For example, you may look good in dark silver coloured jewelery, while others would look more good in a light silver, white goldish coloured jewelry. It really depends on the depth of the colour of your skin tone and undertone as well. Hope this helps. ❤

    Thank you for talking about neutral skin tone. I have an art background; so I understand warm and cool colors. I’ve tried to fit myself into either a Dark Winter or Dark Autumn box. Neither works. Colors at the extreme of either pallet just don’t work. I can’t go too cool or too warm. Veins are teal, and gold and silver both work. So undertone really is on a continuum. I would like to see some videos about neutral undertones as most color “experts” do not subscribe to the idea of neutral.

      This! I keep thinking I’m losing my mind bc I have to mix from both types. I’m safer with cooler, but some cool is still TOO cool, and if I happen to get a tan, all bets are off and everything has to change again. I remember having different foundations that leaned cooler or warmer based on the season bc that’s how dramatic the change was from summer to winter if I tanned a little. (I’m probably a fair-skinned neutral.)

    This is a brilliant video. Years ago, I had my colors done & found I had a "Spring" & slightly "Autumn" palette. I had a foundation mixed for me & was given a palette of fabric samples to use when shopping for clothes. If you wear the correct color, you will never have a bad skin day. Some whites work, but not all. Basically, I had fair skin with warm undertones. Even my hair color looked better. I remember my mom, who was an artist & dress maker, would drape fabric across me, close to my face, to choose a fabric when she was making me a dress or coat, etc. She knew what she was doing & I use to get irritated when I had to walk around as she determined the best color for me. I paid $$$ to find out what she had already taught me. Thankfully, I got to apologize to her. Great video.

    This is SO important for looking and feeling good. I was told I had warm undertones in my 30s and tried to make those colors fit all my life. At 64 I was feeling frumpy, tired, and unattractive. My neighbor always looks 'put together' even in work clothes. So I went for another analysis and was shown clearly that I was 'pink' or cool undertones. Wow, did my life change. I'm told I "look comfortable in my own skin, that I look "like myself". And I FEEL 'like myself' for the first time in years. I've changed my hair color, also. For me, it's worth every penny.

    • @Asptuber
      @Asptuber Před 7 lety +4

      Indeed. Just playing around with Justine's tips I noticed that I am not "in the middle", but both. Having done stuff like this (just a little bit, and with far less knowledge of colour theory than I have now) ~25-30 years ago as a teenager I got both confused *and* vindicated in my later empirical discoveries that I can indeed look good in warmer colours. Slowly going from cool/red/blue to warm/yellow/orange.
      But it seems to be in fits and spurts. Maybe depending on health and mood?
      And when it comes to what actually flatters you, I think you can influence that a whole lot with make up and hair colour (and also accent colours and combinations). I have some clothes that I now absolutely shouldn't wear without makeup. And some clothes that I couldn't wear without make up when I was younger.
      And just when I think about jewellery (of which I wear very little anyway), I've gone from wearing gold only if really made up and dressed to the teeth, and rarely at that, to silver now being "difficult" and needing all kinds of small adjustments not to look out of place and just wrong.

I'm pale blue-eyed central european living in Italy and after years being here, I became more tanned. this is my uncertainty: silver and light grey and light cold blue looks best on me, but have orange undertone... according to the app... so I struggle to find the best non-neutral colours for my capsule. shall I go cool or warm?

      Johanna Steuer You sound neutral or beige. I'm exactly like you except that gold actually looks better on me than silver, although I wear silver the most. I find that mineral foundations like Alima Pure have perfect shade matches for neutral, beige, cool, olive, and warm skin types. I'm a beige 3 in their foundation and it's a perfect match. Neutral in their shade range works for me, but it's often just a touch too cool.

    Sometimes the shade of gold makes a difference. Gold from India and Pakistan can be very yellow, and may not look good with moderately warm Caucasian skin. Gold with a slightly rose tint, on the other hand, looks fabulous. I am guessing that the traditional very yellow gold is common because it looks fabulous on the skin tones common in that part of the world.

      @gorzkawodka Před 5 lety +6

      The gold is a permaloj of pure gold and some other metal so the colour of the final golden product depends on what was added to the plain gold. If it's copper then it will be pink gold, if it's silver it will be yellow gold, if it's more silver it will be white gold. If a golden ring or necklace or whatever looks dusty and kind of grey it means there's only 37,5 % of pure gold in it (yellow or pink, doesn't matter). Honestly the popularity of a certain colour isn't related with fashion or matching anybody's skin tone, it's based on natural resources of a country and economy, for example in Russia they have a lot of copper and only a little silver so Russian gold usually is pink.

    Wow I am actually mindblown: I have Always thought I had warm undertone, because my veins were mostly Green (but more like a turquoise) and bcos I have a bronzed golden skin tone (quite fair for a pakistani actually). But my favorite color is teal and I love wearing baby blue, it brings out the golden warm tone of my skintone and the same thing happens when I Wear orange-red sweater. Hence i appear healthier and more tanned (some yellow green and bright orange do make me look a bit paler in Winter but I don't think I Can Say i have cool tone from that) So imagine my surprise when you said warm undertone should avoid pale blues !! I realize when it Comes to lipstick colors, indeed cool ones make me look like nicki Minaj (read, clearly the color is too cool for my skin tone). I don't even look at silver jewellery since I believe I have warm undertone. But Now that I realize that I Can (and Always have with colorful pakistani suits or western clothing) basically wear pale pink, any blue Shade, any green...( Just not some pale beige in winter)... This opens so many possibilities. I should try again silver jewellery !! I must be neutral or just very lucky. Thank you for your rich explaination, the examples made it more complete than most videos about this theme.
