You could try soaking the containers in baking soda water over night. I ferment sauerkraut and a few of my containers do the same. It's not the glass it's the lid.
I put used coffee grounds in stinky kimchi containers and let it soak, the coffee absorbs the stink pretty well. And a small bowl of ground coffee in the fridge works better than baking soda for the smelly kimchi fridge.

It might not work with gelatin. The Japanese crystal candy used agaragar powder to get the crunchy outsides. Jello/ gelatin just shrinks. 😢 Now if adding a lot of gelatin she could make finger Jello. Sorry Im a food nerd.
Good luck! I’ve made crystal candy just by putting a stick in the sugar syrup and letting it dry out. Your recipe looks more like jello. Maybe I don’t understand what you’re making so hopefully it works out!

You should store your containers without the lids so they can air out. That helps prevent them from smelling like whatever was last stored in them.

You'll need so much more sugar to get the brittle crunchy outside , look up "Mr and Mrs Shi" , Mrs Shi had made crystal candies with a similar method
