたい夏に行われる行事です。想像してみて下さい。幼稚園の子供から老人ホームのお年寄りが一緒になってメタルの曲を踊る？！狂ってますよね😊この曲はその盆踊りに絶対使われるような曲です！
ウソを付くもんじゃない。時節柄盆踊りと結び付けたがる気持ちは理解できるが、歌詞もリズムもメロディも振り付けも何の関係もない、正反対だ。盆踊り自体を知らないか、他の行事との区別ができないでコメントしているだろう―ワッショイやドッコイショなんて囃子言葉を盆で使うか？神輿を担いで激しく練り歩いたり、「同じアホなら踊らにゃソンソン」みたいな別のタイプのお祭りソングだよ。

There are similarities with Megitsune, but also quite different from it. I personally loved it.
Great reaction!!! After I first heard this song, I was trying to imagine what their video & choreography would look like and I have to say, I'm not disappointed.
If you like the opening, you will probably like Bloodywood (Indian Folk Metal). The opening sounds exactly like their song Gaddaar, almost to the point of it being simply ripped from that song.
