For those who don not understand this song, listen to it, then go listen to Wings for Marie by TOOL part 1&2. You may start to see the light and understand what he is singing about. This song isn't about religion being pushed on him, it is about his mother(who became ill/sick) and yet STILL prayed to her GOD, not thinking about how her god may have done this to her, approx 10,000 days later( the name of another TOOL album) Maynard's mother passed away. Judith Marie, Unconditional one!!
kind of hard to know if he hated her, hated god or hated how he can't understand her devotion, even tho many people pray to god in their last moments after denying him all their lifes, maybe he'll know why when he dies.
I agree, my mothers name is Judith and she suffered more than 10 years, really suffered but still prayed and held strong to God. This song has a piece of my heart and always listen to on bad days ( missing my mother.). I feel the struggle just like him. The band, writer deserves my thanx. Powerful song!
My best friend “who was Mormon, prayed to god every day” died from a house fire 2 years ago. God did this to her. And to everyone who is like “satan was the one who did this to her!” Well that mean god didn’t try hard enough to stop it from happening, now did he?! I relate to this song on a deeper lever. Maynard basically spoke for me here. Awesome relatable song, love u Maynard!
Literally My FFFAAAVVOORRITEE song to ever exist, everything about this song is perfect and it sinks right in with how i feel. I could listen to this so no matter where im at or what im doing! JUDITH greatest song ever!
@StOnion there's always going to be suffering in the world. Having faith in God is actually what keeps many people sane. It's a way of coping with the pain.
I always wondered why this song was titled Judith also. I'm a Christian myself and also a Tool/PC fan. Like I said was wondering. Thanks for the information. Interesting, my buddy's mom died when he was young in 2000, she died from cancer and he's had trouble wondering why the Lord let his mom go. I try to help him understand here and there, but I think one day he'll come back to Him. Interesting Maynard has had the same type of experience.
@pandafye I actually think of my own mother when I hear this song myself, always have , a lot of his songs makes me think of family . It's music!! It takes everyone to a different place when we listen to it..Like the quote ..Im not sure who it came from Music is what feelings Sound like!! Individuality is not safe in this world! that has to change!!
It doesn´t matter for me if God isn´t what we think he is, staying away from sin allows me to keep my energy and get higher my vibrations, I´m sure there must be someone or something a force, whatever...helping us
Do any of you realize how sad JMK was? I mean, he was lost and depressed out of his mind. Hatred toward God brings so much pain. I have been through that and never again shall return to such hatred. God Bless!
he's just inspired of how one can be so devoted to the god, while believing he has to be cause of everything(even though the most horrible things when they are actually good people; never straying and all that bit in the lyrics)
sumthin bad did happen... mjk's mother suffered a stroke n had to live in a wheel chair for the rest of her life... this song is bout her... his mum's name is judith... there s a song by tool bout her as well.. 10000 days..
This is precisely my point, refereing to my first sentence. Religion has ironically enough been such an issue because of the wars between seperate branches. I know christians during the holy wars were at war with the muslims, trying to restore christian pilgrimage which they wouldnt allow. The crusades was an awful ordeal; yet faith always seemed to pronounce its self during these times, because man will hold dear anything, that will comfort their insecurities.
WHY EVENTHO I KNOW ALL THE LYRICS TO THIS SONG IN MY HEAD I ALWAYS HEAR " HE DID IT ALL FOR YOU... WHOOOOORRRREEE", I KNOW THATS NOT HOW IT GOES, BUT FOR SOME REASON I HEAR IT
Damn straight man, I hate reading those kind of comments. It's like they want CZcams to be void of intellect. They don't realize that when you take away all the debate it becomes a barren place with nothing but copy pasted thumbs up spam.
Bad things happen, there is no external reason for it beyond cause and effect. If you don't learn from it that's your own perogative. In practice good and bad [experiences] are relative, hence why some people are spoilt brats and others are very empathic to other's issues etc.
First song I heard from this group, and I was wondering "Why does the singer sound like the same guy from Tool?". But then I found out it's a SUPER GROUP!!!! And I was like "Well, that makes sense! Awesome sense!".
