      Can you not fathom the love that parents have for their children unconditionally?
      I think that if they were self focused they would have taken steps to either end or shorten their childs life.
      Not many of us are perfect but what stands out is the love they have for this little human being - their son.

      So just because the parent love him so, he should suffer and his quality of life should be really poor?

      No it is not murder seeing as an embryo/fetus is not yet a baby, therefore it's not seen as a proper life form.
      Abortion is NOT murder and your god does NOT exist and if he did, how could he let this child be born that way?
      The poor child is not loved, he is being used for profit by the parents, at least he was. Now he is left in a care facility, do you call that love?
      The Lord? I have no damn Lord, neither do you. What you have is a delusion, nothing else.

    • @TMIDiva
      @TMIDiva Před 6 lety +128

      I worked as a pediatric nurse for many years. You are mostly right in your outrage. "Happiness" in a severely disabled child is a relative term. Having someone that agrees to provide love and nurturing, even with out the milestones enjoyed by neurotypical children, is a gift that these kids are lucky to have. There was an era when this child would have been taken to a warehouse orphanage and relegated to a cage like crib until death. There are still similar facilities, but nothing like the numbers that existed before diagnosis and the parents ability to end the pregnancy. Unrealistic expectations and wholehearted delusional adherence to the potential for an impossible capacity make the enthusiasm of this couple disturbing. Mostly, because many children suffer through the misery of money seeking foster care and poorly diagnosed learning disabilities that truly COULD have a happy life if someone actually gave a damn. This situation might seem like a waste of scarce medical services to many (including me), but every child is entitled. It's the parental fantasy that makes me shake my head. Really, it just bugs me that it's shown as something heroic here.

    I gave birth to a son who's brain had stopped growing at the brain stem a condition known as Anencephaly. We found out at our 20 week ultrasound. I chose to deliver at 25 weeks rather than carry the baby to term he died peacefully in my arms surrounded by people who loved him. we had so many people pass judgement on us that it was hard for us to heal after. Sometimes loving your child means making the hard gut wrenching decisions to spare them pain and suffering. I am very happy that they are so peaceful with their decision but in most cases children with this disorder and others like it the babies only live minutes and it is a devastating for the families. It is also dangerous for the mothers to carry to term. I hope people understand that this child is not the norm but the exception and there should not be any judgement on the families who decide to let their babies go peacefully.

    Okay - one last time - Jaxon was not speaking. No 3 month old child could even begin to say ' I love you' and understand what is meant by it. The concepts of 'I' and 'you' are still trying to form in a brain that is 100 percent there. Jaxon is screaming. The 'walking' he did was another reflex reaction, giverned by the hypothalamus, which is probably the 20 percent of his brain that survived. And the fact that his head is flopping back at a 90 degree angle is clear proof that he doesn't have the wherrewithal to protect his body from further pain.
    There are incredible stories of people who have over come huge problems or who continue to live with extremely difficult situations. Try looking at videos about them...at least you'll be learning something. Try Special Books by Special Kids and you'll be bowled over at what the human mind and body CAN do, even when faced with unimaginable hurdles.

But I'm having a hard time with that poor child's "life", as I'm not sure Jaxon is even aware he has one. On another note, can't count the number of times people told other's they "made them sick" here on this thread!? Why the assault for a perspective outside of your own? Don't you all know that this has been an ongoing agenda to keep us intolerant and bickering and fighting to keep us from learning and growing? It's meant for us to hate each other, it's what "they" want us to do, it keeps us separated from each other and then it's a downhill slide to a life without empathy or compassion! People talk about a "moral code" and everyone has to show they don't own one. Chill, learn to throw sugar instead of salt, to stand in the shade as to casting it! Life would be so much more peaceful in places such as these threads and maybe that peace would bleed out into the world and we could just get along. I mean how hard is it to just listen and then agree to disagree and then move the ef on? Whatever, talking to brick walls, that's why I've turned off the bell, it's either frustrating or dangerous but NEVER productive. People just like to sling shit. I'm sixty plus and can honestly say, things are getting worse, not better and it's OUR fault!

