FIRST TIME Skiing - Levi Ski Resort (Lapland, Finland)

- It is Jenny's first time skiing and there isn't a better place to start than Levi Ski Resort in Lapland, Finland. Jacob will be teaching everything he knows, so hopefully Jenny can master the beginner hill by the end of the day. Unfortunately, when we went, there wasn't enough snow to try out the difficult runs, but it was perfect for a beginner.

We hope you will follow along on our journey and that we can inspire you to travel in your own country or around the world!

From arrogance to false confidence to a humble reality check, this outing could not be more relatable!! You did great!
We are so glad you enjoyed it!! And thank you so much :)
Jenny you were sooo brave!!! He should’ve had you follow him though. But man you did awesome 🎉
@flasht75 thank you so so much ♥️
She did a very good job for a first timer. I have seen way worst performances. 👍👍👍 And her red cheeks afterwards are so cute. 😄
Thank you so much!! :) I thought I was going to be a lot worse so I am thankful I only fell a few times! Hahaha! Thank you for watching :)
Literally our favorite video you've ever made! Great job Jenny! Jacob is a great teacher!
Ahhh that makes us so happy!! Thanks guys! And thank you for watching too :)
This is nearly identical to my first skiing experience in Saariselka (North East of Levi) 2 years ago, aged 47 😄 blizzard white out terror at the top of my first run after a few hours on the kiddie learner slope. I could literally feel the tense feeling in my thighs, calves, and back watching you remembering what it was like desperately trying to control the speed and turns. Great effort 👍🏻😁 we're off to Levi in February. Thanks for the video.
Oh no! That is scary and for sure it was the worst part! Glad I am not the only one that had that experience! Enjoy your time in Levi :) and thank you for watching!
Love how adventurous you both are🙌🏼🔥🙌🏼
Thank you so much!! That is so encouraging ♥️
Surely the first thing to learn is to learn to fall without hurting yourself. I have seen situations where some has been going down a slope even having some control of direction, but being unable to stop or fall safely. Crashing into something because you don't have breaks and can't even handle safe falling is not a good start.
I would start first day from falling and breaking speed. It's not so fun way to start, but safety first.
You are so right!! Falling correctly is so important! Thank you for watching :)
YOU GO JENNY! Jacob you're a pro! Weaving in and out if trees. Those feet rests seem essential on the chair lift. Jacob is a great teacher. We wouldn't make it past the parking lot with skis on. Side runs don't count! Great video!
I honestly had so much fun watching the videos of Jacob on the big run since I couldn't do them!! Jacob was the best coach!! Thank you for watching friends :)
Wow that was actually really good😊
Thank you so much 🥳
Great Job Jenny. I have definitely cried on a couple of slopes before! and I HATE not being able to see like that. Heading to Levi to ski in 5 weeks, you guys making me so excited to get there! :)
It was truly so scary not being able to see! Haha! Glad I am not alone with that♥️ Have so much fun skiing!!
I just started skiing a year ago so I can totally relate to being terrified on your first try 😅
Truly so scary on the first big hill!! And there is no other way down, that is the worst part😂
I just got back from Finland (Rovaniemi and utsjoki) - I have been loving your videos! I am going skiing in park city next month and I'm new to it too, super excited though!
Oh my gosh that is awesome!! Isn't it just the most beautiful place? And Park City is gorgeous! Jacob grew up skiing there every year and loved it. Enjoy your trip there :)
watching this because i havent skied in 4 years but next week im teaching two of my friends how to ski TvT both of you did a great job!! gonna steal inspo from your video 😁❤
I hope it inspires you!! Thanks so much for watching and good luck ♥️
I skied for the first time yesterday and I love it 😻 🎉totally wanna try it again!
It is so fun!! We are so happy to hear you had a great time!! Thanks for watching :)
I`m so happy that you got to go on that hill! I like that specific slope, Enjoy!
It is definitely a great slope!! We really enjoyed it once we knew the course🙌🏼 Thank you for watching :)
He's a keeper if he carries your ski's to the hill :)
I totally agree!! 🙌🏼 Thank you for watching :)
Great job skiing Jenny. Jacob looks like a pro!!
Thank you Sonja!! Jacob is so good!🙌🏼
Both of you are adventurous and can face challenges.skiing video was fantastic
Thank you so much for your kind words :) we truly appreciate them!
You both are Professional!!!
Hahaha I still have a long way to go but Jacob is totally a pro!! Thank you for watching :)
You`re doing great, Jenny!
Thank you so much Peter :)
Great job! I worked there, snow cannons blasting, icy, no idea if going up or down and on snowmobiles, it was fun
Thank you and what a fun place to work! I bet it was awesome!
@@JacobandJennyTravel sometimes good, sometimes s***
We are so proud! :) yay
Yay thank you so much ♥️
Очень широкие учебные трассы, с крытым траволатором. Это очень хорошо! Прекрасные ели и природа. 6местные подъёмники тоже хороши, плохо что без экрана - на сиденьях снег. Хорошего и безопасного катания! Have a fun!=))
It is such a beautiful place and we had a great time skiing!! Thanks so much for your comment :) have a great day!
well done jenny and jacob great video . from mick in the uk,
Thank you so much Mick! We really appreciate you watching :) we hope you will continue to enjoy our videos!