The thing is, when you are conflicting over *real* things there is a possibility of a resolution - for example with wars over resources, if you can remove resource scarcity, the fight stops. When you're conflicting over imaginary things there is NO end to it, no discussion that can be decided by evidence. You can objectively study reality to decide if something is right. You can't do that when people just make stuff up and call it "truth". Taking away ignorance makes life better for all.
Interesting, some would also go as far to say that the idea of God is like unto a Utopia...never attainable, but a goal that is forever evolving, which would obviously be different for everyone...but hey, I'm just here to enjoy that the music...
@Mr1Deity What about the song do you need explained? The song is about Judith who is his mother. He talks about her undying faith in God and how he cant understand how she can still follow him after all the stuff that has happened to her.
You are telling me God cut off another man's hand? You are telling it wasn't done by another man such as you and me? It's us, humans, who are to blame!
We're exceptional at finding patterns where there are none, because it was an evolutionary advantage in a world where every predator was camouflaged (running away from something that *might* be a tiger, is generally not a bad idea) I defined my own meaning of life, anyone can. Life is just not that complicated. I hope I didn't misunderstand your reply anyway, I think that addresses what you meant.
This man has not contributed to, or created a single song that I dislike - Tool and Puscifer included - and out of all the music I have ever listened to, those three bands are the only ones that I can say this for.
It can be readily argued that there is not enough evidence to either prove or disprove the existence of a "God" as we consider it. It simply depends on personal interpretation and which side of the "God" arguement you want to start on. Neither side can win due to faith (wanting God to be disproven) as well as the limitations of modern science (wanting God to be proven).
Picture this... A 55 year old African American woman sitting at her desk actually going BESERK listening to all this APC and TOOL..That's me. hahahahahhaha
@StOnion it's your own opinion whether it's a weakness. As I said, it brings a lot of people comfort, so it is actually constructive. Nothing you said can be proven as a fact. It may be possible, but it's not a fact. How we are here is not really important, because we don't really have any control over it, and it is something we will most probably never know.
Everybody's fighting over religion here and most don't know that this song is about Keenan's mother, Judith Marie Keenan, staying faithful to God after she was put in a wheelchair for the last 27 years of her life. He's saying she shouldn't waste her time on a God that would do that to her. Then she died and he viewed it differently. 27 years is roughly 10,000 Days. Look up both parts of that song by TOOL and you'll hear a way better song that's a tribute to his mother's strength and faith...
@StOnion Yes we should always challenge what we already have, but dealing with problems with faith improves our mental state of well-being in many ways. You should realise that some people have different opinions than you when regarding what is best for themselves. I'm not a christian, but in the end it doesn't matter because it still gives people comfort to overcome such tough situations. We have so many problems here on earth that we should be dealing with those first.
Bad things happen to teach people lessons. We wouldn't know what good is if we never experienced seemingly "bad" things. Let's be clear that I am taking no sides in this argument.
@randallisrandy Dude im a Christian and I have more respect for him then I do for you! I also think God does as well because at least he is willing to express how he truly feels about him! God looks at the heart and I believe God will look deep inside him and see how much pain he is in and heal him just like he has done with billions of non believers throughout history!
@TheGospelOfReason not quite sure about that. I read some 6 years ago an intervew with Maynard and he expressed clearly that it was a protest for fanatic religious (indeed, about the relationship of her mother and her religion), check it out.
I think people are finding patterns where there are none, the meaning of life is what we make for ourselves, the universe evidently doesn't care what happens to us so we have to look after ourselves. Nature just is, we shouldn't apply human traits to it.