    I get it. The fact that he's breathing and existing is enough to make the parents happy and feel like they're doing something good. He gives them hope and he's a miracle to them. However, I don't think this would be the right choice for everyone. I think some parents would consider the quality of life, or lack of life, this child would have and decide to spare him. Some would take into account that there is no room for mental growth, just bare existence. Terminating the pregnancy would have been an okay choice too.
    Pro-choice doesn't mean people get to terminate pregnancies on a whim. It means that when couples face difficult situations like this, they have a choice to do what they believe is best. These parents chose to let him live a highly limited life. Okay. It would've been okay to choose otherwise too.

    • @warrenkinny2465
      @warrenkinny2465 Před 6 lety +5

      I think any reasonable person can see *some* merit in your analysis. But as this case shows, even well-meaning doctors don't know exactly how situations will turn out as they are rare and no two cases are identical.
      Nevertheless, the biggest flaw in your analysis is the conclusion "Pro-choice doesn't mean people get to terminate pregnancies on a whim." That's EXACTLY what "pro-choice" means in 99.99% of cases. Argue from the corner-case, the outlier, and try to normalize from there.
      Any honest person will admit that's exactly what "pro-choice" was trying to do - allow abortion on demand. The law *already* had exceptions for life-threatening medical situations - but ideologues wanted the convenience of abortion on demand and to sweep the destructive psychological and physical outcomes under the rug..and they got exactly that.

    • @nelly11796
      @nelly11796 Před 6 lety +26

      Warren Kinny, perhaps the treatment of abortions differs regionally. I'm in northern California and abortions are not convenient. Clinics take care to avoid physical and psychological destruction. No woman *wants* to go through that traumatic experience. Thus, women typically have to go through something like councelling and a psychological assessment before the abortions. Plus, a lot of "Pro-Choicers" and clinics are also highly involved with sex education to completely avoid unwanted pregnancies. That way, abortions are a *last* resort, handled with care, and not on a whim. At least where I am, it can be different other places.

      Also, we have to be certain that nobody loses their job, ever.
      Everybody on board with that?

    I just seen this video for first time over an hour ago and I still cannot stop crying. He looks, sounds, and moves just like my little brother Jacob. We went through the same exact thing with doctors. I was only 11 years old when he was born. I loved him so much. So did my mom and his dad. I believe with all my heart that it was the love that kept him alive. He lived to be 15 years old. He was legally blind, seeing only lights and shadows, he knew when I would walk into the room, no matter how quiet I was, he knew it was me and his face would light up and he would smile and start to laugh. He has been gone now for 15 years and I still miss him so much. God how I loved him and he loved too, he was happy. He didn't know any differance and I know he loved life, loved me, loved. I was given the greatest gift I ever could have been given when God gave me my brother Jacob.

This video doesn't uplift me in the slightest, it just keeps reminding me that he won't ever get to experience life's luxuries and properly enjoy them the way he _deserves_ to (he deserves to see, hear, talk, and not have a chance of dying at a young age). If you ask me, I'd rather abortion than have my child live like this. I feel abortion would have been a mercy for unfortunate souls like Jaxon, and I mean that with no ill will towards him or his parents.

With this in mind some people will not give up the life of their child without knowing for sure. If anything these parents or parents like them are anything but selfish. They knowingly have given up their own freedom to raise this child and try to give him the most experiences in life, what ever that might mean for him for the rest of his life.

      i think georgiana is talking about their descicion to NOT terminate their pregnancy and essentially raise a child that will never be able to function normally and constantly has seizures as well as a plethora of other ..."conditions". just think about it, what is more humane, to simply terminate the pregnancy or to go through with it and maintain this poor human being that is suffering every waking second of his miserable existence. I honestly feel so bad for this poor kid and can totally understand why someone would choose to terminate their pregnancy. You think Georgina gives christians a bad name, but you nicki give humans a bad name because of your selfish ignorance and blind idealism. people like you hold the entire human race back with that 18th century mindset and are the reason a lot of issues dont get resolved. please re- evaluate your life.

