From Newfoundland, we just had a huge storm and the snow banks are as tall as the loaders in some parts! 91+cm in a day. What this guy is pushing uphill looks awful wet though.

Granted, that snow doesn't look terribly deep. But it does look very wet, heavy and dense. Komatsu for the win! Great video beautiful country.
Snow is not very deep, but has video on channel where a lot deeper, you're right, the snow is wet and went to the breakthrough of the road when it began to melt.
It was in places over 3 meters, but it was cleaned with a basket, not with the v plow. This is a road that is bordering the northern Velebit National Park

Strangely relaxing, lool.
A straight plow would work much better in that type of terrain. Most of the road has one side against a incline and the other a decline. A straight plow would push all of the snow over the embankment and not cause a pileup on the incline side.

That would be true if it was not partly melted snow and therefore extremely heavy and difficult to cut thru. If you have a normal plow it will be pushed to the side because the snow is to heavy. First the V plow and cleaning with a normal plow.
Was curious about the choice of a v plow myself, I don't believe a straight plow would experience too much difficulty depending on the operator. Should just blow it off the side, might have to do 2-3 runs but final product would be cleaner

Loaded coal trucks during the eighties and nineties with a W. A500 kumatsu great loader.
LOL...some people commenting that it is not deep snow as the machine creates 3 foot high banks of heavy compacted snow on each side of the V blade. People are dumb.
The snow is passed the fenders.

The problem of using a V plow in this application Is the up hill snow melts and freezes and it’s there till it melts in Spring If he has to plow again there is no place to put the uphill snow and the road just gets smaller.

Looks like they waited til the end of winter to plow, snow starting to sweat causing it to be heavy and thick. Rather than plow when its fluffy powder and it’s easier and you and the machine

it would have been much, much deeper. where the snow is deep you have to wait until it is mostly melted to plow it.
Some roads are closed for the winter and plowed in the springtime during good weather. Visibility makes lesser used roads dangerous to drive on in the winter storms so they just close them.
Looks exactly like where I live here in northern Nova Scotia....same landscape, trees etc weird.
Good job! Now imagine you're in a Komatsu 500 with bucket and cars parked on either side. You go in about 1/8 mile only to find its a dead end that ends in some rich guys driveway. He's gonna call his buddy the mayor if you leave a big berm of snow in front of his driveway. Lose the berm and back out. Careful now. Snow removal in the hills of NYC. LOL I don't miss it.

@rgtrooper13 Never heard of the genocide in the former Yugoslavia, I take it? Those stories are ones that I frankly do not want to tell. Pure horror, and not in a good way. There are some things in this world that your mind should probably never learn of.
If I’m not mistaken, this is a hydrostatic drive loader. First one I operated it took a bit to get used to, but once I did, not needing to use a brake I was able to load so much faster.
A straight plow would put too much stress on the machine the v plow is the proper attachment for this job

I had to shovel the same kind of driveway, then milk the cows, and pick an acre of peaches, all in the same morning, before school. After school was when the big chores were piled on.

Snow blower would have been more appropriate, to blow the snow down hill, now you got two drifts on either side, next snow fall will fill in and make it even WORSE.
@ Hey, Kenny, your comments tell us what kind of person you are. I have been a snowplow operator for over ten years. Obviously this is the only machine they had to do this difficult job of wet heavy snow, just wanted offer a better solution.

Ugh... snow that has fallen as sleet and then frozen solid so its almost ice, especially on the surface. Damn nearly impossible to chew through -- and also the type of snow that stays behind for the longest time after the warmth comes.
Wrong blade for the job. most of the snow is piled on the inside. It should have a blade that takes it away from the inside to the outside edge. Great for a walking trail though. It has lots of power behind it.

Plowing a path to CroCops house?
it looks like it is a hard task even for this special machine. And maybe it would be better to reinvent the snow blade. Make it's shape in such a way that snow blade will not just push compressed snow but will lift it up, wrap in a pipe and throw away.

It’s deep enough to require chains on what I assume is a 4WD unit. Gotta spray Teflon on the blade to reduce the drag of the wet snow lol