Yeah, though I'm glad that nowadays we can rely on eachother and real things, My ex-military atheist friends tell me they didn't suddenly hold onto a deity when their lives were in danger. So there's hope that you can find security in a secular manner. Much like trusting your equipment when you're in a war. ^_^
at 0.53 i always thought the lyrics were "Now Judith why?!". Clearly i was wrong. But listening to it back without looking at the screen i can still hear "Now Judith Why?!" .... bizzare
People have that preconceived notion because that's what they've experienced. Whether subtly or overtly many Christians are always trying to impose their beliefs on others.
because we want to enjoy the LYRICS, not only the fucking feeling . Go listen to jb or lady gaga if you want to "enjoy the music" without thinking or debating.
@StOnion Is that right? it seems to me that her faith made Judith a much happier, nicer person for a long time in her life. Now if she had the mind set that all God wanted to do was cuase her pain and bring her down, she would be stuck on her missfortune and would be depressed and much less of a mother to Maynard then she was in her short life. Religon can bring much to a willing persons life. (i never go to church or anything like that, and has religion affected my life? yes it has..)
@ashlathelight lol, I'm doing this song for band, but we're not allowed to swear (It's a school band) so I decided to change it to "Trust your God" , however I'm changing it to that as a sarcastic meaning ;)
spent a year in sierra leone as a journalists photographer. You ever seen a hand being cut off? If there ever was a god he left us a long time ago my friend. Be a good christian and have high morals, but dont expect to go to heaven. The amount of god in this world can not baance the evil, not by a long shot, so how can there be this god you speak of? Fetch me the father, the son, and the spirit and tell them their pillar of faith as ascended....
@AsterTheGreat Such a loving christian. You only care about yourself. You only care about keeping your own ass out of the fire. If there were a hell, you'd belong there.
@ashlathelight Because it's not so often that this is so personal. How does one tell their mother, "Everything you believed in is a lie."? when she banked her whole life on it and her death is between emptiness and a here and there after? Do you steal someone's faith and peace in their death? Maynard was right to question.
@OpeNSinnS i totally agree with u......i was born and raised into the christian religion i started to question my religion when i was bout 10 years old.... i came to understand that the bible and many of the things that they taught me were like INSANE lol I also agree with there are more atheists out there than you think ..... because not being a christian is like taboo in our country people are afraid to admit what they believe cause they are scared of what people might think of them
"your such an inspiration for the ways that i'll never ever chose to be"- those are my fav lyrics in this song of all time
proud Christian here and I still love tool, apc and puscifer. music is music. it can mean what you want it to mean
X2 brother. A very proud son of God, and a very big NIN, APC, QOTSA, TOOL, Kyuss, Puscifer, Deftones fan forever.
I think the message is clear in this song...no other way to perceive the msg....your God is evil and / or a failure of epic proportions
@@lloydrobbinsdrumcoverstoil1202 nahhhhh.
this song is so powerful.. my mom raised my going to church.. but looking at life now.. My God.
When a song hits home, you just want to listen to it over and over. This is one of those songs. The is hard.
For those who don not understand this song, listen to it, then go listen to Wings for Marie by TOOL part 1&2. You may start to see the light and understand what he is singing about. Alexis Rabago It's really about saving the soul, not the human body.
Eric Baker But sure it's hard dealing with the death, or suffering of a loved one.
Eric Baker yep, and his mother
My best friend “who was Mormon, prayed to god every day” died from a house fire 2 years ago. God did this to her. Man, Maynard hits the nail on the head on this track.
This is one KICK-ASS track by "A Perfect Circle".
im christian and tool is probably my favorite band if u can actually listen to the music you cant deny how kick ass it is no matter the subject matter
when his mother stands before God she will have Great rewards better than anything she could have had here on earth ....We have A wonderful God...
@StOnion there's always going to be suffering in the world. Having faith in God is actually what keeps many people sane. It's a way of coping with the pain.
one of the gratest songs of all time
Nice vid. Love how you put the lyrics over the album art. Good quality as well.