Let’s see a new video. They always show this one, trying to hook new people into donating. They don’t tell you he was born in August of 2014. Where’s a new picture? As for the scam, it’s true indeed. They received about a million dollars of donations since Jaxon’s birth. And Brittany’s own brother in law confessed that they decided to not abort him because of the money they could make out of his condition.
      But things has changed & now people know about the scam & talk openly. But the parents keep hiding like rats, blocking every people asking them “sensitive questions” whereas those people are the same who gave them this money in the first place....

    Everyone in the comments saying how beautiful Jaxon is, how precious it is that he said "I love you", and what a loving family the Buells are. I get where you're coming from, but no. Jaxon was, indeed, a cute, chubby, blue-eyed baby. However, he wasn't a normal baby, or even a disabled baby; he was a baby born without 80% of his brain. Jaxon couldn't form thoughts or feel emotions, and had only the most rudimentary of reflexes. He was incapable of saying, thinking or feeling words, let alone anything related to love, because he lacked the parts of the brain necessary for higher thinking. He cannot be compared to a person with a brain injury who miraculously regains lost functions, because those people had the parts of the brain necessary to do those things in the first place, whereas Jaxon NEVER had them.
    As saddening as it may be to accept, the Buells were grifters. They jumped through legal loopholes to create a charity without any accountability, then used their earnings as a personal slush fund. The money donated to help Jaxon was used to buy a McMansion and go on exotic vacations, without their son. (And without each other: they were separated, and downplayed it to maintain the image of being loving Christian parents, because they didn't want their target audience to desert them.) When the charity was uncovered as a fraud and shut down, they divorced. Brittney dumped Jaxon in a care facility, remarried, had a neurotypical child, and now pretends like Jaxon never existed. Meanwhile, Jaxon's father keeps working the pro-life circuit, peddling the same fantasies you see presented in this video (while dodging all questions about his personal life).

Preventing pregnancy before it becomes an issue). But these people are only using medical technology to extend this poor kids existence and suffering. And really that’s all he’s doing, is existing and suffering for their own selfishness. Literally the only thing giving him any kind of reflexes (and they are only reflexes, not learned behaviors, because he is not neurologically capable of learning anything) is the stem of what small portion of the brain he even has. When any human baby is born, it is born with the reflex to root and around searching for a nipple to latch onto and then around 1 or 2 months of age they will also show the instinct to "walk" that is to draw the legs upward one after the other when you hold it over the floor and allow it's feet to touch the ground--the infant appears to walk. All infants do this.
    The reflexes we are all born with disappear as the upper brain develops. The fact that these reflexes are still present indicates the upper brain is not developed and the infant is relying solely on basic reflexes found only in the lower brain at the time of birth. The child is stuck only in the most basic state of lower brain reflexes.
    If this child was born with a human soul then the soul is stuck in this body unable to develop--imagine a computer whose interface with the world is damaged beyond repair. He can not interact in any meaningful way (on his part anyway), he can not learn or understand, he can not store memories. He can not grow or develop as a human being.
    I can not become angry with the parents, people grieve and cope in different ways--I am sure they grieve the loss of a healthy child--What I don't understand is why medical doctors are compelled to intervene and "save" any and every life simply because they can. This child CAN NOT EAT. Only a few years ago, as sad as it is to consider the death of an infant, the child would have passed not long after birth and I believe it would be a mercy.
    Have the medical doctors or parents considered that this poor child could still be alive at 40 or 30 or 70 years old? His parents would be dead or too old to care for him. No longer cute. No longer small and easy to move around; completely reliant on paid strangers to care for him. If his poor body is able to hang on to a human soul, I feel very sorry that it is stuck here in this hellish limbo.