That's very impressive for a first-timer! Our only problem with Levi when we were there (we stayed in the grey apartment block behind you @0:58) was the lack of any blue slopes on the front slopes, so we had to do the same as you and take the bus out to South Point. By the way, there's a little slope with a button lift between Kids' Land at South Slope and the chairlift you went on that would probably have been better to do before trying the blue slope - it's longer than the Kids' Land runs, but less demanding than the blue.
And I'm thinking that blue slope was 8.3 - I did that in what were almost blizzard conditions and it felt like my legs were going to go on fire by the time I got to the end of it, so I can well understand how Jenny felt!
Thank you so much!! Yes we agree it would have been nice to have blue slopes on the front slops!! Wow! I am glad you can relate with me! Haha! Thanks for watching :)
That is exactly how I was the 1st time except my husband left me when we chose the 2nd bedinner trail so I got scared because I couldn't see and sat down the mountain but I had a ball and And can't wait to go back, go Jenny you rocked
It is so scary when you can't see! I totally feel you!! Thank you for your encouraging words!! And thank you for watching :)
You both did awesome! The fact that Jacob could film so much while skiing is impressive. How is you hair doing since Iceland?
Thanks Jess!! I was so impressed with Jacobs skiing! I had never seen him ski before! It is SO MUCH BETTER. It took a few weeks and lots of conditioner but it is back to normal now!
I can’t believe I watched the whole video by the end I liked Jenny.
I am glad to hear that!! Thank you so much for watching :)
Impressive, only fell once. Good job.
Thank you so much!! I honestly thought I was going to be falling the entire time hahaha!!
I recommend trying the G2 route!
Fun and easy for beginners
Great tip! Thanks for sharing :)
I'm so proud of you Jenny! The fist runs are the worst. Next time on better weather, relax and enjoy! You can!
Thank you so much :) the first run was definitley the scariest!! But I am glad I pushed through and got to do some fun ones too! But yes, I am hoping for better weather next time 🙌🏼 thanks for watching!!
Good job !!.
Thank you so much :)
♥ WOW Jenny!!
Thank you so, so much♥️
@@JacobandJennyTravel ♥
nice video, a lot fun :)
We had a great time!! Thank you so much for watching :)
Nice ❤️❤️
Thank you so much♥️
You could have taken the Glacier Express lift up, then go down to the lift 14 and from their goes a route to Gondola and then to the top. There is an easy piste to South slopes =)
Thanks for that great information :)
I also took my wife (looks like jenny and actually personality seems about the the same aswell😅) to lapland to do some downhill skiing. But i propably fked that up by parking our car right under the blackhill, so basically, the last hill we were about to take, had to be that black (most difficult hill) . life time trauma for her, after otherwise such a great day, and ever since we havent gone downhill skiing with her😄 and that happened 10y ago🙃 great job from jenny developing so quickly, and jacob being so supportive!
Hahaha oh no that is such a crazy/funny story!! I would be traumatized too😂 Thanks for your comment!!
That bigger hill is one of the smallest routes in Levi. You should test worlc Cup rail. Its awesome.
Thanks for that great tip!! We will look it up!
Please, no Levi black runs. You will not enjoy it. Stay in the slopes near South point, they're pretty much the best for you guys. If you want to try the gondola, you can buy tickets and head to the top without skis. Trying downhill sking and Levi black would be fantastic to watch - however not fun to experience. 🙃
Guiding beginners to G2 should be attempted murder, you wont come down that slope without broken legs if you dont know how to ski
I mean, I cried when I learnt to ski at the age of 9 (out of sheer terror). And this in comparison is child's play. I used to do the forest trails at 11-12.
The last I did was the black slopes at Ylläs and Levi pretty much faster than anybody else of the recreational skiers. (I had a male skier come on the same lift who had tried to keep after me and swore me to high heavens and a female skier who was bettet than me and said this is about skill...)
Keep going. You will concur the fear for the sheer enjoyment of speed.
Oh, and that fog, that's my Facebook picture under my real name. Ten meter space to ski down at skies pointing downwards (besides the edge of the slope with the markers) at speed, no visibility beyond 5 meters. The most awesome ride down an world-cup slope for me.
We will definitely go again and hopefully there will be less fog so I can see more and be less scared!! The last few times we went down it was a lot more fun! Thanks for sharing your stories :)
I wish I could ski as good as you Jenny, I'm a Finn and I can't ski to save my life!
Hahaha it is so hard!! And a little scary! But thank you! :)
She did really well
Thank you so, so much :)
Great videos! But one thing I don't understand: why you don't protect/cover your neck and chest from the cold? Easiest way to get sick or flu. It doesn't help to wear lots of clothes against cold if you leave your neck and chest open.