God Bless!
Ever notice how this song can never be too loud?
This one goes hard.
+Bobby Uttcrumbs It does. It's a hard jam with hard lyrics. You gotta be hardcore to be into Maynard. Fortunately for me, I'm hardcore!
I'm a Christian but yet I still FUCKIN' LOVE THIS SONG!!!!
This song kicks ass..
he's just inspired of how one can be so devoted to the god, while believing he has to be cause of everything(even though the most horrible things when they are actually good people; never straying and all that bit in the lyrics)

Don't discuss religion here, people. Just enjoy the freaking song.
AtheistComet80 Tell me... Do you believe in God?
Love the profile pic
***** I concur.
Yeah!
This copy is louder than the official vid!
Winning!

Manyard could sing a cookbook and it would rock ^^

Why do we fight over beliefs?? It's pointless. Love each other like you love yourself. If everybody did that, this world would be a peaceful place.
wow, strong lyrics. It would be funny to play this song in the church.)
First song I heard from this group, and I was wondering "Why does the singer sound like the same guy from Tool?". But then I found out it's a SUPER GROUP!!!! And I was like "Well, that makes sense! Awesome sense!".

@Mr1Deity What about the song do you need explained? The song is about Judith who is his mother. He talks about her undying faith in God and how he cant understand how she can still follow him after all the stuff that has happened to her.
A voice of reason in the void.
You are telling me God cut off another man's hand? You are telling it wasn't done by another man such as you and me? It's us, humans, who are to blame!
Why must such a catchy song be so sacrilegious...?
We're exceptional at finding patterns where there are none, because it was an evolutionary advantage in a world where every predator was camouflaged (running away from something that *might* be a tiger, is generally not a bad idea)

change your paradigm, you have the right to choose your path, but why are you the only one?
i had no idea what this song was about until i actually listened to the lyrics, woah. ahahaha
Yes. i am saying if there ever was a god, he left a long time ago. Its just us and us alone
It can be readily argued that there is not enough evidence to either prove or disprove the existence of a "God" as we consider it. @WarriorCheetah He did it was "Die Eier Von Satan" German for "The Eggs from Satan" was a recipe with baking instructions.
No problem, and thanks for commenting.
We've also stopped using AD and BC. It's Common Era and Before Common Era. No more Year of our Lawd.
@Jar3D226, I'm not mad. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs (well, not everyone). This is a good song regardless of beliefs.
I find it hilarious that your calendar is filled with lots of pagan holidays.
Everybody's fighting over religion here and most don't know that this song is about Keenan's mother, Judith Marie Keenan, staying faithful to God after she was put in a wheelchair for the last 27 years of her life. thank you. I made one typo though, but I fixed that with an annotation
EPIC.
This is the song to play when your playing a game.

I fkn LOOVEE this songg !!
@mhunt05 Are you saying Maynard was molested solely based on that song or do you actually have some quotes to back that up?
the singer sound's like the one in Tool :P
i just... *shakes head*
*sarcastic mindblow*
There's a reason for that... He is the same guy (Maynard James Keenan).
Brawler_1337 yeah i know dude ;) i was just being sarcastic :D
you all forgot about the music... :(
i used the lines Jake said in Adventure Time's episode Memory Of A Memory...
@TheGospelOfReason not quite sure about that. I read some 6 years ago an intervew with Maynard and he expressed clearly that it was a protest for fanatic religious (indeed, about the relationship of her mother and her religion), check it out.

10000 days 27 years, about 4 months and a few days... too much time
because we want to enjoy the LYRICS, not only the fucking feeling . Go listen to jb or lady gaga if you want to "enjoy the music" without thinking or debating.
the song is apparently about his mother. Considering the circumstances, I dont blame him for the lyrics.
I just realized this video was posted a day after my grandpa passed away. That is just one "way to show my dogma has abandoned me". fuck that shit.
This song is about his mother (Judith Marie) who is in a wheelchair and very failthful.
He did sing about baking once with tool :)
this song is just sad when you actually know hes singing about his paralyzed mother....
He did it all you you...
You failed to realize that this person was not using our science, logic, or critical thinking. They were actually not even using these things.
@ashlathelight lol, I'm doing this song for band, but we're not allowed to swear (It's a school band) so I decided to change it to "Trust your God" , however I'm changing it to that as a sarcastic meaning ;)

@AsterTheGreat Such a loving christian. You only care about yourself. You only care about keeping your own ass out of the fire. If there were a hell, you'd belong there.
haha Thank you! people need to actually go deeper into the song besides the lyrics
Oh? Could you explain what you mean by that? :) I'm not aware of that issue
@ashlathelight Because it's not so often that this is so personal. How does one tell their mother, "Everything you believed in is a lie."? when she banked her whole life on it and her death is between emptiness and a here and there after? Do you steal someone's faith and peace in their death? Maynard was right to question.
@OpeNSinnS i totally agree with u......i was born and raised into the christian religion i started to question my religion when i was bout 10 years old.... i came to understand that the bible and many of the things that they taught me were like INSANE lol I also agree with there are more atheists out there than you think ..... because not being a christian is like taboo in our country people are afraid to admit what they believe cause they are scared of what people might think of them
@cojaca3 hence why I'm going to post a link in the description... eventaully.
@Bstabbinu that´s right. It talks about how bad is a religious fanatic, not the religion or God itself.
@mhunt05 That's not entirely true. It's also about her church mates talking shit about her behind her back.
No problem.
Billy composes, Maynard writes lyrics.
Religion aside. I love the music :3