This stuff makes me emotional too because society makes me feel like I should feel quilty or less than for thinking this is wrong!! When I think it's wrong to bring a child into this world just to suffer and become a burden on so many. To me it some most severe cases it's needless suffering and needless resources and time being wasted. For a human being that has no quality of life, other than to be a disabled doll for their parents, and if they live longer going be a burden on us and others. Overwhelming state funding and other government resources. That could be better spent to help healthy/healthier children and adults.

    You need to be honest; the child is not "eating on its own"; if you look at the entire video, you will see that the child is not able to control his head movements and with the grandmother (not a homeless woman) sticking a cookie almost down its throat, he is merely moving his open mouth over it and "mouthing" it. He could have choked on it. Here is the entire 1:39 min video: czcams.com/video/5WyHYxNjeGw/video.html None of cookie is eaten, and the only thing he "eats" is a few crumbs that come off on his lips from the continuous saliva. There are several parts where he even pulls his head back and away and she sticks the cookie in his mouth again. Just be honest.

If everything is in God's hands, then it would also be His will for that boy to die very soon after birth without artificial help (he'd probably die of dehydration and starvation without that feeding tube). Happiness is a decision, not a situation. That baby can be happier than a lot of people with a whole brain. People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be. And seeing how this baby doesn't have a "mind", he's off to a good start because his parents are happy just to be with him

    It takes a strong and patient parent to deal with a child with any disability ..even though some may not agree but I applaud them.. God will not put anything on you that you cannot bare.. some people out here with healthy kids still don't know how to be a parent..I believe everyone has a purpose..and should have a chance at life..so God bless them.

      Cheryl Ferry wow, as the adoptive mom of an angel named Jasmine, I am horrified and saddened at your comment. There is something seriously wrong with your soul, my dear. Let me tell you about my little Jasmine, who I adopted knowing she was special needs. Like Jaxon, she had a major brain malformation: Jasmine was born missing the entire left half of her brain. She had many many seizures per day, and her caregivers in the orphanage in Hong Kong told us she would never walk, never speak...never do much of anything. HOW WRONG THEY WERE!!! She only lived a little less than 6 years, but she learned to walk with the aid of a walker. She said many words, and she also used sign language. She had an impish sense of humor and loved to hide my car keys, and her favorite people to watch on TV were Weird Al and Emeril Lagassee. And you want to call Jaxon and my Jasmine, “dogs”??? You have a lot of nerve. They are angels. THINK next time you post.

      @@lindabowers2616 you didn't exploit her in order to raise money for yourself. These awful parents have had about $750k in donations. They got a new house, new cars and lots of nice holidays. There are many videos of him having multiple seizures and they pass it off that he's excited. They wildly exaggerate what Jaxon is capable of and Brittney even puts make up on him. Have you watched any of the other videos of him? They are truly horrific and very sad.

      Linda Bowers do not connect your daughter to this child and misconstrue this commenters worlds. Your child had half of her brain, Jackson basically only has the brain stem this child was born basically brain dead he was born lobotomized. These parents are in denial everything he does is a reflex, his eyes hold no person he is just a body. He has no frontal lobe he has no personality, he will never feel emotion he will never see or hear or enjoy life. He lives in a black void of consciousness if he even is there at all, his brain stem keeps his body alive and that is all. This isn’t a child that could experience life like your daughter at least this is a child that will never live beyond basic survival. She was right when she described him as just parts of a baby because that’s what he is a human body with no body inside, it’s heartbreaking but it’s fucking true. These parents are delusional and selfish and I feel sorry for them because this is terrible but they should’ve terminated the pregnancy when the doctor told them to. They should’ve terminated the pregnancy before they could birth him just to suffer. It’s true we don’t even treat dogs like this, when your pet stops walking and being able to function you euthanize him because the quality of life doesn’t justify their suffering. We euthanize pets because we are living and merciful and don’t want them to suffer, yet people would let human children be born to suffer for the entirety of a miserable experience? Jaxon doesn’t exist inside of those eyes, nobody is home nobody is there.