Thank you so much :) we both grew up in the desert so having scarves touching our necks just drives us crazy!! Haha!
Was seeing if anyone else had commented this, looks so damn cold without a face mask that goes down over the neck, or at least a scarf
We dont really have mountains in Finland. In finnish they are called tunturi, i think its a "fell" in english, what a perfect name? :D
Hahaha that is perfect!! Thank you for watching :)
I like you guys. I'm wathing Levi live cameras daily and wish so hard to get there but damn there are several thousands km from me 🙃
We are so glad to hear that!! Haha, hopefully you will get there soon ⛷️ thanks for watching!!
In Levi is snow for sure, here where I live is some snow (Kokkola). I am Carelian, hungary, swedish, finnish, german dna. We can see our history in dna.😊
That is awesome! I have lots of German and Swedish too! Thanks for your comment :)
Do you know which slope was the one you took after you left magic carpet place?
I am pretty sure it is the only slope at south point, it is the very first slope when you get to south point!
I think it's 8.3 - take chairlift 8, go off to the right when you get to the top, then straight down.
@@JacobandJennyTravel thank you
thanks a lot :)
Jenny , which model goggles did you buy ? I know the brand but which ones ?! Pls
Oh man I am not sure! And unfortunately I don't have the box anymore! But I really didn't like them so I would not recommend buying them! Thanks for watching :)
@@JacobandJennyTravel ok thanks for taking the time to reply.
@@fabiandegussion5134 Of course! We hope you have an amazing day :)
She has better confidence then I did first time I did it
Haha thank you!!! :)
What was the name of the resort? And would you be able to recommend a hotel name or whatever, in terms of being close to the resort and stuff. Please and Thankyouuuu. Also great video loved it!
In Levi we stayed at Hullu Poro and it was about three minute walk from the ski hill! It was a nice hotel and we would stay there again :) and thank you so much!
@@JacobandJennyTravel hey thank you so much for replying and thank you again for the information that really helped thakyouuu
I didn't knew Finland has ski resorts.
Yes they have a few! The mountains aren't too big but it is still fun! Thanks for watching :)
Did you know that you are not allowed to ski under the seat lift?
We saw many people doing it!
Low vis is rough for your first day.
Yes that was for sure the hardest part!! Thanks for watching :)
Went there as part of an Arctic tour. Really ranked low down. Terrain is very poor.
Hopefully you were able to enjoy the views at least!! Thanks so much for watching :)
@@JacobandJennyTravel Heli boarding in Sweden made up for the disappointment of Levi and Yllas.
Helmets are two sizes too big. Just a tip for safety next time.
Thanks for the tip :)
I think Jenny did brilliantly. My phobia is falling - purely because getting up is so hard.
On the webcam, that intermediate slope has a few tiny little chalets - I'm dying to know what they sell if you remember.
czcams.com/video/LwihxyJ4V20/video.html
Thank you so much friend!! Getting up is SO hard. I still couldn't do it without Jacobs help haha!! I don't remember anything they sell, I am sorry!!
All good -- a mystery means I'll have to go there😅
It hurts to see your jackets not fully closed as a native XD
Hahaha! We were getting hot! Thanks for watching :)
Skiing in zero visibility is awful no matter your skill level, if it isn't your local place were you know all the all the nooks and crannies it can be a bit scary especially for a beginner. Very understandable
Yeah it was definitely very scary for my first time! Thankfully after we went down once it was a lot more fun 🙌🏼 thanks for watching!!
Jenny looks real Finn girl...total lovely blond etc...😊
I will take it haha!!🇫🇮 My DNA shows 9% Norwegian and 9% Swedish so it is right on track with Finnish!! Haha!! Thanks for watching :)
👍👍👍👍🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮👈👈
🎉🙌🏼
please zip your zippers and wear a neck gaiter. Skiing is all about looking proffesional, and you guys look like jerrys :))) hahaha
Hahaha I know we keep getting this comment!! We had scarves on but they were annoying us so we took them off and thankfully we were moving so much we were actually hot even without them! Thanks so much for watching :)
Skiing for me is cross country skiing....
We are posting a cross country skiing video this week :) Thank you so much for watching :)
Huh
Thank you for watching :)
LIE if it is her first time.
This was definitely my first time hahaha
Just a suggestion...improve your stance. You are bent over
Thanks so much for the recommendation :)
I’m hoping to go in December. But we are thinking of booking an instructor as we have never tried skiing. Could you tell me roughly how much it costs to rent the equipment please? 🎿
I think it was around $50 per person! Hope that helps! You will have an amazing time :)
Absolutely no way was that first run her first time ever. I’ve skied for decades and there is no way you are telling the truth. She must have had dry run lessons or something at the very least. No chance of a subscription….
Hahaha I am very flattered by your comment as that genuinely was my first time skiing ever. I never had any lessons, and I actually don’t know what a dry lesson is lol. I grew up playing lots of sports and was a tennis pro for a while so I think that helped a lot :)
